woh that's really useful! i'm travelling abroad next week and will stop using the telephone number which I'm currently using for a while. think i should tell them then. it's kinda strange because during my interview i asked for like twice if there would be a second interview since they write so on the website, and he said no.

anyway it's nice to know about this. any one here applied for IT and got any thing after that vague mail? just the AC is hell late... at the end of June...

So, did anyone else get a call from BAT for a "catch up session" which turned out to be another telephone interview? It was mainly a motivational interview and was in the form of a chat and the man was really nice. So like in the 1st telephone interview they asked Why BAT? What do you know about the role? What are you doing now? Why Finance? What do you think about the qualification you will have to get during the programme (CIMA)? Have you applied to other firms? and they asked about some things on my CV as well. I also asked about the format of the AC and they said it was
    -role play
    -group exercise
and something else another interview or something
It was really out of the blue so be prepared. Good Luck

Googled BAT management trainee AC and all I could find was the one for Uzbekistan and for that one they do 4 things
    - Research planning meeting (I guess you have to discuss in a group about planning a research proposal or something)
    - Fact finding task (maybe a case study)
    -Strategy group meeting

    And the criteria
-ability to analyze information and make decisions
    -putting forward new ideas
-ability to work together and achieve common goals

I don't know if they use the same format for the BAT's all over the world and whether its different for different programmes because I've seen other different descriptions of the AC but hopefully they'll have some similarities.

Hey Thea, who told you about the graduate salary?
Has anyone heard from them yet? I believe what they meant by the week commencing on the 8th was in fact the week that started today...

  • 11 April 2011 - 7:23pm
    • thea

nfs63: I was told that the graduate salary is 25.000 but I was interviewed for the HR programme..I don't know if it's the same for every stream.

Anyone heard from them about the AC?

What kind of structure does the BAT AC have? :S

    Hey Guys,
One question do you know when is the programme supposed to start? Graduate positions are usually in September but when beginning or middle?

Does anyone now how much does the BAT pay for the graduate programme in Operations in UK ?

Also, does anyone know anything about BAT AC?

Hi guys, just had a phone interview with bat and wanted to add that all the questions are similar to those outlined by thea. I would just add the question: what are the most common and uncommon recruiting sources? or smt like that. I have applied for the HR MTP in italy.

I was told that the ac would be held on the 12 and 13 of may in uk nd that I would receive a reply in 2 weeks time, good luck everyone :-)

    Hi kamea,
Yes, I'm from Poland and I submitted my application on 27th Feb. I took the tests a week ago and since than haven't heard from them (except for that e-mail that they remember) :)
Hey guys, do you know if AC is done separately for each country or for each department?
And how many people do they choose? Is it one for each department separately for each country or just a few people altogether?

  • 20 March 2011 - 12:13am
    • therealjemima

All i've been able to find is a post from 2006 for the AC in a completely different country and a different graduate scheme so I would take this information with a pinch of salt
"This is a whole day interview. There are a few tests conducted here. There are 4... Presentation, Case Study, Interview, Group Presentation. So, they will give you a case study to study and you come out with the solutions and stuff. Then, you will present (individually) your ideas and stuff to one of the interviewers in one of the hotel rooms. Then, you will go to another room for an interview session. The interview questions are guided ones. It is like a normal interview session. Then, comes the group part. Its not like a group presentation where all of you stand in front and takes turn to speak. It is a meeting-based presentation. Everyone will sit in a round table and discuss about the case study given earlier, changing views and stuff for 30 minutes I think. So, the more you speak, the more you got noticed by the interviewers. Make sure you talk about usefull stuff. Make it like a formal meeting. Then, thats it.

The sequence of the 4 tests might be changed but the overall is something like that. Hope that helps. Oh yeah! Another thing. Please do the case study as fast as you can. I personally think thats the toughest part as you dont have much time to think too much. Good Luck!"

