Vodafone Graduate Scheme 2011
I thought to start a page for those who have applied for Vodafone Graduate Scheme 2011.
Please introduce yourself and a brief on your background and area of interest in Vodafone.
I have just got through initial online test and received an email with confirmation of progress to next stage and have to wait for another email with details on that. (BTW, from registeration to completing application and thn test took max 5 hours in total, so surely this is going v fast.)
I've professional background of retail and administration/project management and academically engineer with Masters degree.
Looking forward to hearing from you all.
Hi ,
I also applied and I have now got the telephone interview on thursday, could you please tell me what sort of questions they would ask?
Thanks
Hi all,
I have applied for the Grad Program and have a phone interview tomorrow afternoon. Not sure what to expect, but I guess it'll be standard competency based interview questions.
As for my background, I am a law graduate currently studying for the New York Bar exam whilst working in Vodafone part-time.
As for the Experience Days - I have no idea what to expect. From what I've heard, it is a face to face interview as well as some challenges which takes a good chunk of a day to complete.
Good luck to everyone.
Manchester & NI, though I only started in September. It is a good place to work at, though (well - not at the minute considering the heaters aren't strong enough to cope with the bad weather!)
I take it once we get a phone interview, it means that we've passed the logic test and personality test, right? While researching online, I've seen people saying they got a phone interview which went well, but were later declined due to their test results. I'm hoping that is all behind me at this point.
Ah I'm M1 north. Yeah I think they must have done it differently last year as I fail to see the logic in taking time out to interview someone who's already failed. So I believe I'm right in assuming that your through that stretch of the woods at least. I've been working at Voda for the last 18 months so I'm hoping it stands me on good stead. Which three business areas you applying for?
I applied too, had telephone interview on 20th of December... was told 2 days for them to get back to me, i am yet to hear anything though?
Hello, i just got email to answer some 10 odd scenarios ? do anyone have idea ? any advice ? i have to complte it in next 3 days any advice is appreciated. thanks
How about.. Figure it yourself? Seriously, if you're struggling with the initial forms then it may be worth just ditching it. And if you really think a group of people who did it off their own backs are going to help you then it might be time to re-think :)
Erm,, 17th, heard back same day about 2mins after the guy hung up.
Hmmm... Thinking it might be bad news that I haven't heard back then... Mine was 20th
Hmm give 'em a bell and see what they say. Worst is that they say what you just have
Ill leave it till Tuesday because i suppose it has been Christmas and bank holidays etc.
had my first three rounds.. now through to SHL.. which am pretty scared off. what will be the questions like? easy or is it tougher?
I didnot ask for answers, I just ask for approach you guys followed
Hi
I finished the SJT Test and got a mail that i was not considered for the next round. I thought i did it reasonable well. Can someone give me an idea as in what the approach should have been for clearing ?
To be honest guys... all the online bits are pretty simple... very similar to BBC application if anyone has done them before... they arent the hardest ive had but not the easiest either.. Good luck anyway
Hello everyone, I would like to share my experience of vodafone in wiki, as it has helped me lot for many interviews. I have applied for Vodafone graduate programme 2011 and i'm thru to d final experience day (which will be on 2nd or 3rd week of march 2011). Initially, the application and online tests were pretty normal. As for as d telephonic interview is concerned, i would say tis was d easiest one. It begun wit d confirmation of al d information which v hv provided in our application starting from univ, mark details, visa status, flexible to relocate and abt d 1st 2 months working in the retail outlets. They will ask for ur choice of department where you wanna work. My choice was 1) technology 2) Finance 3) strategy. Then comes d 2 Competencies: Team work & challenging time i had. Both of them were very easy for me. The lady was listening to me very carefully and she also probed me to some extent. Interview went for around 20-30 mins. After couple of days i got an email stating that i have been thru to d experience day.
Cheers,
Think you may need to re-read your email as I was under the impression that everyone passing the telephone interview gets an email saying that they passed and that they are being CONSIDERED for an experience day but they tell you for definite mid Feb?
Hi New
Could you tell me an approach for the SJT ? I was really disappointed in not clearing that .
