L'Oreal - Application Process
Hi
Has anyone been through the L'Oreal process? I've applied to them and hope to hear back soon. What sort of things can you expect?
Hi Essebella,
My name's Ben and I work on the recruitment team at L'Oreal. I hope you've heard back but if not please don't worry, we've had an unprecendented amount of applications this year and as we make sure we screen each one individually it can take some time to work through them.
Which scheme did you apply for?
Best,
Ben.
Hi Ben and Redsuperted
I have heard back from L'Oreal for marketing and unfortunately I was unsuccessful. I know that you can't get individual feedback but I'd like to know how to improve my application as I'd like to apply in the future. Is there any advice you can give?
Hello,
With so many graduates applying to our managmenet training scheme it's important to have strong examples of extra curricular activity, positions of leadership, teamworking skills and if possible relevant work experience or internships. If you work on these and re-apply you'll stand a better chance of getting through to interview. We have intakes in January, June and September and no application deadlines so there's always time!
Good luck!
Ben.
Hi bhayward, I would like your view as I am thinking of applying to the L'Oreal management training programme. I have 280 UCAS points, 2:2 in my BSc adn a 2:1 in my MSc. I don't meet the requirements for UCAS or my undergraduate. Will I get rejected???
Hi,
I applied for Sales at L'Oreal at the start of December and have not heard anything back. Do L'Oreal reply to every application or should I assume that I have been unsuccessful?
Thanks
Gemma
Hello Rajsiva & Gemma,
I will answer your questions in order if that's ok.
Rajsiva, we do have minimum requirements of a 2.1 and 300 UCAS points for our Management Training Scheme. These requirements are quite strictly enforced in order to make the process fair for all applicants. Unfortunately on this occasion it appears that your undergraduate result and UCAS points would make L'Oreal's Management Training Scheme unsuitable for you.
Gemma, you will always hear back from L'Oreal, whatever the decision, although it may sometimes take a little while. We received over 11,200 applications last year for our Management Training Scheme and internships and we like to make sure we look at each one properly so apologies that you have not heard anything yet. If you Facebook me with your full name or post it here I'll chase up your application, you'll find me in the L'Oreal network.
If you have any more questions do let me know,
Ben.
Hi Ben,
I recently applied for the Marketing Grad Scheme and am yet to hear anything. I am not expecting a response imminently due to the level of applications. Is there an average response time? e.g. x weeks? How does the application process work if the initial application is accepted?
Thanks,
Alex
Hi Ben,
I am currently through to the online numerical test stage of a l'oreal marketing internship application. I was wondering if you could give me any advice for the telephone interview?
Thanks,
Lindsay
Hello Ben,
Last Friday I applied for the HR internship starting this January (it said as soon as possible), however on my university's website there is a deadline (Feb 13th I think). Could you tell me whether I should expect to hear back from L'Oreal after that date or not? Do you recruit on a first-come-first-served basis?
Thanks a lot,
Zoe
Hi Ben,
Sorry, this is probably extremely frustrating, I bet you get asked these questions so much, but I am at the same stage as Lindsay and would really appreciate any advice you have on excelling within the one-to-one interview next stage. Really really REAAALLLYY want this job and so any advice you could give would be fantastic.
Thanks very much,
Caroline
Hi Ben,
I applied for the L'Oréal Management Training Scheme - Commercial on the 14th of December and I still not heard back regarding the outcome of my application. Please can you advise?
Thank you very much
Hi,
I applied to the L'Oréal Marketing Internship in January and still havn't heard anything. I just wondered if anyone has heard anything about their application or know when we will be likely to hear??
Thanks,
Fran
Hi,
Has anyone been/is going to assessment centre at L'Oreal?
I've just been invited to attend AC on the 25th. very excited but nervous coz it's my first AC ever. So I would really appreciate if someone cud share their experience, what kind of exercises are involved.
As for those who are still waiting for reply, my advice is be patient. I applied back in November, beginning of December and havent heard back untill Feb. Online tests are quite simple (you can practice on Kenexa) and the first one-on-one interview was very informal, not even competency based. The interviewer was extremely friendly and just went thru my CV and experiences. I guess its the next steps that are gonna get more difficult ...
