I though to start this forum for people with the aspirations of joining the recently advertised Ford's IT Graduate Scheme. please let's share information here. I want to start by asking if anyone has done the online test and what was the structure? was it SHL?

Thanks, please let us keep this forum active.

Hey gutimarley,

Good work on setting this up!

I received an invite to do the online tests for the ford IT grad scheme and haven't done anything like this is in the past. Anyone know whether its SHL or another company?

Hi booops..

I recieved an invitation to do online Psychometric test for FORD.. hav u done ur test..??

Could u pls help me in this regard.. and if any one help me..it would be appreciated... ASAP..

thanks

Camaro

Hey guys! I have applied for the grad scheme in 'Material Planning and Logistics' 2011 intake.

I gave my test the day before. It says psychometric tests but its actually a logical reasoning test followed by a numerical test.

LR test: 24 Qs, 25 min. Numerical Test: 18 Qs, 25 min.

LR is all about identifying the next pattern in the given series. Numerical is set of 3 Qs on a given data. 6 such data sets.

And yes, it is conducted by SHL. Relax and have a good calci, you will get through :)

Good Luck!

Just got an email from Ford inviting for a telephonic interview :)

Not got the dates yet, will post here as I hear more.

If anyone has any info on telephonic interviews, please share. It would be of great help.

Thanks in Advance!

AjCaan

Hi, How did your phone interview go? please share if you receive any updates from ford. I had my phone interview last night, I was only asked competency based question and what I know about ford.

priyanka.mehta

Hi all, :-)

For those of you who've been invited to a telephone interview, don't worry; just make sure you know why you've applied to your chosen function, and why to Ford...The other questions are purely competency based..just remain calm :-)

I've been invited to the assessment center; mine is on September 30th. Would be glad if any one could share their assessment center's experience, if they've had any :-)

Good luck everyone!! :-)

Hi friends, I have a telephonic interview on 24 Sep. Any guidance would be appreciated (Priyanka, looking forward for some more inputs from your side since you already had one recently). Are they also using these rounds to recruit for experienced professionals? I have about 8 years experience in IT with a recent MBA from a leading business school.

Thanks in advance. Warm regards, SG

Just Gave my tests... Fingers crossed......

ajkoff

Hi friends,

Gave my tests today and got a telephone interview on Thursday (29th September)....

Hope everything goes well...

Hey guys, I finished my tel. interview. Its exactly as they say it would be in their guidelines in the 'my account' area. Lasted about 20 min. and was asked 5 Qs. 2 on Ford and 3 on competencies. Now, its time for the long-tense-frustrating wait :( The lady said 2 weeks. Hoping for the best. If anyone needs any info, PM me, I'd be happy to help. Good luck!

sg

Hi Camaro,

Mine is tomorrow morning. Please let me know what kind of information do I need to look up about Ford. What competencies did they cover for you ? Warm regards, Sagitha

Camaro

Hi sg,

I prepared by reading through the 'about us' part of ford's website. And also read wikipedia for some history, facts and figures (these are not verified, so use approximations when talking about figures). And then read about the grad scheme you have applied for. Competencies are the same as indicated in the guidelines. Keep your answers compact and to the point and focus more on what you did if you are talking about a teamwork. You should be fine if you do at least this much. Good Luck, keep us posted here on your progress.

Hey guys, I'm in for HR AC on the 5th of Oct.

sg

Hi, Just a doubt. Is this Graduate Recruitment programme even for people with 8-10 years of IT experience ?

SG

ajkoff

How was the AC guys?

tioto

I had the AC last week, seriously difficult for me anyway cuz of how highly qualified some of the other guys were, talking about Masters students! The interviews asked similar qs to telephone interview and a lot about programming even though i kinda made it clear i didnt much programming in the telephone interview stage.

any q just ask

zisk

Hey tioto, so the AC consists of candidates who applied different positions right? Did you all do the same exercises before the interviews? How were the exercises? Keep the faith. I'm like you too with just a degree :) I've just passed online, and hopefully will pass the phone interview when it comes and then go to AC.

Also you mention about programming questions. Were they detailed questions on a particular language or just programming questions in general? I too don't have much experience in programming :(

sg

Hi, Could someone kindly post their experience of the IT Assessment Centre, particularly the intray exercise? Does it have a multiple choice question format for the scenario presented?

Warm regards, SG

waheedm

Hello, has any1 who attended the IT Assessment Centre on the 17th oct. heard anything?

didi27

Got an email today for a phone interview on the 25th Oct. Good luck to me and to you all, will keep posting.

Abs01

Is anyone going to the AC on Monday 24th?

ism10tb

I have a telephone interview tomorrow... Hopefully that goes well... Thanks for starting the thread

whostolemypen

Can anyone here give me a clue as to what exactly "Customer focus" means. I mean what related example can I give.