Thea, they told me two weeks but during the interview - two days later they said end of april... I think that if you got email - this could be their response... I don't get it :/

  • 19 March 2011 - 10:20pm
    • thea

kaema: Yes, I applied to the HR MTP. Why they told you at the end of April? They told me in two weeks.. strange.

therealjemima: I know nothing about the AC process.. to tell u the truth i did not google anything because i don't believe that i will reach the AC stage.
and.. role play? seems difficult :S

but how can we find out more?
anyone already been in the AC?

  • 19 March 2011 - 11:11pm
    • therealjemima

Why don't you think you'll get to the AC stage Have they told you that you have to do another interview? Plus you've passed the application stage, the tests and the interview so you're doing something right best to keep positive.... but i guess i understand where you're coming from the fact that they short list the canditates that have passed the interview stage sort of makes me wary. there's really not a lot of recent info on the BAT AC as well which doesn't help.

  • 19 March 2011 - 7:39pm
    • kaema

I didnt get any e-mail about AC. Just that catch up call I told you about. They said that AC will take place 12th/13th May and that they will give me an info if Im in, at the end of April

Thea youre for HR MTP just like me right???
And Livia whend did you send your application??? (Im from Poland too)

Got exactly the same e-mail yesterday. Although mine mentioned that they "will provide the list to them week commencing the 8th April". (?)
I have no idea what this means.

Also, that "the provisional dates for the HR Management Trainee Assessment Centres are 12th / 13th May".

  • 19 March 2011 - 3:09pm
    • therealjemima

Oh you're right the email says the week commencing 8th of April. It seems different programmes have different dates for the AC just don't have a definite understanding of the BAT AC process? Do you have an idea? I googled and saw on a forum that there's a group discussion, presentation and role play, but I doubt that's all.

Has anyone done the assessment centre and is willing to share their experience with us?

  • 19 March 2011 - 12:32pm
    • therealjemima

Got my email yesterday about passing the telephone interview but it was quite vague. They said congratulations that they were going to recommend me to the company to go on to the assessment centre holding on the 27th / 28th of april. I'm sort of confused because I assumed there'd be a second phone interview and it seems that even if you pass the interview with gti the company's HR decides who goes on to the AC. They said they'll be passing on the full list of candidates to BAT on the 8th of April. This is for finance though. Good Luck everyone.

    Hello guys,

I also got the same e-mail saying that the outcome wil be available before or after the 25th March. I completed my tests in the end of January and still do not have any news if I passed or not them. I have applied for the Finance graduate scheme in the UK.

Good luck to all of you. Btw I am from the Netherlands

I still haven't received any information about the numerical and logical tests, but they sent me an e-mail yesterday saying that they are aware of this and ask for patience. They also said that they'd received so many applications that they'd decided to extend the deadline for accepting them. It's now till 25th March.
I don't know if it's the same in each and every country, though. I'm from Poland.

anyone got an email saying they passed the telephone yet?

  • 16 March 2011 - 2:44pm
    • thea

i wish i had a lot to say!:) i didn't... she asked me to speak slowly so i did.. and i was also caught off guarded with some qs like 'how can hr help an organisation deal with change' and i was trying to think what to there u go!
of course some qs were easier to answer but some were quite hard to answer..actually i think it was one of the most difficult telephone interviews i've undergone.
if i remember more qs i'll post them, if i can help why not?
anyways, thank you livia. good luck to you too.

  • 16 March 2011 - 1:15pm
    • livia

Oh my God... an hour? you had so much to say? :) wow, that sounds impressive.
And I have to say that when I read all the qs, I don't feel prepared at all... :(
Salary expectations? unexpected feedback? proposing sth despite opposition? :)
Well, maybe I won't have to worry since they still haven't responded ;)
Thanks a lot Thea, it's very nice of you to share your experiences and qs :)
    Good luck.

hey! what it happening? does my pc post messages on its own?
anyway i think it was ok, the questions were pretty hard at one time i was left with no examples to give for the competency questions and i was like.."i am really sorry i do not have any further examples of that". and the questions were soooo many!!! the interview lasted an hour.
and tip: she told me to speak slowly because she was taking notes so do not speak very quick bc it is not for your benefit.

livia and anyone else interested some of the numerous questions were:

    why bat
    why hr
    salary expectations
are u in other recruitment processes
a time u proposed something new depsite opposition
how do u feel working for a tobacco company
    how to search for candidates
how can hr help an organisation deal with change
a time u pushed yourself to achieve a difficult goal
a time u received an unexpected feedback
do u have questions for us

i am sure there are more that i have already forgot but this is pretty much what they ask. they said they will give me an answer in two weeks

Hey I applied for the Leaf Operations program in the UK. Yeah I hope so nevertheless I am a little bit worried for the AC being so late. I'm in several other recruitment processes that will have developments sooner. If you know anything about the AC let me know.

