Hi, is there anyone that could help me, i have got a verbal reasoning assessment for TFL on thursday and would be greatful if anyone who has taken the test could provide me with some general information.

wadeei

Sorry, don't have any info for you, but i've got my assessment on Thursday as well.

As far as i know it's just verbal reasoning so the practice test on this site should help, as well as any others you can find. Other than that i don't think there is much more you can do to prepare.

Shilpa Patel

thanks! and goodluck

bhumikapatel

what time is ur test? morning or afternoon?

wadeei

Mine is at 11:00...

Shilpa Patel

Mine is also at 11.00, what time is yours?

bhumikapatel

min is at 10.00 on thur

may see u then

Shilpa Patel

Do u guys know whether the verbal reasoning test also includes a numerical test?

bhumikapatel

anyone have theirs at 9?

bhumikapatel

i dont know if it includes a numerical test. i hope not

wadeei

How many training contracts are tfl offering in total?

Redsuperted

Read this thread on the TfL assessment centre - TfL Graduate Scheme Application Process and see the wiki at Transport for London (TfL) Interview Questions.

To my knowledge, the test does include a numerical reasoning section.

Please mention WikiJob to your assessors (especially if they ask you how you prepared!) tomorrow, or on the day of your assessment centre.

Good luck!

Trish_P

hey guys i've got my tfl test on wednesday. apparently it only lasts 20 mins so it's prob similar to this one. the reason we have hour slots is to fill in other random forms :-S. i'll let u know how it goes!

wadeei

Thanks Trish!

Trish_P

also regarding the reference agreement from, do we have to take that to the assessment centre or is that only needed if we get through to the 2nd stage??

wadeei

I think it's best to just fill it in and take it with you on the day.

Trish_P

oh ok thanks!!

bhumikapatel

what are the reference agreement forms? i didnt get anything like that. should i be worried?

wadeei

It should be attached to the email they sent you to confirm your assessment centre place.

bhumikapatel

thanks i found it, nearly overlooked that. so have u been practising these tests?

wadeei

I've done the wiki one, but thats about it. Practice does make perfect, but when it comes to verbal reasoning i think you just have to concentrate and read questions properly.

bhumikapatel

yea i think ur right, well if i come across anything new then il keep u posted. do u know if we have to wear a suit to this assessment? and whether we going to be interviewed by someone?

bhumikapatel

yea i think ur right, well if i come across anything new then il keep u posted. do u know if we have to wear a suit to this assessment? and whether we going to be interviewed by someone?

Shilpa Patel

sorry i didnt get back in contact with u guys yday.

Trish - i hope ur test went well.

I rang TFL and we only have to do a verbal reasoning test and NOT a numerical test.

Goodluck guys and if i come across anythin new i will surely let u know.

wadeei

I don't think there is an interview, and looking smart would leave a good impression.

bhumikapatel

thanks for that Shilpa and Wadeei
good luck to u guys if i dont chat to before then

Redsuperted

You should definitely dress smart. I'd say suit is essential! - see, general interview advice.

Trish_P

hey guys people have told me that because it's an assessment centre for only an hour, it's not essential to wear a suit. so i'm going to wear trousers and a shirt with maybe a jumper - as long as it's smart!

Redsuperted

Is it worth the risk? Call up HR and have a chat with them. I'm sure they wouldn't mind advising on this.

Reg

At my first TfL assesment I wore a leather jacket with shirt and trousers, which went down fine with them. The second time I wore a suit. Most of the interviewers will be wearing business casual.

Redsuperted

Fair enough. I stand corrected!

bhumikapatel

hi reg

I was wondering whether you can shed some light on what to expect at this test. Some people have said that it only lasts 20 mins and there will be mulitple choice questions?

how did u find it? and did u manage to secure a training contract with TFL?

thanks

Trish_P

Hey guys

Had the test today..it lasts 25 minutes and contains 48 questions which goes by quickly. They test four ppl at a time. The guy also gave us an example question to do just to make sure we understood how to do it.

Also, two ppl wore a suit and two of us just wore smart casual clothes - so the choice is yours!

bhumikapatel

thanks for that trish, hope the test went well for u

can u tell me whether the questions were similar to the ones on this website or if they were different. are the options, true, false or cannot say.

thanks

Trish_P

hey bhumika ye the qu's were pretty similar with the same three options..but to tell u the truth i found them harder than the ones on here. but it's nothing to worry about and if you've practiced some tests online then you'l be fine

bhumikapatel

oh thanks for that Trish. sowi to keep bothering you, but where can i find online practise tests other than on this site? thanks

Trish_P

lol don't worry it's cool.

try these tests out:
www.kent.ac.uk/careers/tests/verbaltest.htm
http://www.assessmentday.co.uk/aptitudetests_verbal.htm

bhumikapatel

thanks for ur help trish. i will let u know how i get on.

Trish_P

coolio well good luck and don't worry the there guy was really nice!

Trish_P

also i don't know if u go to garba or not but i didn't go yesterday because i was stressin bout the test however with hindsight i could have gone lol. it's the last one tonight!!

May1

what is garba?

bhumikapatel

hey i havent gone garba this year at all but was thinking of going today to the one in tooting but not sure. where u going?

garba is a nine day hindu festival by the way may

Trish can u tell me if they take in the reference agreement form at the assessement?

thanks

Trish_P

hey i went to a garba in isleworth ends. hope u had fun if u went!

anyway they didn't take in the reference agreement forms nor did they ask to see the passport/NI card (take these two to be on the safe side though).

anyway good luck to everyone who has the test 2mrw!

sham

hiya guys! just found this forum! I did the test today! 48q's in 25 mins is that possible? anyways i guessed some, i asked the invigilator how it would be marked, he replied results would be "standardised". Somebody else told me that there was negative marking also, is this possible? We were not told this in the beginning, does anyone out there have any ideas about this? thanx

bhumikapatel

wha time was ur test, i had mine at 10am. i was told that there is no negative marking and results will be sent out tomorrow or monday. and theres only 2 trainee positions. hope that helps

sham

thanx for that, did mine at 1. did you manage to finish all of the test, only 2 positions, there were eight other people who were also sitting the exam. if iam rights thats 8 per hour, started at 8 finished at 5 x 2 days therefore 144 initial canditates! only 2 positions! u never know!

wadeei

Anybody had any news yet?

bhumikapatel

nope, i called them n the woman told me that they may let us know by today or tomorrow. how u think u did?
