anybody had an interview at the FOS? Need to do some research, any tips? and competency based interview any tips on this too?
does anyone have any information concerning the adjudicator role. It's urgent. Thanks
well i've done the case study and other tests now. I'm waiting to c if I get an interview. If your going through an agency this is what to expect:
you need to get 60% plus to pass the initial shl verbal test (30 q's in 19 mins).
if you get through this you will need to do a case study. The study i did was a complaint writing exercise that was an acknowlegdement letter doubling up as a final response. you have to write a professional buisiness letter on behalf of a bank (which you are fictionally employed by), in response to a customers complaint. this link really helps you prepare http://www.tcfinfo.co.uk/site/142/Written_complaint_acknowledgment_letter.aspx
You will also need to do another shorter version of the shl test to verify ur results (18 q's in 11 mins).
After this, pray for an interview.
so I have to write a letter on behalf of the bank responding to a customer complaint ?. Thats really odd, i thought if anything we would have to write a letter acting as an adjudicator ! Can I be cheeky and beg for more information about what the complaint was about ?
I guess they just want to know if you get the subtelty of complaint writing i.e never apologise for the service/product itself but rather for the customers feeling that way.
the complaints were
1) lady had to queue for ages and got pissed off cos only 2 cashiers about and she saw staff in the background chatting to each other.
2)more pissed off to learn that her savings a/c was cut to 0.5% interest.
3) even more pissed off that she was offered a 4% interest a/c but that was only on the internet she wants the same for a branch a/c.
4)finally, she pissed off that she read in the paper that bankers getting big bonuses.
Yeah! am also there for this role..waiting for the whole process to start! Anyone who has done the writing exercise ? it would be great if you can share the scenario and some tips!
thanks
Phillip, have you had your written test yet ? Mine is next week , so i'll let you know as soon as I have had it
Hi AD, did u get the FOS interview call yet or is it over? r u goin thru any agency ? Good luck and waiting to hear from you how the interview was!!!
hi priya..had my written test...dont worry about that...jus be aware of the format and you can make solutions hypothetically as to what the question demands...i was really tensed and was completely blank out after the written test! so only one advice just be calm and do it well...good luck!
please read my link...u will know my situation AD and Priya
I have the interview on Monday. Would greatly appreciate any info on it!
hi dave do u have the interview for the role or u doing the tests? did u do the test at all?
Hey there, I went for the tests last year and the pass rate for verbal reasoning test was 50%+ although I scraped a pass and did the bank letter ok I chose another job offer instead .. I'm not happy in the job I'm in at the moment and asked for another chance, now its 70%+!
How did you guys all do? How did the interviews go? Lastly, did you all do much revision? I'm doing a test during lunchbreak, then another after work each day... a week to go till the test...
Hope this thread hasnt died yet, please post!
Many thanks.
Flo
Hi Flo,
I sat the verbal reasoning test a few days ago and am having the case study test nx week..what stage are u at? after reading the comments on this page and the comments phillip made i'm a bit worried!! is anyone still posting on this thread?
Thanks.
Hi
How long did any of you have to wait before you heard if you got an interview? I have done the case studies and passed the verbal reasoning tests but I still have not been told if I have an interview.
Can anyone shed any light?
Thanks
Hi abudar
I have an interview soon, did you get through to have an interview at all? If so what was it like
Cheers man
Hi dkwakye
I still have not heard yet. I am told I will know early part of next week whether I have an interview or not.
When is your interview?
Many thanks
Abi
Thank you all for your comments. Did my verbal reasoning and i have my case study on monday. Not sure if the thread died but just wanted to say a huge thanks!
Hi Shana, I have my case study coming up, I don't suppose you have any tips or details?
Hi everyone
I hope someone who has done the case study and the interview can help me.
I am due to do my case study soon and the interview. I am really not good at interviews- does anyone know what kind of questions they would be asking me???
I endorse what the poster above said re not going through by agency. I was royally mucked about by ATC Recruitment for this adjudicator role. Not pleasant when people's time & wellbeing are being used as cannon fodder. Stay well clear.
I just sat the verbal reasoning tests and have been told that I have to be in 30th percentile to go onto the next stage! What does that mean? After that I have to go to the ATC office to do a case study - can anyone tell me what this involves? Wish you could just do the case study from home!
Hi there, if anybody is reading I would just like to confirm one thing. The competency questions in the interview all relate to the competencies that are listed on the advert right? ie,
customer focus and quality - level 2
communication - level 2
planning and organising - level 2
building relationships - level 2
adaptability - level 1
problem solving and decision making - level 1
results focus - level 1
professional expertise - level 1
If not this would be quite unfair methinks
Shan, what happened with the ATC? I'm due to go to their offices next week and I'm curious as to how it went.
Hi Keplaz, whens your assessment day. Mines on the 17th at 3pm. my mate had this job 2 years ago told me its a complaint letter and your write on behalf of the bank. really hope i do well and really would love this job. have you had your appointment?
Hi peeps, I've done the verbal reasoning test and now I've been given an application form after which an interview may follow. So I guess they have done away with the written assessment?
Hi
I have an assessment day coming up for this position. Can anyone please elaborate on the case study exercise and clarify whether it's actually timed or not. Would we be expected to actually adjudicate on a complaint? or does it have to be a brief letter?
Your help will be much appreciated as I'm really nervous!
Hi I have just had the telephonic interview I think it went well this is like the 3rd hoop they have made me jump through. Next is a case assessment getting sent to me. Does anyone know what this is? and what it entails?
Any advise would be much appreciated.
Thanks :)

no but i'd like to know more on this too! been shortlisted and waiting for the whole process to begin. So far, i've just been through their website which does give a lot of information on their setup, including memorandas on their relationship with other relevant bodies.
