Balance Sheet

The balance sheet of a company is a quantitative listing of the total assets of the company on a specific date. It is usually a standardised layout that consists of assets and liabilities. It is known as the balance sheet as it must balance, i.e. satisfy the accounting equation:

Assets + (Liabilities) = Shareholder's Equity (Capital)
