Anybody had an NHS interview?

Anybody applied NHS graduate scheme?
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

rocketfire

I have applied and have an interview coming shortly, has anyone had theirs yet?

Redsuperted

Is this for the management scheme?

Do you know what structure the interview & assessment process takes... online application, then what after that?

rocketfire

Yep for the management scheme.
It was an online application and the next stage is a competency based interview for half an hour with a panel of 2 current employees, followed by assessment centre if your successful.

Yuping

rocketfire, when is your interview? tell us a bit more about it please after you had your interview! I am also applying for the finance scheme.

Does anyone know if you are allowed to do the motivational and situational judgement test with some time off before the numerical and verbal. So can i come back(log out and relogin) to the numerical and verbal tests later after i have done the motivational and situational judgement?

paopaowitty

yes, i think you can take one or some of the tests and come back later to complete all of them.

Anybody applying for finance 2010? :)

steve88

yes i am, sounds like a pretty good scheme.

I'm filling in the application form at the moment. one of the questions asks 'Please state only your 6 most relevant 'A' Level qualifications or equivalent'
I have 3 A levels - how do i fill in the remaining 3 spaces?
thanks

TINY

Just add ur GCSE grades, preferably maths and english or any AS level u may have

hazelground

Hi

I am also considering the NHS graduate scheme...anyone can explain what is the motivational and situational judgement test?

also are the numerical and verbal SHL?

TINY

the Numerical and Verbal are Kenexa, Motivational and situational are just what u are like at a work place (your personality) and what u will do when u are faced with a certain problem or situation

redunderthebed

have just done the numerical - damn that was hard!!! doubt i have passed - the questions would be ok if you had more than one minute!! Just the verbal to go! anyone else in the same boat as me?!

uybert

I completed them all last week and still waiting...

It is not the numerical and verbal tests I am concerned about. It is them situational judgement and motivational assessments could let us all down. Because, I think the evaluation of the latter is subjective and we do not know what sort of people they are after.

chrisgr

I did the test too. the numerical and verbal were OK but the other two were a bit weird. Because there are no right or wrong answers that means that, as uybert said, the evaluation will be subjective... anyways, i'm still waiting them to contact me...

i think i messed the numerical up so not that hopeful - did anyone else find it tough?

TINY

did anyone get that message after the test where it says we will contact you in July,,,what is that all about???

redunderthebed

yea not hopeful though!

LilShorty

Feels very slow... not sure the scheme is worth it if theres cuts in NHS next year, feels like theyre waiting for an election.:S

TINY

ye they have contacted me to book an interview. anyone has good tips

DJHL

I have an interview too, I picked one of the first slots, can't seem to find much information on the questions they ask, I'm starting to wish I'd booked a later slot so I could get some feedback from others.

DJHL

From what I have found out from some other sites, the interviews last year were fairly relaxed, they just asked competency questions based on the competencies set out in the email. And as expected they asked why you want to work for the NHS, the stats I picked up from last year were;

12000 applied
1000 interviewed
500 assessment centre
220-250 got jobs

Although with the budget cuts there are likely to be less jobs this year, those figures are still pretty encouraging. If you get through the first interview there is probably about a 1 in 4 chance that you will get a job.

fradoo

when did u receive yo invitation guys

wongus

Got mine on the 7th, was tempted to goto the City of Manchester Statidum, i was hoping there would be Old Trafford, settled for St Andrews. Cool locations right?

lion

Hi guys I'm currently on the NHS GMTS 2009 in take and its an awesome Scheme to join. Good luck to you all. I am helping assist at this year GMTS interviews in London this month if any of you are headed there.

TINY

hello lion, do u have any tips u can give us for the interview. thanks, i have an interview in london but for finance scheme.

maverick

Hi,

I have got an interview coming up next week, I applied to HR GMTS, can you tell me how the interview would be like? the questions etc? and what sort of materials should i read?.. I am really stressed and dnt know what to do as this is gonna be my first ever interview.

thanks

TINY

has any body had their interview yet please what can u share? thanks

lion

Hi Guys,
My best advice for the interviews is to reflect and think of examples, experiences at work or Uni where you have demonstrated good management skills. Think of examples that relate to the NHS GMTS core competencies (as found on the website) such as analytical thinking, Communication, Leadership, Numerical ability etc......

Oh best to read up on the Darzi report and Government funding for the NHS as we approach the new financial year. Infact get up to speed on recent NHS news. Big help!

Good luck.

Jack

Hey everyone how did your interviews go in the end ?

do you feel confident ? what kind of questions did they ask if you don't mind saying ?

fradoo

the interview was good but rigorous. As for the questions its all about what was in the email they sent prior to the interview.

wongus

hey fradoo, do you mind going through a few details of the interview? i.e. was it purely compentecy based with questions on the NHS, why the programme of choice etc? Did you come across anything in regards to current issues of the NHS?

wongus

Thanks Lion!

fradoo

The interview was mainly competence based. Im not sure about the current issues because since i don't know what others experienced. But in my case i wasnt asked about any issues or anything to do with a particular programme.

When is your interview. Don't worry its not difficult. Just be yourself.

wongus

thanks fradoo! i just wanted a feel of your experience, thanks for sharing. :D

Jack

Hi fradoo

Hopefully I will be in your boots next year. I am still in 2nd year just planning now which grad schemes I will apply to next year.

Can you tell me what they outlined in the email please ?

and good luck hopefully you will make it to the AC

fradoo

@Jack

Senior NHS Managers trained in Graduate Recruitment Assessment will conduct the interview. Questions asked will be competency based and will test the following:
• Leading and taking responsibility
• Communicating and influencing
• Driving for, and achieving, results.
At the interview, you will have the opportunity to meet current trainees and NHS Service Managers with first hand experience of the scheme.

Jack

Thank you fradoo !

wongus

I just had mine today, what a friendly organisation! everyone is so friendly and approachable, very refreshing for such a large organisation. But anyway the interview was purely competency based, with some motivational questions on why the NHS and the why the particular scheme.

Hi everyone,
I've got an inteview for the NHS Scotland GTMS on wednesday... it's a competency based interview, same as the english scheme, can anyone give me any advice?
Thanks!
Also, I don't suppose any of you know the rations for applicants: interviews: AC places: final offers for jobs for the scottish scheme? I can't seem to find any info on this?
And those of you that have had interviews, did they expect you to ask questions at the end, and if so, what sort of things did you ask?

Thanks guys!

Congrats to those who have already passed!
