So is anyone applying for the EMEA Trainee Broker Scheme at Tullett?

DeltaExchange

yep, i wonder when they will start reviewing applications!!!

Innercitydude

Yeah same here. I presume you have checked out the ICAP and Tradition Grad training programmes too?

Drizzy

Iv'e applied as well....don't think we are going to here back till they start screening the apps in January by the way it looked on their website!

Drizzy

Packham....have you sent your CV off to Tradition? Ive been keeping an eye on their website and for the UK grad scheme it still says 'TBD'. I sent them my CV over the summer but didnt even get a confirmation of receipt email. You herd from them?

Innercitydude

Sorry for late reply. Yeah i sent it to them but havent heard anything either. Just finished off and sent my ICAP applicaton for fulltime voice broking now so lets wait and see, there usually pretty quick to reply - last year i applied to the internship scheme and they were good when it came to communication!

newcastle_brown

ive been invited to online numerical test for tulletts but not heard back yet after completing it, anyone else?

jimmahi

How long ago did you get it?

newcastle_brown

yesterday

Commodity Player

For those who have been invited for the tests, how long after you submitted your application did you get invited for them? one week or more after?

jimmahi

I would say about two weeks or so. I did them about a week ago and have heard nothing since

gdnimrod

Heard back about 3 days after doing the Tullett ONT.

However, failed:( Never doing a test that hungover again:(

Commodity Player

@ jimmahi thanks for your response

@gdnimrod unlucky mate, did they take around two weeks to get back to you after submitting your app as well (for the online tests)?

newcastle_brown

i was invited to the online tests 2 and a half weeks after my application, still havent heard back yet but the test was harder than most - really hoping ill get through though!

good luck

Commodity Player

Thanks newcastle_brown, well someone got rejected three days after the test, so if you have not heard yet it can only be good news! Good Luck

Drizzy

Been invited to an HR interview. Did the numerical test last Friday, got the invite today. Anyone else had positive responce after numerical test yet?

newcastle_brown

also got the invite to interview after doing the test on thursday i think, what date have you gone for drizzy?

there were a lot of slots to pick from though so i imagine they are giving out a lot of interviews!

good luck

Drizzy

I've gone for the first available day, Friday 10th....what about you? Yeah I was a bit worried about how many slots were available! My thinking was to get in early, impress them and hopefully get to the next stage before they complete all the others. Dunno if it will turn out that way though!

Good luck as well mate!

stanmoor

Do Tullett offer internships at all? It's a shame if they don't :(

Drizzy

From what I can see on their website its only a Grad scheme that they are running. I've herd of people getting work experience at Tullett, GFI, BGC, Tradition etc in the past...but only from knowing someone who works there. Its unfortunate they don't offer anything formal.

stanmoor

Yeah I've heard that too. I very losely know a senior broker at Tullett, but that's through my boss. Might try and pull some strings...

Innercitydude

Pull the strings. I had work experience at Tullett last summer through a voice broker there, and the experience there is amazing. Not only that you get a better and real understanding of what broking actually entails, (a lot of drinking with clients) but seeing trades complete and the pace of the work is unreal. Also, having the experience on your CV will help you when applying for grad schemes next year if your applying for internships now, alot!

City_Gurl

Hey just got invited for an interview with tullett, does anyone know what their actual wage band is? I've heard from contacts that its about 35 K but I dare not believe that, in comparison to other brokers.

Musing

City Gurl - I reckon 35k is a bit steep, Tradition were offering 20k for a russian speaking trainee broker role recently, though I wouldn't be surprised with your figure either.

Innercitydude

It is 100% 35K plus bonus. They pay alot because of long hours and the work is hard.

Musing

Thanks Innercitydude, thats good to hear :) the disparity between traditions salary is a shock!

