Is there any additional info on the company apart from what's available on their website? Anyone applying there? How is it to work there? Does anyone know where the offices for Application Services grad position are located? Thanks!

Wisecrown

Not so much information on the topic, I bet..

I applied before Christmas and got rejected in 2-3 days.

If you are applying, fingers crossed!

I applied to Fujitsu as well, having a telephone interview scheduled in next week.
So far I think I'm only on the third stage, next could be assessment center, interview and interview~

Hello Flying-Bear,

Hope your telephone interview with fujitsu went well. I have been invited for their online assesment (EMG abstract assesment). It will be a great help you can give 1 or 2 examples of the type of questions asked. I dont know how to practice abstract reasoning.
Please help.

SS123456 - we have some info on abstract reasoning and diagrammatic reasoning in the aptitude tests section of the site.

However we have nothing on EMG Abstract Assessment specifically.

Flying-Bear - any info you have on the EMG would be great. We'll also start a wiki and hopefully others will add to that too, and we'll develop a resource explaining the test.

The test was simply an IQ test. Each question contained diagrams with different patterns, and asked you to choose one from the provided 4~5 answers that fits the "?" symbol on the question diagram. Well, you know, just like a normal pattern test of an IQ test.

That's it, no numerical, verbal what so ever. It's the easiest test compared to others in my opinion , so simply if you are smart, then there is no problem to pass this test.

I am not sure if the same test would appear the same, it may depends on which role you applied. But I assumed they all used the same test.
Well, I hope this would help, go complete some IQ pattern test, that would sure help.

SS123456

Flying bear, Thanks a lot . I've done some questions of the IQ pattern type and I am going to take the test now.
If I pass I'll be in touch again.

Thanks,
SS

I've just done the abstract reasoning test for Fujitsu (and am awaiting my results) and I have to say I found it much harder than the diagrammatic reasoning tests which I've done for other companies. I passed those, but not so sure I will this one.
Any way, some information:
They use a third party, ase-solutions, to provide the test, you can therefore do an example in a very similar format to the real test at www.ase-solutions.co.uk along with some other types of test if you like. The actual test I was required to do was the Executive, Management and Graduate (EMG) Abstract Reasoning test.
When you come to do the actual abstract test you use the link provided to you in an e-mail to login to a website that runs the test. Before you do the real test there are two practise sections. The first is 3 questions long, you answer these and the next screen gives you the answer and reason why. The next example section is slightly longer and again you answer the practise questions and the last screen gives you the answers, but this time there are no explanations why these are the correct choices. You then go on to do the real test for which you have 20 mins and I think there were about 20 questions. This might sound like plenty of time, but believe me, it's tough. The actual questions are all diagrammatic and you need to choose the correct picture from a list of 5/6 which fits the gap indicated by a "?". It's well worth practising the ones on the ase-solutions website along with any others you can find, because the ase-solutions questions use many different types of "puzzle" shapes and I found this much harder than the usual type of 6 progressive boxes.
I hope this is some help if you're going to be taking the test!

NuRecruit,

Thanks for your post. I 've taken the test and I have to agree that it was a lot harder than the practice tests I had done. I am hopefully waiting for the result now - I took the test yesterday 29th jan, wondering how long it'll be before I hear anything. I'll let you know when I do hear from them.
Best of luck in the meantime.

Good luck with your results then SS! I took my test on Friday and heard back today (Monday) that I was unsuccessful, though I'm not surprised. I'm not particularly disappointed though after reading FlyingBear's post on another thread about his experience with the next stages of the process.

zidanee

I've applied to Fujitsu on Friday, received an email today saying that they have filled all the positions. What's the point of deadlines then? Such a waist of time..

SS123456

Hi NUrecruit, I just saw my result too. Unsuccessful. Though I didnt do very well i was hoping ....but anyways.
Good luck with your other apps. I have a couple of apps running too. Lets see.

Hi everyone

Passed the test and now looking forward to the telephone interview. Has anyone had their interview yet, I would really appreciate it if some one could post up some questions which were asked.

Thanks

TheOne

Hi Guys,

I have had the telephone interview and been to the assessment center, all i would say about the telephone interview is really get across your personality. Also use different examples for each question, such as uni, past jobs, placements, social activities. The Questions might seem easy but they dont want a one line answer, they want you to explain and expand on each one. Also dont come across to serious, have fun answering the questions. Also learn about fujitsu.

hope that helps and best of luck

I’ve got my telephone interview coming up for the Grad Finance Scheme. Like many i have found no specific examples of work they do within this department apart from assuming the normal accounting procedures that any organisation would do, although having a number of examples of the work that Fujitsu do as an overall company.

