Investment management

Investment management is the professional management of various securities (for example, bonds and shares) and assets (such as real estate), to meet specified investment goals for the benefit of investors. Investors in this instance may be institutions (e.g insurance companies, pension funds, corporations) or private investors.

Asset management is a term often used to describe the investment management of collective investments, whilst the more generic term fund management may refer to all forms of institutional investment as well as investment management for private investors.
