I have Bloomberg interview on 23 rd of this month, for the post of financial Sales and analytic position. The interview is really easy with some motivational question.
The recruiter HR i think so is an lady and really tough. She asked questions which are related to the company and the post, which I am applying. The questions are as follows:-
1.Walk me through your resume -it bit like Tell me about yourself?
2. Why do u want to work for bloomberg?
3. What do you think bloomberg is business is?
4. Can u tell about the position, which you are applying for?
5. If u are given some, where you will invest? equities/ bonds
6. Tell me about the bloomberg products other than bloomber proesional? Can you expalin me how the bloomberg enterprise works?
The answer for the 5 th question is that, I will diversify my portfolio so that I would make risky and risk less investments. As humans have the financial constraints at every level.
I answered all the questions in precise manner, which made her to silent and did not ask for any questions regarding the answers, which I have provided. She said really the answers are really impressive.
Then she said asked again the fourth questions and tried confuse me, that this role in regarding the customer service. What the answers you are giving is related to the finance. Then responded that I don't have customer service experience rather that I do have experience in supporting the clients, {Which although I really don't have}
What ever I said i supported my arguments "If u don't have any financial knowledge how could u answer the clients quires which are really need financial knowledge?
They will try to trick you, don't fall into the trap.........thats what I can say finally.
I have prepared a list of answers for the interview, which I am posting. Guys any one need this use this one....but dont copy and say as it is ok
Tell me about yourself?
I am an energetic, well-organized graduate with strong passion for understanding financial markets and driven by client service, which is why I am searching for opportunities such as sales and analytics position in Bloomberg. I have good analytical mind, where I can breakdown complex information into easy to understand ways. My experience in client facing role includes receiving incoming calls and email messages from the client’s project manager and provide solutions to their requirements. If the client’s requirements are above my expertise level, I would pass the inquiry to the concerned department seniors and managers. Most of the time I identify requirements of the clients and prepared concept offerings, business requirements, development specifications, Statistical (SAS) documentation. And these requirements are documented according to the company’s procedures for Management Reviews.
And I was born and raised in India, did my under graduation Industrial Biotechnology major as and business management as minor. After working as business analyst as entry level working directly with the clients and as I would like move further in my career path, I came to conclusion to increase my level of expertise in the field of management. So I came to Bradford for a Graduate degree in international business and management.

Adaptive Skills - may be referred to as school-to-work transition skills or basic skills necessary for acquiring and keeping a job. As we enter the 21st century, the workplace will be more dependent on technology. Not only must people in the workforce know how to read, write, and do math, they must also be able to use computers. The SCANS Report for America 2000 lists the competencies effective workers have as:
basic skills (reading, writing, arithmetic and mathematics, speaking and listening); thinking skills (thinking creatively, making decisions, solving problems, seeing things in the mind's eye, knowing how to learn, and reasoning); and personal qualities (individual responsibility, self-esteem, sociability, self-management, and integrity)."
The following list is an example of the kinds of skills termed adaptive:
• Getting along with fellow employees, Professional telephone technique, Listening to and following directions, Dependability, Ability to work independently, quick learner.
Transferable Skills - are skills that are useful in many job situations. Employers often ask for good communication skills. This includes the adaptive skills of reading and writing, as well as the transferable skills of public speaking, training, writing reports, etc. The following is a list of several transferable skills:
Synthesize data and concepts, Analyze, make decisions, Identify problems and provide solutions, Persuade and lead, Plan and organize projects and/or people. Observe and evaluate things.
Bond: In finance, a bond is a debt security, in which the authorized issuer owes the holders a debt and, depending on the terms of the bond, is obliged to payinterest (the coupon) to use and/or to repay the principal at a later date, termed maturity.
Equity:- In accounting and finance, equity is the residual claim or interest of the most junior class of investors in assets, after all liabilities are paid
A derivative is a financial instrument whose value depends on underlying variables. The most common derivatives are futures, options, and swaps but may also include other trade-able assets such as a stock or commodity or non-tradeable items such as the temperature (in the case of weather derivatives), the unemployment rate, or any kind of (economic) index. [1] A derivative is essentially a contract whose payoff depends on the behavior of a benchmark.
One of the oldest derivatives is rice futures, which have been traded on the Dojima Rice Exchange-Japan since the eighteenth century.
The classes are:
• Stocks or equities, Fixed Income or bonds, Money market or cash equivalents, Real estate or other tangible assets These are the classes of assets you have available to build a portfolio. One might notice that all stocks are lumped together, when individual stocks (or mutual funds for that matter) can be quite different. For example, a small-cap stock is not going to act the same way as General Electric.
However, stocks are grouped together because they will, as a group, react more alike than any of the other three classes. The same thing is true for the other three classes. The purpose of having all four asset classes represented in your portfolio is to take advantage of the different strengths of each class. The whole theory of asset allocation is based on diversifying your portfolio by asset class. Read an introduction to asset allocation for more information.
Many people use Real Estate Investment Trusts and other more liquid investments to satisfy the real estate leg of the asset class tool Read an article on REITs.
ConclusionA portfolio that only contains one or two asset classes is not diversified and may not be prepared to take advantage of all the swings the market can throw at you.