Thanks
@turtle man: 21st of december @eds1: I gave them a cal as soon as i got my mail n they confirmed that i'm thru to d experience day
I must not be through then i had mine on the 20th and am yet to hear back
@ralph54
There were no competencies wen i checked in d website....so i didn't follow any proper approach... even i was also trying to find the approach in many forums....but i couldn't able to find one...
@eds1
Wat u said was correct. Yesterday i got a cal from vodafone to know abt where did i hear abt tis vacancy.... i asked once again abt d experience day n the lady said dey will compare my overall score wit d rest of d applicants n let me know whether i'm thru to d experience day or not... Keepin my fingers crossed :-(
Heliopolis you too got a call? I got one too.....how many people do you think will be around for the experience day? And what scores do you say will be compared..Is it the logical reasoning? SJT? Lots of unknown quantities..

@eds 1
Hi, good to hear you have been successful all through the process to this point. Well I just tot I should add, you have good knowledge about Vodafone and it would be really helpful if you could share some experience of the telephone interview with the group. I would not say you should share information on the SJT as every individual would react differently. Also for those preparing for the online tests, its your basic SHL. I wish you success at the experience day as well.
cheers
had my SJT yesterday at 1 passed it scoring 32 over 40 got email 8 this morning saying am through now have to wait for SHL which must be completed within three days time :) finger cross please for those that passed SHL any tips or what to expect? thanks isit true 150 makes it to ED and 50 is selected for the job? right? cuz that is 12,500,000 they haveto pay in a year excluding 500pounds one offday for joinging making it total 12,525,000? way to go vadafone got i got make it to ED
I find it not fair to share questions from telephone interview as this is not rocket science and this is part of selection process so we shouldnt give anyone questions if we have cleared this stage without any help .... after all we all want same job and there are just 50 places and just 150 people will be invited so the more people on the list the less chances you have that you will be invited - i heard last year they had 300 people and they have choosen the best ones...
@123star
Absolutely correct. It would be pretty bad form on my part to give even the slightest advice on the telephone interview to anyone else.
At the end of the day, I went in blind and passed, it could be considered difficult, and you do need to think on your feet but if you're good enough you'll get through. Basically, if your asking for help at this stage, you really do need to ask yourself if you really are cut out for the role..
Jesus, just figure it out on your own and stop asking for, or expecting some kind of guidance or beneficial treatment from others. Remember that we're in direct competition here. Don't expect favours.
The one bit of advice I WILL give is: do the thing yourself. Think about it carefully. If you pass, you pass. If you fail, learn something from it. Try to understand why you failed. There is really no other advice you need to be, or, indeed, should be given. Improve yourself. Don't expect others to help.
P.S. I should point out that any information you would require going into each stage, you will be given by Vodafone in advance. For the phone interview, for example, they explicitly state that it is competency based.
@All
Plz ppl...tis is not d place to fight among us.... Try share d info which u hv...if ur not ready....then jus leave...
@ 123star and eds1
I totally disagree with you!!!
Even though you may share your experience with another individual, it does not mean that they are in a better position than you. They may not utilise the info well enough to make them progress to further stages or even secure a job.
There is no need to put anybody down. The person in question may be asking for assistance as this may be their first time applying for Grad Schemes. I know that I was doing exactly the same when my first telephone interview came around.
Employers choose:
a) People they like; b) People who are smart and possess certain qualities.
Sharing info will not change a personality or not make an individual smarter!
@abeproj7 After the SJT I took a Logical Test. If sucessful they review your application in further detail e.g. app ans, which will determine whether or not you make it through to telephone interview. Watch the videos on their website- very informative!
@DiligentLady
Great one diligent lady!! you really are diligent in your response. I think that 123star and eds1 have a point though, but really I don't think people should come to this forum for help on test questions but probably interviews and AC. Its alright to ask for the test format but not the questions themselves.
I think we shouldn't detract from what this thread was originally for, which is for sharing information about the Vodafone grad acheme and with this I leave yall to prepare for my AC tomorrow. Goodnight all!!
Hey delligentlady... Saw you was asking about asda in the other thread... Did/have you had the reality centre? I've got mine on Friday...
