Distribution

Also known as supply chain or logistics, distribution is a role that requires you to organise the transport and delivery of goods within a retail business. You will be responsible for maximising profit through supply management. If you deliver too much stock to one place, increased wastage may increase overall costs. If you deliver too little stock, overall profit may be reduced, if demand is greater than supply.

What Will I be Doing?

[Edit]

Supply chain managers/distributors organise the logistical side of sourcing and purchasing (for Buyers), and will need to arrange transport, warehousing and end distribution. Distributors may also be involved with customer home delivery services, integrating IT systems within distribution services and taking responsible for "reverse logistics" (the return of reusable goods for recycling and/or the return of unwanted goods).

Salary

[Edit]

Starting salaries for distributors vary between £15,000 and £25,000 depending on the size of the firm you are joining.
