PwC Audit & Assurance


PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) is one of the world's largest professional services company, formed in 1998 from a merger between Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand.

The firm employs 17,000 people in the UK and has about 800 UK partners. Recent turnover is approximately £2bn.

The firm has five main lines of service:

Approximately 50% of the firm's revenue is from assurance.

Graduate Schemes Available

PwC hires thousands of graduates a year. Ratios of applicants to places vary across lines of service, but are approximately 10:1.

For entry onto a graduate scheme, a minimum of a 2.1 in any degree specialism is required. The intake consists of 50% business, finance and accounting university graduates, and 50% from any other degree course.

The home office permits PwC to hire up to 5% foreign nationals with a work permit for its Assurance and Tax lines. PwC provide information about work permits here.

There are approximately 200 positions available for London Assurance per annum.

Internships Available

There are summer internships and longer term placements available to current university students and gap year students. There is also a 6 month graduate internship open to anyone in their final year of university or recently graduated.

PwC offer short internships (8 weeks usually in the summer) and 6-12 month business placements.

There are also two-day insight courses available, which offer a glimpse into the world of PwC.

Academic Requirements

For all graduate schemes PwC require a 2.1 degree in any subject area.
Applicants also need to meet the minimum number of UCAS points (A-Level) for the area they have applied to:

  • For Assurance and Tax - 280 points (equivalent to BBC)
  • For Advisory and Strategy- 340 points (equivalent to AAB)
  • For Actuarial- 320 points (equivalent to ABB)