Dean
is incredible vadafone offer 1 ofthe best graduate starting salary and with 50 slots now i can really see why everybody wana cash in n secure their position missed out tesco, asda n sainsburys deadline missing i am eligible to apply when it reopens something summer so all gd but got throught next stage for santander finance and personal banking fast track graduate entry
@ Flush2010
I am also against people asking for specific test questions but it is the way that the others responded. When I see such entries, I ignore them and respond to the sensible ones.
Great news!!! Good Luck with your AC
@Diligentlady
Thanks for the post. Excellently written.
@Flush2010 All the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@All What some of us here fail to understand is just what DiligentLady has explained to us. It is hardly possible to provide detailed information as regards SJT, Online Assessments and the Personality test. However, it is best to advice those asking in a polite and friendly manner. You can share your experience of telephonic interview and ED if you chose to,and this does not mean they will get the position and not you. Yes some of us went in blindly and have been successful.
We all have varying reaction to a situation, but most people are tensed at application. From my observation of the vodafone process, your application is given proper scrutiny when you pass the online assessment. Then you would be told if you will have a telephonic interview.
I wish all those who have crossed to the ED stage success. cheers
@R8 Syder
How did you find out your SJT results?
I've had the telephone interview, just waiting to find out if i've been successful,
Good luck everybody!
@DiligentLady
ok I agree with you what I was saying is that no one should share questions other than that I agree with you we can share our experience.
ok so here is something from me that i can share the roles available for rotations as for me it was not that clear on the webpage - you can find this info in the restaurant section /virtual tour on webpage - When you ask the interviewer they will go through the list - you need to provide 3 choices - more information about areas you will find on webpage in restaurant section- areas available: - Business Development & Wholesale - Communications - Consumer - Technology - Human Resources - Finance - Enterprise - Brand - Fraud Risk & Security - Strategy - Customer Operations - Transformation & On-line
does anyone has any thoughts about video we will need to send after invited for Assessment?
@123 Star
I asked the same question during the telephonic interview...but the lady said they ll lets u know before the ED...N also she confirmed that it is not assessed... d video presentation is for their website purpose...If anyone of our presentation is really interesting n nice they ll put up in d graduate website it seems...
Cheers.
@123star Nice One.
That's what actually creeped me out when they said that we have to put together a video which will form as part of the assessment.
Did they say that we'll find out by 15 Feb? Just hope with all make it through to ED.
i ranged and ask them so the aim is to get as highest as you can in all the stages because that can determine whether you make it to ED or not. so ring and ask them they will tell you your score and advice you to stepup your game.i think they access your application form and logical reasons before they decide to give you telephone interview.
@DiligentLady
This is also my understanding we need to wait until 15 February to find out if we’re invited and at the same time to find out if we need to do the video thing… I was told it doesn’t have to be a Hollywood production <lol> just about 2 minutes presentation on why you want to join VF and if I don’t have a cam coder I can use my phone or anything else that has the rec function – definitely they must be looking for people who have can do attitude
@heliopolis
Not sure if they can put your video on the webpage without you giving them the rights to the video and allowing them to do it ...i'd say they cant do it
@R8 Syder I heard the same they will choose best people from the list of those who will be interviewed @all
info from VF webpage: "Everyone who attends an Experience Day will be asked to put together a short video which will form a small part of your overall assessment – we’ll give you full details of this nearer the time."
In this part of web p. you got every stage of the selection process: http://discoveruk.vodafone.co.uk/how-do-i-apply.php

Hi,
I applied too. Got through all initial stages, had telephone interview which went really well and the guy said I'd hear on tuesday (4 days time) could hear keys typing in the background and just assumed he was writing up the interview. He ended the telephone conversation and 2 minutes later I got an email saying I had passed the interview and was being considered for an experience day.
Apparently they let 300 through the telephone interview, then 150 make it to the experience day in March to be considered for 50 positions.
Results of whether you've got through for the experience day are emailed to you mid February so I guess I'm in the dark until then!
As for my background, I work in mobile retail whilst studying for my degree and they said that was a definite strong point so we shall wait and see.
Good luck!