Hey :) Congrats on your interview. If you feel you did well, you'll definitely pass to the next round :) Which dep have you applied for?
I'm still waiting for any info about the results of my tests. I'm getting worried.
    All the best ;)

    Hey Guys,
I think I did well in the interview, but I am still waiting to know if I get the final call for the assessment center that I think it will be held in May. The lady from recruitment told me the provisional dates were in the end of May what is I reckon pretty late.
Does anyone of you has more information on this? (dates)

you're right, thanks a lot anyway for all the support and help!
    fingers crossed it goes well!

  • 14 March 2011 - 6:04pm
    • kaema

Thea no, they didn't asked about economic recession. Why are you worry about tobacco question?? Just say what you think! ;) I said (maybe it wasnt't so good I dont know...) that buissnes is buissnes and as long as they give all the informations about consequences of smoking I don't have nothing against it. I chose BAT because of opportunieties they give... doesnt really matter to me if its tobbaco company or food company....

And yes im lucky :> I will wait longer for respond :D

  • 14 March 2011 - 5:29pm
    • thea

mine was two days after the logical test.. they're quite quick! so good luck livia!
if you have any further news about your application, please post!

yes, quite nervous! more nervous about the hr questions and the ones about tobacco!

i was wondering, did they ask you kaema about the economic recession? or about the graduate programme itself?

    lucky kaema, you're done!

  • 14 March 2011 - 4:21pm
    • kaema

I got an email to schedule interview a day after taking logical test.

good luck to you too ;))

    Thea, how are you? Nervous?

  • 14 March 2011 - 10:35am
    • livia

    Hi guys :)
I've applied to the HR division. I've already taken the numerical and logical reasoning tests on Friday and I'm waiting for a response.
I'm a bit scared after kamea said they ask some strict HR questions. How long did you have to wait for the phone interview after you took the online tests, kamea? :)
Good luck to all of you :)
BTW, I think that the 'catch up' call is a good sign so don't worry :)

  • 11 March 2011 - 12:01pm
    • thea

that's weird.. i've never heard of such a 'catch up' before.
yeah it's quite long.. well, what to do?

  • 11 March 2011 - 10:47am
    • kaema

    Thanks Thea ;)

They've just called me again out of the blue.... "Just to catch up after my interview" but the lady asked again about my motivation. She said that further information will be at the end of april... Quite long to wait :(

  • 10 March 2011 - 5:12pm
    • thea

No, don't say that. Sometimes we judge ourselves too hard. Yes, you might had a little difficutly in expressing your view but still, the interviewer might liked what you did say after all.

Thank you for your wishes although i also believe that it is going to be too hard to get to the next stage :)

  • 10 March 2011 - 3:39pm
    • kaema

Actually I must sound weird. For some questions I talk and talk, others like:

What challenges face tobacco company HR in the current situation on the market?
How to search for candidates to work in the company of tobacco?
    What difficulties can meet recruiters?

I tried to say what I think, but I just wasn't prepared for that so I ended mumbling with a great lack of words... like i couldnt speak english at all...

So my feeling is not too good :/

This is my first application to BAT - and must say that I was suprise that recruitment process is so International... I was sure that if I got to AC it will be in Poland. But i dont worry... i think there's no way I get so far after that interview... ;)

So really really good luck to you!!!!!!! ;)

i was stressed - prepared but not for everything. I feel tired now :D

He said that they will give further info in two weeks and Assessment is in May in UK.

So you didn't apply to BAT erlier?

    When exactly is your interview?
