Graduate Training Schemes in Retail

What's anyones opinion on doing a graduate scheme in retail for someone like Argos or even a large branded supermarket chain?

I read a few of the pages on Argos Careers and they promote a feel of progression in a long-term career, but has anyone here considered it as a long-term career choice, or even better, has anyone been there and done it!?
