Secondments
Secondment refers to the opportunity many employers provide employees to work within a different area of the company, by making an internal transfer. This includes transferring to a different work area in the same office (such as switching from an HR role to a managerial position), transferring to another office to continue their current job (such as moving from London to Edinburgh, or London to Australia) or a combination of the two.
The chance of working within a different specialism or office allows employees to enjoy a more varied working life and gain new perspectives on their own career as well as the company they work for.
Employers also benefit from staff secondments. Allowing employees to move within a company improves communications and the dispersal of ideas and skill sets within the workforce. Secondment also helps to increase employee's job satisfaction (and consequently output) for the benefit of all.