Innercitydude

Yeah tradition are no way near as big as Tullett/ICAP, plus they expect you to live in London, wine and dine clients etc, which if you werent paid at least 35K would be nearly impossible!

stanmoor

They don't pay for internships either..cheapskates. Their share of the pie is only going to get smaller anyway, they're convinced everyones investing too much in electronic broking

City_Gurl

Thanks for the response, and good luck to everyone on the interview 14th dec, my d-day :D <hope the trains keep working>

newcastle_brown

ive gone for the same tactic drizzy! hoping that as positions are given out first come first served for most grad jobs then its best to get in there early!

sounds like its the same sort of structure as a telephone interview though - ie just competencies really

35k is the same as ICAP so thats good to hear

Musing

Looking at the interview slots, it appears they're speaking to 100+ candidates this round of the scheme.

Drizzy

Yeah it looks that way....bearing in mind you can apply online until 30 Dec I think they may be having even more HR interviews in Jan too!

How many do you think they will put through to final round? 20? Then 5 offers? something like that I assume.....

Im sure interview will be just like the ICAP Tel, as mentioned by n_b

Musing

Yea I think they'll end up taking 5-10 people, thats what i think a "small number of trainees" would be.

Innercitydude

I would guess more than 5-10. Tullett havent had a grad scheme or hired anyone formally this way for about two years and with broking performing well against other financial sectors, especially with tullett focusing on voice broking i.e people, and the press in the city at the moment to increase grad jobs, on top of the fact there interviewing that volume of people, they will be looking for more than 5-10 employees. I will try and find out the figure i know a broker at tullett so will post any info...

newcastle_brown

but with HR interview stage they normally filter out a lot of candidates so they dont waste the executives/brokers time in the final stage interview, so id have assumed if the number of interviews is around 100 then as drizzy said maybe 20-30 final round with between 5 and 10 offers depending on the quality of applicants.

i am slightly surprised they dont do the first round interviews over the phone though

would be great if you could find out innercity to give a definite answer and end all this speculation!

jimmahi

Just to clarify, I don't think they plan on filling all those interview slots. I just logged on to reschedule and most of them were still free. Even those next week!

Drizzy

Thats good to know Jimmahi. Does anyone really know much at all about the scheme itself? Is it 2 years, 2 months?! Salary? Good chances of employment after? I suppose these are all questions to ask HR...there is very little on their website.

Also in the interview do we refer to them as Tullett Prebon? Or can we shorten it to Tullett's or anything else?!?

Cheers.

Musing

I take it everyone's received that interview re-schedule e-mail?

jimmahi

yeah, mine's now rescheduled for the third time. I did it a few hours ago, were there still plenty of spaces 20th-22nd? I don't think they are interviewing a massive amount of people, as had been suggested before.

Musing

Yep, If I remember correctly, there were one place for the 20th but for the 21st and 22nd far more spaces were available. I wonder the reason for the re-scheduling?

newcastle_brown

huh? what did this email say guys? i havent recieved one yet but my uni email can be quite slow!

kickstart23

hi guys

ive recently been looking into the TP broker scheme and am pretty interested. Do u guys know any more details on the program itself other than what has already been mentioned on the website?

i.e. what is involved and the format of the program i.e. tuition/mentoring and duration etc etc

many thanks

Musing

Hey newcastle brown

The email just said that they were rescheduling the interviews (delay really) but those that got early dates ie this friday it seems are unaffected. Nothing to worry about :)

newcastle_brown

ok thanks, strange they would reschedule though?!

bol

i've got mine on 22nd December, what is everyone elses background? Are you guys recent graduates or are you changing careers?

Innercitydude

Just attempted to do the numerical test and the bloody thing freezes, anyone else had any problems with it? Have emailed Tullett and SHL, really annoying!

bol

you tried using a different browser? Mine was acting weird so I used internet explorer..

WWCD89

did the interviews end up starting today or not?

Musing

I think Drizzy and a few others may have had them yesterday. How'd it go guys?

Drizzy

Very simple questions, why Tullett? Why broking? etc....plus the usual competency questions. HR lady was very friendly. I'm sure most people will be able to answer the questions well....I get the impression she was looking more for how you would fit within the company. Good luck!

WWCD89

cool, what did you find out about the actual scheme?
