Candidates applying to Spectrum Value Partners undergo a two stage recruitment process, detailed below.
First Stage Interview
The first stage interview process is as follows:
- CV interview (30 mins)
- Case study interview (30 mins) (an example of which is provided here)
- Written exercise (45 mins)
- Critical reasoning numeracy exercise (45 mins)
Written Exercise
Examples of topics for the written exercise:
- Should governments care about who owns media companies?
- What is the benefit of having faster broadband?
- Why should any sports events continue to be reserved for free-to-air TV?
- What is the best way of using newly available spectrum: high definition TV, TV broadcasting to mobiles or other services and why?
- What risks to society arise from the digital revolution?
Second Round Interview
The second round interview process is as follows:
- Presentation interview (30mins preparation + 45 mins presentation)
- Case study interview (45 mins)
Presentation
Candidates must present one topic chosen from a list. You are given 30 minutes to prepare, follwed by 45 minutes in which to present and answer questions about the case study.
Examples of topics:
- Is there a role for a licence-fee funded BBC in a digital wold?
- Will the value of sports rights rise or fall?
- You are the CEO of a major music label: what is your vision for the company's future?
- How should mobile phones operators' brands evolve over the next five years?
- On what should Google focus over the next five years?
