So what is an Internal Auditor?

An internal auditor focuses on the adequacy and effectiveness of the processes and controls that that are performed in a business. This is different from an external (Financial) auditor who will look to establish that the accounts are materially correct through a variety of tests. An internal audit review can be performed on a variety of different areas of the business; from the finance department to the mailing department; ensuring it is sufficiently controlled.  More often than not an internal auditor goes into so much detail that they gain a very in-depth picture of the operations of companies from the inside thus giving them a very transferable and marketable breadth of knowledge of how a company is run. Mazars service line is called GRIC (Governance, Risk and Internal Controls).

Professional Training and support
Depending on which office you join, and whether you are a school leaver or graduate, you will join one of our professional training schemes for Internal Auditors.

As we have a significant presence in the Insurance market, some trainees will commence study for the CII (Chartered Insurance Institute). The CII provides market led qualifications which serve all sectors of the insurance industry and cater for all levels of knowledge and experience. Studying for the Advanced Diploma will involve a three year training contract with Mazars, and successful completion will allow you the use of the designation “ACII”.

Alternatively you could join an office with a greater emphasis on public sector clients and study for a professional qualification such as AAT (if you are a school leaver) or IIA (Institute of Internal Auditors).

However, with Mazars, your professional qualification is only part of the story. We support all our trainees with our own internal training programme (we call it ‘Skills for Business’), not just to the point you qualify, but beyond and into management. Mazars Skills for Business supports you to develop a breadth of skills: technical, client handling, business development and leadership skills. We believe that investing in our people is fundamental to the success of our business in the long term.

Academic Requirements
We look for candidates who can demonstrate a strong academic track record. Depending on whether you are a school leaver or graduate applicant, you’ll need, or be on track to achieve at least 280 UCAS points and you will have achieved, or be on course to achieve, at least a 2.1 in your degree, although the subject of your degree is not important. We also look for Grade B or above in GCSE English Language and Maths.

If you do not meet all of these academic requirements you can still apply. We look at every single application form before we make a decision, not just the academics. However, if you have not met our academic requirements please explain why on your application form.

Application Timetable
We do not have a closing date for this vacancy, so you can apply all year round. However, to avoid missing the boat we would advise that you apply  as early as you can.
