What do you do?

I work within IT, in an IT functional area called Technology Infrastructure Services (TIS). I work as a Business Manager for the Regional Deploy and Operate department. Our department deploys, maintains and supports the bank’s information technology infrastructure within Switzerland.

My role as Business Manager includes both strategic and operational tasks. To run a business of this nature, a number of processes need to be in place: investments and hiring have to be coordinated; projects need project managers and funding; plans have to be drawn up and overall performance managed. In all these processes, the Business Management team facilitates and provides leadership.

I am specifically responsible for the organisation's performance management, including objective setting, monthly business reviews and business continuity planning. My clients are mostly internal, and I work with different line managers within TIS as well as people from other areas of the bank.

How did you get started in your career and what drew you to Credit Suisse?

I started my career as a Key Account Manager for an IT consultancy based in London. This was my entry into the IT sector. My role was to identify business critical needs in specific IT market sectors, to acquire new clients and to expand relationships with strategic clients.

When I moved to Switzerland via this consultancy, I focused on the financial market, and this is how I learned about Credit Suisse. I soon joined Credit Suisse as an IT Recruiting Manager. Later on, I transferred into Credit Suisse's IT division, and for the past four years, have been working within the global IT Infrastructure of the bank.

TIS is real global organization, and supports the bank’s business, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all around the world. My colleagues are based in the Americas, Switzerland, Europe and Asia Pacific. I have worked and built many relationships with people from other continents.

Please describe a typical work day.

Every day brings something new - a new challenge or a new idea to come up with. I could be working on performance management concepts, or planning activities and content for the next upcoming management offsite. I am constantly looking ways to deliver process improvements and standardization to help our organization become more efficient. I also have many meetings with internal clients to align them with different topics and I keep track of deliverables to certain deadlines.

Why should people choose Credit Suisse?  How would you describe our culture?

Our culture is innovative, results-oriented, open-minded, dynamic and international. Every day brings new experiences and challenges, a new solution to create, or an idea to develop further.