If anyone’s got any more advice regarding the telephone interview, and information specifically relating to the finance grad scheme i would appreciate the help.

velvetpigeon

Hello have any of you guys got advice on the assessment centre?

mr.adams

There are usually 6 candidates at Fujitsu assessment centre's and you do 3 tasks on the day - each 1 hour long.

COMPETENCY INTERVIEW
Standard questions about team work, achieving goals and such. They will follow up on the questions so have good examples. You can use more than one if you like. You are unlikely to be asked about the company itself.

PRESENTATION
You can 40 minutes to read some information and plan your presentation. Then you have 10-15 minutes to give it and 5-10 minutes for questions. It's usually a planning exercise so you have to think about the logistics of your decisions and how you have got there.

GROUP EXERCISE
You will review information given and have to make a choice on which course of action to take or which project to undertake. You need reasons from the information you have been given.

You get to speak to graduates too. Key advice would be to stay relaxed. Fujitsu has a very friendly, relaxed environment. They don't try to trick you like some of the big banks and they want to see your personality.

Hey guys, had an assessment centre with Fujitsu recently and didn't get through. Not disappointed because I don't think the company was for me, however thought I'd help other candidates...

The advice above is spot on so I can only add to it. In terms of the competency interview some of the questions seemed very similar so try and think of two examples for each competency. One I remember in particular which I struggled with was, can you think of a time when you had to budget. (could be saved money for a cause, but better to think of a time where you were given a budget for a purpose and stuck to it) Also I didn't get asked anything on the company at any point in the day, but you should still have a good idea of what your getting yourself into.

As for the presentation you have to plan an event, and are given all the materials you need to do so. Make sure you read all the material given, and make an informed decision. You will get asked questions based around how you came to your decision at the end of the presentation. Standard presentation advice is introduce yourself at the beginning, and say thank you and ask the interviewer if they have any questions at the end. Also ensure your presentation doesn't go over time. (they should have a clock in the room, they did for me)

In the group exercise they throw a whole bunch of information at you and you are required to decode it as a team to decide between the course of action you should take as a company to move forward. Speak up and make your voice be heard, BUT allow others to speak also. There's nothing worse in a group exercise than people who will not shut up. Ensure you understand the problem at hand, even if you have to get the group to explain it to you, otherwise you've practically failed already!

This is based on the exercises we were given, there's always a chance you will get something different. Also I think its unfair on the company if we share specific details on what the exercises involve, and it will also make it impossible to distinguish between the excellent candidates and the good candidates. 99% of candidates use this forum for help, so if everyone already knows what's coming up, it will help nobody!

Hope this has helped!

Peace out!

X1234

Hey,

Thanks for the advice above everybody.
Did any of you attend the FINANCE a/c?
Any more advice that anyone could add would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello.

Has anyone got a forthcoming assessment centre with Fujitsu for the finance programme? I successfully passed the telephone interview stage and was informed that there will be several assessment centres (some in February and some in April). However, I have not heard back from Fujitsu since. Is anyone else still waiting for a response? Please let me know. Thank you.

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if someone could give me advice about the phone interview? I'm really anxious about it (it's in a week), and could really do with some advice to calm my nerves as am currently really stressed out as have two jobs and not much free time to do loads of prep.

Any help would be reeeeally appreciated, even if vague. What kind of questions did you get? Do you remember how many? Are they just competency based, or do you get ones asking for specific reasons you are applying to them? And for the competency, what did people who haven't really been in societies say?

Thanks for any help. Any help with these q's is appreciated. Or any info on the Business Consulting side of things if you are now working there, etc.

tinalee

Hi, I just wondering if you could advice me about the Fujitsu phone interview as I saw you post this comment on the 27th October 2010. I have been do some research on the Fujitsu telephone interview from last year. These are the following questions, I hope these will help.
1) what does Fujitsu do?
2) What are the duties of your role?
3) Describe a time when you had to deal with a difficult member in a group
4) Dewscribe a time when you worked successfully in a team environment.
5) Describe a time when you had to analyse different sources of information

I also having Fujitsu Phone interview in the Mid November, could you please advice me those phone interview questions after you finish your interview??
I greatly apprciate you help.

macthemid

itown/tinalee; how did your interviews go? Any hints or tips?

itown

Ummm, my only tip is think of as many different possible groups/events/leading roles you have done. Mine failed. And I think part of the prob is they have too many questions and are too specific in trying to get competencies from you. Sorry, I don't remember any more!

Rae

Hi everyone. I didn't find the telephone interview as bad as some other companies. There was a general what do you know about the company chat and then the competencie based stuff, I guess around 7 questions?

macthemid

Hi Rae, how in depth were the questions about the company? They seem to be involved in so many projects, not too sure what to focus on! I'm guessing the usual competency Qs along the lines of working with colleagues, resolving problems etc?

jb1111