Gud luck to everyone! Pls share yr experiences and thoughts on the application process at L'Oreal.
Some advice if you are applying for marketing:
- be yourself
- show that you can lead, but listen
- be prepared to take initiative if left without guidance
- show you know the most recent trends
- think about the visuals you like, ads you like, packaging you like and why
- visit as many different stores as you can: Boots, Tesco, JS to see the invironment the products are being sold
- look through the brand portfolio and be prepared to be given a task on a smaller, perhaps less well known brand, e.g. perfumes
Good luck!
Hi Marushaa,
Thanks for your advice, its very useful.
It seems like a lot to cover for the AC. I hear its quite an intense day but suppose to be very exciting as well. Did you find it quite difficult? When are you going to the final interview (I assumed you passed it since you sound quite knowlegable)? Gud luck with the next stage.
Hi ben,
I applied for a PR summer internship in January and have not yet heard. As it is nearly April I am starting to accept that I may just never receive a response from L'oreal but obviously as I have not yet been rejected I am still hopeful. I was wondering if you knew when successful candidates would hear by?
Thanks,
Jennie
p.s any one else applied for a summer internship and just not heard anything back from L'oreal!?
Hi fran and favour001 i see you have both applied for summer intenrships - have either of you had any response yet?
Jen
Hi Jen,
As of yet no response! Have you applied for the internship too? Have you heard anything?
Fran
I applied for a summer PR internship on january 16th - but have heard nothing so far!!! My friend applied for the marketing graduate scheme and heard back about 3/4 weeks ago (he was rejected).
I'm running out of hope but at the same time as I haven't yet been rejected I'm still hoping. Very frustrating!
Jen
Yeah I applied for the PR internship too around the same time but still nothing! I guess we will just have to wait and see! I will let you know if I hear anything.
Fran
Just got offered a weeks work experience at a PR firm for a week in August. Have no idea whether to just assume we're never going to hear from l'oreal and accept it..or wait?
How can they not have replied by April (almost) when the internship starts in June...
I too have an alternative experience arranged for summer as I couldn't afford to leave trying to get a placement in PR. But L'Oreal would be such an amazing company to get an internship with! It's simply a matter of if they get back to us! But in my opinion, I would take the week experience, at least then you have something to fall back on and you won't be panicing when it gets to summer and you are trying to arrange a placement. My thoughts anyway!
Hi, as i secured 2.2 can ai apply for a the graduate management training but also I have experience which is relevant.
Cheers
It says in the thread above that the minimum is strictly a 2.1. I still haven't heard back and I applied at the start of December!! I have already secured a graduate job but I would still be interested in the L'Oreal scheme. Its so frustrating!!
hmm, so did you get any information in regards to the assessment centre process? I was invited to attend AC on the 22th. I'm not quite sure what to expect though. Is it an individual interview/ group interview? or just simply an assessment of your qualifications?
Hi Ben,
I have applied for the January 2011 intake for the management trainee programme and have successfully completed the numerical test. I have not been contacted regarding an interview date and am really worried! Could you tell me why its taking so long?
Aliya
they clearly haven't replied to loads of us. i'd have been much happier to have just received a rejection letter as opposed to hearing nothing for nearly four months.
Hi tulitimishka, just a very quick silly question. At the initial stage of your application, was your resume very detailed specifying different examples to each of your skills? or just a brief history of education, work experiences (some responsibilities) and skills?
Hi
I was wondering if anyone could help
I am wanting to apply for the loreal scheme, i have been getting on graduate schemes but my maths isnt up to scratch yet for the online tests yet and i need to practice more first.
I was just wondering if anyone knows what tests are on the loreal website?
Is it numerical reasoning with statistics? or something else as well?
any help would be greatly appreciated
Good luck everyone x
I recently came back from an assessment centre at L'Oreal for the marketing placement. It was less intense than several other assessment centres. We were given individual interviews and then a group task which involved arguing your point and trying to get your group to agree with you. We were then told that we would have lunch and be called back for feed back in an hour. We were forced to wait for three hours. We were then individually taken into rooms and told if we had got through to the final stage or not and given critical feedback.
