Lovells Vacation Placements

Vacation Placements

[Edit]

Individuals gravitating towards a career in the law have the opportunity, through the firm's vacation placements, to gain exposure to life and work in a City law firm.

Approximately 50% of the 90 graduates who are typically offered a training contract by Lovells will have participated in one of our placements.

The firm offers 90 vacation placements each year:

  • Christmas: 3 - 14 December 2007
  • Easter: 17 - 28 March 2008
  • Summer 1: 16 June - 4 July 2008
  • Summer 2: 14 July - 1 August 2008

Lovells provide structured programmes to help you get involved in real work with real clients in much the same way as the firm’s trainees.

You will be drafting, attending meetings, doing legal research and, where possible, attending court. You will also find out about the firm's broad range of practice areas by attending lunchtime talks and workshops, learn how to run a meeting, attend a corporate workshop, undertake a presentation and of course spend your time working with other interns. Furthermore you will receive training in presentation skills and attend an advocacy workshop, all of which is not good training, but a great talking point for future interviews at other law firms.

Vacation placements also offer the chance to participate in a variety of social events, meeting trainee solicitors, lawyers and partners.

Vacation Scheme Salary

[Edit]

Students will be paid £300 per week whilst undergoing vacation placements at Lovells. The firm also offer a small number of successful candidates the opportunity to complete an additional two week internship in our New York, Chicago, Paris, and Frankfurt offices. Candidates interested in Paris and Frankfurt must have A-level standard French and German. The international placements are available in the summer and successful candidates will spend a total of five weeks with the firm.
