PSL

PSL tests are a type of verbal and numerical psychometric test produced by Kenexa and administered to job applicants, either online, or at assessment centres.

Several large firms use PSL tests as part of their recruitment process, including Lloyds TSB and Deloitte.

Candidates can take practice PSL tests on the PSL / Kenexa website.

35 out of 40 - 88% not sure if that's a good score or not. Does anyone know?

That website sucks, they give you really crappy questions for the numerical reasoning test and then don't tell you what you got wrong.
I got 10/12 on the numerical reasoning test but I didn't see any mistakes and they won't tell me any, very annoying.
And I'd say 88% was good but what test were you doing that had 40 questions??

Fast Eddie

yeah I know what you mean. I guess just have a long hard look at them

It was the verbal reasoning test

I normally suck at those but am much better at the numerical one's

Cheers

I wonder if we can find any resources for practise.
Because the examples given on the website of psl or the other examples that I find online are very very easy comparing to the real ones that the companies send..

Are there any examples more similar to real tests?
Where can we find them?

Thanks

Can Some one explain this

The gas provider Centrica has seen its half-year profits fall by 20% to £992 million. Despite this it has decided to increase its dividend to shareholders to 3.9p per share. The rise in energy prices released before the announcement of Centrica's profits was designed, said the company, to restore "reasonable profitability". The chief executive, Sam Laidlaw, said, "We produced a good set of results in tough market conditions... we will continue to concentrate on improving customer service in British Gas..." This is an interesting statement given the record rise in prices to households. The announcement of profits which are not far off one billion pounds, a day after the announcement of the rise in price and the increase in dividend to shareholders, is likely to provoke angry reaction. Many will question the extent of the market power that Centrica possesses. There will also be those that will question what the phrase 'reasonable profitability' means in the context of profits of nearly one billion pounds.

Question:' Announcing large profits, soon after announcing price rises, is likely to provoke angry reaction.

Correct Answer
True

I think it has to be cannot say bc in the the passage it is stated
"The announcement of profits which are not far off one billion pounds, a day after the announcement of the rise in price and the increase in dividend to shareholders, is likely to provoke angry reaction. "

It is unclear that the public provocation is probably bc of increase in prices and the increase in shareholder dividends, second being the more important one the price rise and profit on their own are not good enough reasons.

I think you maybe over-thinking it a little, djVix. I would have chosen the statement is 'true'.

The following is a good website to practice the verbal and numerical reasoning tests however, I sat a PSL test for Grant Thornton and it is more difficult than the SHL practice tests...Still worth a go though. http://www.shl.com/default.aspx