I managed to get through and was taken to a room with a computer to research the role I was being interviewed for. I was given fifteen minutes and then interviewed. I didn't really understand what the job role was that I was being interviewed for and was given little guidance. The interview was hostile and the questions were extremely difficult like 'Think of a slogan on the spot for a new hair care product we might design'. My interviewer left the room and offered no feedback. I was then forced to wait for 45 minutes alone in my interview room and then told to leave the building with the promise of a phone call the next day and feedback. I was not called back. I phoned the company every day for a week and sent several e-mails. I was finally phoned back a week later and was told that I had not got the job. I was extremely frustrated. I then e-mailed and phoned the company to ask if I could be considered for a different role within marketing as I did not feel that the role they interviewed me for was right for me. I was finally e-mailed back two weeks later and once again promised a phone call. That was two months ago, I am yet to hear anything and have accepted a different placement since then.
Overall, disappointing.
Hello, I had initial contact with L'Oreal HR in June 2010 with a phone interview about 3 weeks later. Then I met with someone in the field in July but haven't heard anything one way or the other since. I have sent multiple emails to 3 different people, all at different levels, with no response. I guess I should move on, but I'm wondering if this is typical at L'Oreal? I would have at least expected a rejection letter or a "sit tight" email from someone! I was recommended for the position I applied for. Thanks!
Yes from what I hear this is very typical of L'Oreal. Apparently their recruitment team is total mess. However, it is a good graduate scheme so I would persist if I were you. Try calling their recruitment team rather than emailing.
I just finished reading the whole thread. from what i could understand it seems that it takes a while for them to get back to you. i just applied for their marketing internships within the Luxury Product Divison. I guess i have to wait for a long time to get a response then. Btw, anyone applied for their managment scheme recenlty?
Has anyone heard back from L'Oreal? Their recruitment team is an absolute joke. Submitted my application 3 months ago and haven't heard anything despite sending at least two emails. I understand that they have a high volume of applications, but this is just ridiculous. Rant over.
I am also still waiting. However, I am also still waiting to hear back from several others too. I'm not too confident about being accepted tbh...
I got rejected from the luxury merchandising internship on the 28/1, no got much faith in L'Oreal, they were supposed to do a presentation at my uni but never showed up.
My application for the marketing position hasnt been rejected yet.
Hmm my marketing application hasnt been rejected
then again, a girl on my course applied 3 days before the deadline and has already been to the assessment centre! =[
I sent my marketing application back in November and STILL haven't received any word concerning its outcome, despite sending the GR team several emails. I just sent one final one withdrawing my application and asking them why they have so much trouble responding to applicant enquiries. It's ridiculous really.
Hi,
I have had similar experiences as above but through persistance I finally got somewhere.
I have been asked to do a phone interview with a view to take an assessment day. Its all scheduled very soon so would really appreciate any feedback on what the assessment days are like. I have applied for the commercial function.
I promise to write on here how everything went and give some info on the process when I am done- just hoping somone will do the same for me now!!
Hi everyone,
Do you know when we can start applying for the January 2012 intake?
And when would be the assessment day ?
Thank you !!
Hi
I'm going to the assessment day on Friday
Anyone else going or know what to prepare for it
L'oreal hasnt sent me the details even though its this very Friday but told me on the phone that I have passed today!
Someone posted that recently:

Hi, I just been contacted by L'oreal recruitment team in Paris, and have been invited to a 2-day L'Oreal event in Paris.
I played the Reveal game and also had a phone interview.
I don't know what this event is all about, if it is a recruitment step or just a trip to the company headquarters.
Does anybody know what this might be about?
Thanks!
I've heard nothing from them. I logged into my job account today to discover that there is no longer anything in my account that even showed that I applied for the scheme.
It's like it never happened o.O
Hi,
I have a final round interview coming up shortly for an internship in marketing at L'Oreal, just wondering if anyone could offer any guidance with regard to what this stage might entail and any prep that might be useful (I have already researched the L'Oreal brands, products and appropriate market information).
Thanks

Have you heard back yet Essebella?
