Hi all, just thought I'd share my experience with you! I was quite excited about enterprise because of the advertised fast-track management opportunities. Had a telephone screening with them which lasted around 10 mins. Had to give actual examples of times when i did things e.g. when you gave excellent customer service etc. Wasn't hard and I was very happy when I was invited to a one-to-one with a recruitment manager. This is when I found out that the role was not really what I was looking for because it was so focussed on sales and sales techniques etc there was only one question about leadership/management (the reason i wanted the job). The interviewer said I would be contracted to work a 50-55 hour week (note 'contracted' i.e. in reality it could be much longer with overtime). He gave me an example and said I would often be scheduled to finish at say 6 but have to stay on till 10pm- which I wouldn't be so bothered about but the starting salary is only 16,000 for everyone with no negotiations and when I asked him what my average day would consist of as a 'management trainee' he said i would spend most my time driving customers around, washing a few cars, being on 2-3 telephones at one time in the office and gaining customers trust so i can sell them add-ons like car insurance and car upgrades etc. It just didn't sound like management training at all. However, I would have been fine with this if there was a chance for promotion within sight- but there was not; after a job applicant passes their telephone screen, recruiter interview, job trial, second interview and assesment centre they get the job of 'management trainee' but if they want to be promoted in the future they have to go through 'the grill' which is a board of FIVE area managers firing questions at you about the buisness along with several other activities- it takes a day! It seemed as though they almost wanted employees to stay in the role of trainee for as long as possible. And if you do pass the grill what's the reward? a measley 600 quid pay rise a year and a change of job title to 'manager assistant'. I asked the difference between the trainee and the assistant role and he said "there is no difference at all in the work you do". This I couldn't believe to be honest. Because if I would be doing THE SAME job why don't I get the same pay? And what on earth is the point in enduring such a long selection process just to change your job title, not the job content- no extra responsibilities, nothing, just the same, washing cars answering the phone and providing a taxi service for people. The stage after this? You can attempt to apply for an 'assistant manager' role (note this IS different to the previous 'manager assistant' role- even my interviewer got mixed up a couple of times. I mean really, what a stupid thing to simply swap the two words around.) Again, you will have to go through another interview if you want this (as if they don't know enough about you already). If you have got this far and not died from soap poisoning from all the cars you have washed (or bordom from ferrying customers around) then fair play to you and good luck in applying and interviewing (yes, another interview process) to become a store manager. Anyway they did offer me the next interview but (unsuprisingly) i said no thanks. Don't get me wrong, I'm up for long hours, late nights and working my way up- but the enterprise scheme was a real disappointment- just a pushy sales job/ taxi service with no real rewards and no apparent management training- something that I could do without studying for three years and without going through a million different interviews and assesment days! But if you have a burning passion to work in sales and aren't bothered about progression or rewards then enterprise may be for you. Sorry this is so long but I hope it's been of some use to people :) Cheers. H.

I had a similar experience to the comment above. Their 'competitive' salary is anything but competitive and the only reason they don't disclose the salary on their website is because they know it is low. It is £16,000 for a 50-55 hour week so of course it would be nearer the 55hour end!

I also got through to the stage of meeting a recruitment manager for an interview following a telephone interview that was 10-15minutes late and it wasn't with the person I was told it was going to be with. Then when arranging when to have my face to face interview, the confirmation email was also wrong with the time and who I was seeing being incorrect.

I failed to get through to the next round therefore I asked for some feedback. My e-mail was ignored even though I'd done the online application, a telephone interview and a face to face interview. It all seems a bit unprofessional so all in all I'm glad I didn't get through!
