credit suisse assessment center
Any one have an idea of what the assessment center of credit suisse is like for an IT Technical Analyst role?
yea i got the feedback this morning,so part of what u need know is why your choice of uni? why ur choice of degree? what motivates you? what is your greatest acheivement? How do u work as part of team? why CS? and make sure u give examples to back up ur points and remember to ask few questions.
hey fumsam, was just wondering when you had your phone interview and when your ac is?
@klasik i had the phone interview on wednesday and they called on thursday to say i have AC next week
generally, how long does it take for CS to reply back after the tel interview... if u dont hear back within 2 days, does that mean its a rejection...cuz most pple who pass seem to hear back the very next day but not sure.... is there anyone who passed the tel interview and heard back after more than 2 days???
@fumsam, best of luck for ur assessment center...
good luck for ur ac fumsam !

Hi guys,
I applied to a Non-Technical role but, before the telephone interview, they told me I was chose for a Technical role. I'll have an AC on Wednesday. We will have a group discussion and 3 one-to-one interviews. Do you think one of them will be a "programming" one?
Thanks!
IB_grad, I was invited to their AC one week after the telephone interview so don't worry too much:) I guess they are arranging AC days so they'll only call you after that. Good luck!
I'm having my AC next Tuesday(01/12), anyone the same?
Bingshu
thanks Bingshu, best of luck to everyone attending assessment center next week :)
Hi idb_MD, it's in UK, London
Hi fumsam, sent u a message about this:)
Strangely I still haven't heard after my tel interview... I called HR and was told they don't have my feedback back from the recruiter yet?? I wonder if they lost my feedback form... :p @klasik... did u hear anything??
IB_grad: hi mate, how was your application going? I had my tel interview on 01.12.09, and as you, I am waiting for the further AC invitation. does anybody can give me some brief information about AC??
sdyajian, I have been invited for the AC next week. The AC will consist of a group exercise, and 3 one-on-one interviews. To my understanding, the interviews will be mainly motivational and competency based, whereas the group exercise will consist of a case study in which we will be required to present. Good luck!
Bingshu, hope your AC went well....was it for the IT technical role?
benbrahi , thanks mate, when did you take your telephone interview and which day will you take the AC/????
CHeers,
sdyajian, I had my telephone interview on the 26th Nov and heard back the following week. My AC is on 8/12.
Best of luck mate!!!
benbrahi : thanks mate, wish you best luck. all the best with your application. if possible, give me some brief information about your AC

