The University of Nottingham is one of the most popular universities in the country with in excess of 40,000 applications each year; and rankings in the UK Top 10 and World Top 100 according to the Times Higher World University Rankings. It is a research-led institution; the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise declared 60% of Nottingham’s research to be of “world leading” quality. The university offers more than 300 postgraduate courses across seven main areas: arts; business, law and social sciences; education; engineering; built environment; medicine and health sciences; and science.

Nottingham’s main campus sits on the outskirts of the city, but the institution as a whole also has a further 4 campuses in the Nottingham area, plus sites in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Ningbo, China. The original University College Nottingham was formally opened in 1881, but moved to a new campus in 1928 where it has remained ever since. Nottingham is considered one of the top universities in the UK for post-graduation employment, particularly in Law – the 2008 Times High Fliers named it in the top 3 most targeted UK universities for leading graduate recruiters.
