Due diligence
Due diligence, when used in the context of a merger or acquisition, is the process by which a company and its imminent transaction is examined by an independent body (such as a Big 4 auditor) to ascertain that the subject companies are truthful in their disclosures, and the transaction will proceed smoothly.
It falls into the category of Transaction Services.