Credit Suisse begin to end
Hi guys, as I can see there isn’t too much information about Credit Suisse AC here on the wikijob, I would love to share my experience applying for a graduate job at CS. I got a huge amount of help from the wikijob (a big thank you to dear oli_f!!) so I do hope my personal experience could be helpful to you guys too:)
I started my application to CS for a graduate IT role in October. They allow you to apply for 3 different roles so don’t waste the opportunity to maximise your chance. I applied for a non-technical IT role first then also the technical IT role. I’d been to their IT open day and found out they are looking for more technical graduates this year. Actually they just extended the deadline for technical IT role application so it’s still not too late to start applying! After a few weeks I received an invitation to do the online tests. The difficulty is similar to other banks so don’t worry too much as long as you’ve done practices:)
Another few weeks later I got a call from HR arranging me a telephone interview. The interviewer was a manager in the IT department and the interview wasn’t very formal, more like a chat. Some normal questions such as my background, why CS, and competency ones like tell me a time you set up a goal and went for it, also team work examples. I’m not a native English speaker so telephone interviews are always harder for me. Try your best to build a rapport in the interview. CS has very friendly staff and teams so they expect you to be the same:)
A week after the telephone interview I got my AC day confirmed. Again that was very very relaxed. There were 6 candidates and 6 managers on that day. The very important thing is these managers are all looking for graduates to join their teams so bear that in mind in the interviews. At the beginning there was a networking lunch. Take this opportunity to talk to managers who will not interview you later today. Because every candidate has 3 interviews so maybe your future “boss” is among the other 3 managers. Actually I got one extra interview because my CV caught the attention of a manager who wasn’t scheduled to interview me that day. Here more interviews = more chances, and interviews are all very relaxed so even 4 of these won’t make you exhausted:)
After the lunch we started the group exercises, 2 groups had 3 candidates in each. We got 10 minutes to read 5 pages of a case. 2 pages about the situation (a customer company of a bank needs some new software) and 3 pages about 3 different solutions. Then we had 30 or 40 minutes to discuss it and prepare for a 10 minutes presentation on our agreed suggestions. This exercise was relaxed too because there were only 3 of us in the group so I had plenty of chances to “speak”, which is the most important thing to do. HR told us many times not to be too quiet. After the presentation managers played roles by asking us some questions. Some questions were easy some were tough. Just try to give your best possible answer by showing them how you think. Defend your group’s suggestion and opinion.
The last part was three interviews. These should be called chats rather than interviews. The managers did have a list of suggested questions to ask, but they really managed to make it less formal. Some questions about your past experience, and based on your answer they could dig a little deeper to find out how you would behave in their team. There were really very few technical questions. They didn’t give me a technical problem to solve. All technical stuff I was asked was based on my answers to my past experience. What project I’ve done? What language? I talked about a pc game project so I was asked what language I used? My project was about the game’s network so I was asked which protocol I used? And something like that. Don’t worry about the technical stuff, just review your past project examples and make sure you know/understand what you did. The most important thing about the interviews I think is, again, to have a friendly conversation with the managers. Have connections. These managers want to hire graduates they want to work with in the future. Maybe my background is more suitable for this role and yours is more suitable for another role. Know what you want, why you can do that and make the managers know it.
The overall experience was really nice. Everyone there at Credit Suisse, from HR to managers, was so friendly. I can image how it feels working in such a great environment:)
After a loooooong week of waiting, I was very lucky to have received an offer. Because one particular manager gave very good feedback so I’ll be join his team. I think that’s how it works at CS.
I hope this could be helpful to you guys who are about to have CS AC. Should you want more information please feel free to post here or PM me. I’ll do my best to help:)
Good luck!!

@ Binghsu
Congratulations!!!! thank you very much for that insightful feedback. I have completed my tests for CS over a month ago now but have not heard back anything. I am slightly concerned and want to find out whether I should still expect anything.....Can you please give me a contact number for CS HR? When I call the switchboard I am re-directed to an automated message.
Thanks for your help.
thanks Bingshu!@
Did anybody, who took tel interview last week, receive the AC confirmation this week??
THanks.
Hey Bingshu!
Thank you very much for the comprehensive post. I have my assessment centre on Monday. I am slightly worried about the technical portions of the interviews. Do they require any particular programming skills like C or Java? I have a lot of experience in Perl and PHP but not much in C/Java.
Hi sasha123,
As far as I know different team/group there uses different programming language. So don't worry too much about lacking C/Jave experience. I do suggest you try to learn which team use what language, do it in the networking lunch as well as during the interview. If you know your interviewer's team uses a lot of Perl/PHP, don't miss the chance to show your experience. If you find a manager's team is using C/Java, it's important to prove that you are very eager to learn and you are a quick learner too. I know some C/C++ but no Java. A manager asked me why, did I prefer Microsoft? Do I think one is better than the other? My answer is no. I think different language has different pros and cons. They are simply more suitable for different tasks/situations. I know C/C++ because it happend to be more suitable for my past projects. The manager seemed quite happy with this answer. So, don't worry, be honest in the interviews, prove you'll learn quick and good. That's the best thing you can do and you'll be fine:) They know as long as you have an IT mind and some programming experience, it's fairly easy to learn another one. That's what the manager told me:)
Good luck and let me know your good news!
Bingshu

Bingshu

Is there anybody have the IT AC on next Mon? I got the invitation.

@egoneo
I hope not, because I am still waiting to hear back after my internship application and online tests.

Hi, not sure about the assessment centre, got a phone interview on monday. Have you already had one? If so how did it go? What sort of questions were you asked, just the usual why CS, why technical analyst and then competencies?
Good luck with the centre.
