CAPGEMINI Assesment Day

16 August 2008 - 3:35pm
g-man

Hi,

I have an assesment day for Capgemini coming up soon. There doesn't seem to be a lot of information on the net or these forums about what to expect on the day, for this organisation.

Has anyone had an assesement day here? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Cheers

I went for the assessment day yesterday for the CDC Management Consulting programme. It was pretty alright. We did the group exercise first, then the verbal reasoning test, and finally the interview.

The group exercise was alright, we were given 15 minutes to read through a number of documents, then 30 minutes to deliberate on a decision. We were 6 in the group, and I really don't think it went well because we did not really stick to agenda, and were unable to conclude on time.

As for the verbal reasoning test, I just did not finish.

In in interview, I prepared the document, and presented it in about 18 minutes, but the interviewer did not ask any questions, neither was I interrupted, so I do not know if I did well or not. There was another on the stop case study which was alright, and finally about 6 competency questions, some were similar to those during the telephone interview.

They said they were going to get back to us within the same day, but I have not heard anything and its the second day now.

I am still quite optimistic, but does anyone have any experience whereby they were gotten back to later than expected, but still got the job? Also, did anyone attend the assessment centre on the 15th of Jan, and has anyone heard anything back yet? I would really appreciate any insight.

I got my rejection the other day but I'm not too fussed as I got an offer from somewhere else on the same day. Anyway, here's the feedback they gave me regarding the assessment centre if it's any use:

Apparently I failed on the case study, which I kind of knew about at the time. My problem was that I went in to far too much detail; they only want the key points/ big ideas. You need to have information and analysis to back these points up if they ask for it, but don't go into it unless asked. I did and didn't get it finished, so it was a bit of a disaster.

In the group discussion they said that I came across as very affable and that I made a lot of really good points, which they liked, but I just kind of threw them out there without really following them through/ getting the team on board/ bringing us forward. Basically if you feel like you have a good point to make, try to get people to committ to it. I was saying "I think we should do this, what does everybody think?" and leaving it open for discussion. I should have been saying "I think we should do this, do you all agree?" Then if I got a positive response I should have moved forward with "I think this is how we should do it". I wasn't assertive enough apparently.

    Hope this helps.

I had an assessment day with them for their management consulting program about two weeks ago. We were told that we'd hear back within a week, but still no word. I have emailed and phoned, but nothing! I'm really keen on the job so this is kinda killing me. Anyone else have similar experiences?

    Hi guys

Does anyone know that how our performance at Capgemini BTC Assessment Centre is evaluated?

Do we have to pass each task (interview, test, group discussion etc) or do they evaluate overall performance at the end?

What about if someone has done much better in interview than group discussion and etc?

I would really appreciate any valuable advice.

    Regards

Received an email from Capgemini saying they are deeply sorry and will have to cancel my assessment centre and will arrange an alternative date in the future. Has anyone else
    had anything similar happen?

    Hi all,

I have a telephone interview next week for the management consultant programme of Capgemini.

Can someone give me an idea of the questions that are asked for this programme?

Are the questions same for experience people (work experience) and people who are fresh graduates or will they be different?

Looking forward to hearing from you guys soon.....

    Regards,
    DA

    Hey guys,
Firstly by 'extra curricular activities' they just mean can you tell them about a time when you have done something that wasn't academically compulsory, e.g. managed your local football team, raised money for a charity (anything really which shows you participated in some additional activity).

I still haven't had my AC guys its in 2 weeks and there's a case study to prepare for as well. If anyone can provide any tips on the group task and case study presentation in particular it would be very much appreciated (such as the type of scenario and the points that they are looking for). When I have had mine i will be sure to help others with any questions.

    Regards
    siddis.

Can anyone please provide me with feedback on the AC for BTC. How do I go about preparing for it and what are the most likely Q's to asked. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.......

I have my AC nxt month

Hey Thomas you're best off contacting them directly.

I just returned from a 3 weeks holiday and have been successful in the telephone interview and asked to come to an assessment centre next month for the BTC scheme. The interview was fairly straight forward, almost identical to the question posted on here (what do you know about CG? Who are their competitors? Time when you have worked in a team? Time when you have worked under pressure to complete a task?)

Bruma I am also wondering whether SHL will be involved, although everything I have heard is that the tests on the day are easier than the SHL ones.

I wanted to know if anyone had any advice for the group task and interview (will there be a case study like others have mentioned)? Any advice would be great ! Mahat did you have you AC then, how did it go?

Had my telephone interview and the questions were quite similar to all posts; asking about development cycle, future IT trends and why u want to work for them and what you know about them. It lasted for about 30 mins and felt so informal which was a bit relaxing.

Been invited to come for the assessment, does anyone have any tips in regards to this, is SHL involved at this stage. Its for the BTC

    Thanks

Hey mohamms thanks for the prompt reply, it's good to know that the question follow a similar pattern. I wish you luck and hope you get into the program succesfully! I'm just hoping someone rings me and arranges this interview soon, im eager to get it done!

Mahat if you could please, any tips for the BTC telephone interview specifically will greatly help, were you asked any question which differed to the ones already on this wiki page? e.g. why business technology consulting? etc..

    Thanks in advance!

