Despite its small size, Goldman Sachs is certainly one of the most prestigious investment banks, well known particularly for its lavish salaries and incredible offices.

Goldman Sachs operate several lines of service, most specifically being:

Although in principle there is a great deal of crossover between the work done by different lines of service, the type of people required to perform those tasks varies greatly. For example, private wealth management requires people with exceptional personal skills who will be good dealing with clients. Conversely, traders will require higher technical ability and will not deal with clients directly.

Hi all,

I went through GS careers website and couldn't find any academic requirements for their graduate programmes. Any help would be much appreciated.
Also, do they prefer IT/Computer Science graduates for their Technology roles?
I truly find the website quite unhelpful in the matter of what they really want from you.

Thanks!

it's open now- they have updated the closing dates on the website. I sent mine off a month ago and one application has 'been received' and the other is 'under review'. Do you know if they wait until the closing date before getting back to applicants, or shall I take it as an automatic no-no that they haven't got back to me within a couple of weeks?

Good luck!

@matt89

I"m quite sure they wait until the deadline to reply to your application (which is weird for an investment bank)! So don't worry! :D
I sent mine off a couple of days ago and it says "Application under review".
Best of luck!!

thanks- you too! I think I have bullsed it up though as my cover letter was a bit too generic, but i guess I will have to wait and see. Also I'm not from Oxbridge which probably doesn't help! Good luck to you too!

Hello Y'all,

I'm really stuck and confused at the moment. I don't know what to do with my life. I'm afraid of closing one door permanently if I open the other.

Sincerely appreciate any advice on my dilemma (at the risk of sounding conceited)

I have the following offers and need to choose between them, please keep in mind that I am a Computer Engineering undergraduate in London, interned at Rabobank (Dutch IB in IT Infrastructure) last year and am open to anything in terms of career path.

(1) Goldman Sachs - Business Analyst Intern in their London client facing team for 10 weeks

(2) Google - Software Engineering Intern in their Zurich IT Field team for minimum of 3 months

In terms of package and benefits they both pay the same, taking into account I must relocate for Google.

Thanks heaps!

P.S : Why is life so hard? :(