Thanx in advance

ism10tb

Questions would be about a time that you have given excellent customer service and the likes...

whostolemypen

@ism10tb thank you... but I am applying for an IT role so how would customer service relate to my role? all the best for your interview do let us know how it went on.

ism10tb

Yeh, but you will be supporting some of their internal functions as well, and you need to have great customer service or customer service orientation to show that you can do well in an IT support function or IT support role... at leastt that is what i think

ism10tb

Just got done with my phone interview... It's in God's hands now...

She asked why I was interested in the program

Some of the challenges in the industry.

Spoke about sustainability, she asked me how Ford was doing in that area,

She asked when I have had to persevere on a project

When I have had to deliver to a customer or client

and when I have had to persuade someone.

whostolemypen
O I can see some unexpected questions there. I Hope you have coped up well ... good luck and thanks for the input

btw do you know when is the start date?

ism10tb

They said that they are looking for people to start this year, so the assessment centre will probably hold in the next couple of weeks, and then people will have a general start date sometime before the end of the year, buut they didnt have an exact start date as of now.

I mistakenly asked when in 2012 it was supposed to start and thats when she said that it starts sometime this year.

yg2011

Hi ism10tb

I have a telephone interview on the 27th Oct and could really use some information. Apart from the questions you mentioned do they also ask general interview questions like tell us about yourself, achievements, weakness and strengths etc. I haven't seen these questions being asked in other threads but wanted to be prepared in case. Please feel free to share any other info.

Thanks YG

Cecy

Somebody please give us useful tips on the AC plus scenarios in the group exercises, intray exercise and role play. This will be much appreciated. Thanks in anticipation......

ism10tb

Like everyone said, they pretty much ask about 5 questions... 2 about ford, 3 competency questions...

ntallaki

Heyyy everyone! Anyone going to the AC of next Monday (31st)? Come on, don't be shy, speak up! :D Tips etc would be truly appreciated, ufff... **stressed**stressed**stressed**

ism10tb

I got an invite for the assessment centre on teh 31st as well... I am yet to confirm on the website.... My sister went for it last week... she didnt get it though... I will try and get some tips from her.

whostolemypen

congrats to all who passed the telephone interview....... all the best for the AC

whostolemypen

m goin to the ACCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

ism10tb

@whostolemypen, did they ask the same questions during your telephone interview?

ism10tb

Hey guys, found this on a different thread. My sister said that she got the same thing.

I will share my experience of the assessment centre, which was held at CEME at Rainham Esexx on 13 December... The day consists of the following activities:

1) interview: same as telephone interview, its all competency based as prepare all examples which were asked to you .... Do research on Ford and also on the issues facing the automotive sector....

role play: An imaginary company, Regal Motors and Regal Finance exist and the objective is to merge two databases and come up with a presentataion on a flip chart within 25 minutes and after that present it to the person...

The assessor asks you questions which are pertinent to the scenario and also they ask u very different questions so u need to be preoared, as it can be v difficult..., and your job is to convince them as they don't want to merge.

in-tray exercise: same imaginary company and your manager has an accident so you need to fill in for them. you are then given 10-15 emails/memos that you need to prioritise and write down how you would react.. Its to do witha luanch of a car and you are interacting with different departments on behalf of your manager....

You also have a massive rescheduling news that basically turns everything into an emergency so you just need to know which areas need most attention etc.. its all common sense as all the information is there. if someone write "tell me by next week" then its more urgent that if someone writes "I need to know in the next 6 weeks" etc..

group exercise: you are given the same info on RM and RF to read about a relocation of offices between different departments...

There are objectives which you need to classify as a short term, medium and long term , have a discussion with candidates... also come up with different issues highlighted in the case and focus on having a close look on the time also.. which is very crucial..

You have to write down notes about prioritising, then sit with other candidates and discuss the options.

Hope this helps all persons and Ford was an excellent experience, so best of luck... The objective is to help any 1 and if some 1 is destined to get a job offer, they will get it and if they read thousands of forums, and if it is not in their fate, they will not get it... That's my perspective.....

whostolemypen

ya kind of same questions

Cecy

I had my phone interview today.... Same questions as expected (knowledge about ford, why you applied to the role and then competencey based questions). All you need to do is make sure you envisage likely questions that can be asked based on the scenario you give in the competency based answers. Nothing to worry about..... Its only 30 mins so not much probing. She said they need 24 IT graduates:o) Hopefully, I'd make it plus many of Y'all on this forum Fingers crossed. Will let you know when I hear from them.

Cheers all and good luck......

Mouseofmayhem

Hey guys, just wanted to know it anyone who attended the AC on 19th October had heard anything back as yet? Was hoping to have heard something by now. Let me know.

ism10tb

Cecy

Cheers and good luck to you all