Hey mohammhs, I also have a telephone interview (for the BTC scheme). However it’s been 4 weeks since I was told I would be contacted but still no one has got back to me. I emailed them and received a reply today saying that someone tried to contact me and couldn't get through. I have replied back and am hoping for someone to arrange it with me soon. I take it you have had your phone interview, how did it go? Were the questions similar to last year? Also what program did you apply for?

    Hey Siddis,

hope ur well. Yeh ive had my tel interview and ive even been to an assessment centre. Just waitin for a reply now. I applied for the aspire programme. The tel interview was similar to last years. U need to know ur stuff about capo i.e. what they do, their competitors, wot industries they serve...etc.

Then its the usual competency based questions about teamwork, wot the future hold for IT and cap, how did you motivate a team or urself to meet a personal goal.

Hope u get your thing sorted.

    Hello everyone,

I would like to share my story with regards to the BTC programme.
I attended the March assessment and was successful. I first received the conditional offer late March and the unconditional in May.
Everything was going by the plan. I was even contacted by my "buddy", who gave me some advices and tips.

Last Wednesday (almost a week ago) I got a call from the programme coordinator that they are cancelling all recruitment (graduate and non-graduate) for all future intakes (until further notice).
I was offered a compensation of one month and the option to express my interest for the Aspire programme.

Needless to say I was shocked. I was told about that 2 days before my last day at my previous job. Not to mention all the "embarrassment" of having to tell everyone that I am jobless.

I was trying to find more online concerning this situation (tried the web and google news) but there is nothing relevant.

In anyone else in the same position with me?

    Hi Sarah,

I have an interview with Cap next week as a technical consultant and I've been told I will be given a case study and will need to do a role play with the interviewer. I think the case study is related to a merger and I have to write a proposal for them. I have no more information other than this.

Does anyone know what kind of case study I will be given?

I'm going for a technical consultant role.

    Alright guys,

I just got the exact same resonponse, saying that Their 2009 intake is now full. This is pretty annoying seeing as I only had the teleint on friday and they had obviously said the same thing to you guys before that had even taken place.

Im going to try and give them a bell and see if they can clear this up a little better.

    • womble31

well glad to see I'm not alone.

katerina, I take your point about it not necessarily being a rejection, its just so frustrating because I have had this type of response from a couple of other companies (Grant Thornton and Fujitsu) as well now.

It also leaves a particularly sour taste given that all of these companies have professed their resilience to the economic climate...I guess this is how they achieve such resilience!

They've put back those who were due to begin in March to September (2009), i.e. those who have already been made offers, so they're definitely holding out on giving offers.

  • 12 February 2009 - 12:16pm
    • afrazj

Who said they had pushed back those starting in March to September?

I'm starting in March and as far as i'm aware i haven't been pushed back!

  • 2 February 2009 - 5:57pm
    • katerina83

Plus in the interview that I had with them the interviewer told me that he heard things for Capgemini that he hadn't heard before...so I am almost sure that it wasn't a rejection....I strongly believe they have hard times due to the economic crisis....

Not sure what to make of that.

I had my telephone interview the other day, so will let you know when I hear the outcome.

Hello, womble 31...the same happened with me...I had my interview on the 5th of January and I got the same message...Personally, I don't think its a rejection...If a canditate is unsuccessful usually receives a rejection email shortly after the interview stating clearly that he/she was unsuccessful....I guess they are having problems due to the credit crunch...it was I guess another way of telling us that they don't plan to recruit any more canditates...They didn't refer anywhere in the email that we were unsuccessful with the interview...if we were they wouldn't care to keep our CVs for further reference in case the situation changes...I know it's really unprofessional for such a big company...Can u imagine??? I was waiting for them so long just to learn that they won't have any more assessment centres...Anyways...

  • 2 February 2009 - 5:40pm
    • womble31

I had a telephone interview for the CDC on 14 January, it took them over three weeks to get back to me and when they did the email said they had filled all the places in their ACs for this years recruitment, but they are always interested in good candidtaes and so are keeping my details for 6 months.

Not sure exactly how to take this, if its a rejection why do they behave this way? seriously immature.

And as an indicator as to why they're taking so long to get back to people, in my last correspondence they mentioned that they can't even guarantee how many or even if they'll definitely be offering places following the assessment day!

The time between completing my application and receiving the offer of the assessment day was about 4 weeks, I applied in early November last year. They've obviously tightened up considerably and are being very, very hesitant.

    Hi,

Got the CDC assessment day quite soon and was wondering if anyone can offer any advice particularly on the 20 minute case study we've been asked to present (mine's about a high-street coffee chain). Is it a formal presentation, i.e. just you presenting for 20 minutes followed by questions, with handouts/slides etc.?

    Thanks

  • 14 January 2009 - 5:13pm
    • Alexander_Green

I've got a phone interview for the CDC consultancy coming up on Friday, having sent my application form in and done the verbal reasoning test way back in November, so it seems they take quite a while over it all. I guess maybe after everyone's done their phone interviews they decide who they want to get to the AC. I thought they'd forgotten about me it was so long.

Just to clarify, Capgemini run several different schemes, in which different interview expectations and questions will be asked. Make sure you know which scheme you are applying to, and which to prepare for.

'Management consultancy' and 'Business Technology Consultancy' will be different!
