I have received an email that I was invitated to do the psychometric test of RBS. I have never done this before, can anyone kindly tell me how to prepare it? Does it contain any numerical test as well? Thank you very much!

akoo

hi meetu...i have done the psychomtric with rbs and its just some behavioural questions...no numerical or verbal in it..hope this helps

el_marachi

akoo

how did the psychometric test go? can u give me an example of what the questions are like?
i have an email to do it too.

thanks!

babafagucci

its nothing you can prepare for, just gives you loads of statements, and asks u whether u strongly agree, agree, disagree etc..
An example statement would be sumin like "I am the type of person who enjoys the pressure of meeting deadlines."

akoo

@ el_marachi - i completely agree with babagafucci.

el_marachi

thanks akoo & babagafucci, i did the test today. How long does it usually take before u hear back from them?...and has anyone heard back from them yet?

babafagucci

I got an email back on the 23rd saying:

After reviewing your CV and your responses to our online assessment, we are pleased to inform you that you have met our requirements at the first assessed stage.

We have received a large number of very high quality applications, which we are reviewing before finalising whom we wish to invite to the next stage. We remain interested in your application, and will contact you in due course to confirm how we wish to proceed.

Most probably means theyre doing the reviewing process in the new year.

akoo

I completely agree with babafagucci in this one as well. Only difference is I got the same email in 9 Dec.

I was inviated to do the numerical test now! :) what about you guys? Has anyone done it already? Does RBS use SHL? Do you know any website provide the similar test which I can do some practice? Thanks!

meet-u

I did the numerical test yesterday, how long does it normally take to get the result?

Jag

@ meet-u

was the numerical test for RBS GBM Markets Internship?

meet-u

no it is private banking.

bab00n

Do you have to do a verbal after the numerical?

molniiuk

Hi all,

I did the numerical test at the beginning of Dec and didn't hear back until the start of January. I had practically written the whole thing off by then!

Also, I didn't think I did very well during the numerical test do it's worth bearing in mind that they really do take your whole application into consideration before making a decision.

Hi guys,
Was the numerical test timed? Do you remember how many questions was on it?
Thank you and good luck to everybody.

Hey guys,

I have done the abstract reasoning test after successfully passing numerical and later my application status changed to "Application referral to alternate business area". Actually, I applied to Global Banking and Markets.

Does it mean that they want my application to be considered with different role? or Is it a polite way of rejecting my application?

eric cartman

Does RBS send out a test to everyone or do they screen applications before inviting you to do tests?

ulugbek55

I think they review but strange thing is I got invidation to take online test after 2 days of app. submition saying:

Thank you for your application to The Royal Bank of Scotland Group graduate programme.

We have reviewed your details against our recruitment criteria and would like to invite you to participate in the next stage of our selection process - an Online Abstract Reasoning Test.

eric cartman

Thats exactly the same thing that happened with me.
I do not want to get my hopes up by getting a test that everyone gets with other banks like DB,BarCap etc.

The_stalward

Hi all,

I have taken RBS online test on 5th October, after that i have recieved a message.

"Dear Chetan

Thank you for your application to The Royal Bank of Scotland Group graduate programme.

After reviewing your details and your responses to our online assessment, we are pleased to inform you that you have met our requirements.

We have received a large number of very high quality applications, which we are reviewing before finalising whom we wish to invite to the next stage. We remain interested in your application, and will contact you in due course to confirm how we wish to proceed.

In the interim, if you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us via the Message Centre at http://www.rbsgraduates.com.

Kind Regards"

Please share some insight on how much time RBS takes to notify for next round.

Thanks in Advance

tikenjah

Anyone with "application referral to alternate business area" statut got news?
thx!

ulugbek55

tikenjah,

I have the same status refferal to alternate business area. What do you think it means?

Do we have to send them an email? Which office did you apply?

tikenjah

Paris - GM Sales Analyst (told you on the other rbs thread)!
I think we should email them but their message center is such a crap!

Apparently, RBS is interviewing for its FT positions now and internships will begin towards mid-late November.

eti

hi guys, are you talking about the abstract reasoning test?
I have to do it in the next few days..what shall i expect?
shl type test? diagrams, figures and stuff?
any info much appreciated!

citygirl

Hi eti,

have you heard back from RBS? I did the abstract reasoning test today.... have you done yours yet? yes it's typical abstract reasoning test....not numerical at all. By any chance, would you know if the next stage is numerical and verbal testing or an AC?

thank you!

googlegirl

Hello Eti,

On the RBS website, it appears that if you've passed your online psychometric test, the next stage would be an Ability Center or Assessment Center depending on which division you applied to. More information:

https://www.makeitrbs.com/uk/gbm/apply/selection-process

I received an email for the online abstract reasoning test too. Any advice on where to practice before I take it?

The_stalward

Hi Guys/Girls,

The latest update i got from RBS.

" Owing to the large number of high quality applications that we have received, we regret that we are still unable to confirm how we want to proceed with your application. However, we are happy to confirm our continued interest in your application and it still remains under consideration. We will contact you as soon as possible to let you know if we will be proceeding with your application."

This is really funny ..... "we regret that we are still unable to confirm how we want to proceed with your application"

DN

Hi All,

I just got the FIRST email from RBS inviting me taking the online test. So as per your discussions, can I assume that this FIRST TEST is only behavioural, with nothing I can prepare for? no verbal, numerical or abstract reasoning at all at this stage right?
THANK YOU!

lorchii

i think so! it will state numerical if it is! i did the personality type one, which is untimed and not at all pressurised (and quite fair) and then was invited to do a numerical test (which I have yet to do and would not turn down some helpful advice on this)! I'm good at maths but these things scare me!! It's not maths skills but quick thinkin and fast fingers! It's gonna be a long road ahead as the role I applied for seems to have an ability centre too ughh!

DN

@lorchii,
I finished my personality test Tuesday evening and got an email from RBS but siad bascially nothing but asking me to wait. How long did it take you to be invited for the numerical test, did you get the email like mine sayomg

"Thank you for taking the time to complete the online exercise for The Royal Bank of Scotland Group graduate development programme. We are currently reviewing applications against our selection criteria. We will be in contact with you once we have an update on your application.

For the numerical test, I have done a few and they are quite similar. I guess practicing before hand is very helpful and you can just got free sample from SHL or wikijob.

Which division did u apply for, I applied for the Accounting full time, and looks I have a loooong road ahead as well. Good luck wit everything :) And I appreciate if you could share some experience on ur future application process. Thanks!

@DN

I submitted it and then a day later I had a message saying

"Thank you for your application to The Royal Bank of Scotland Group graduate programme.

We have reviewed your details against our recruitment criteria and would like to invite you to participate in the next stage of our selection process, where we will be measuring your numerical reasoning abilities"

So I think you would have heard fairly fast if you had failed. I applied for Risk, so its very reasonable to think that you don't have to do one with accounting, or thats what they are doing at an assessment centre! I wouldn't panic anyways! Application processes change depending on the role being applied for!!

Best of luck with it yourself too :)

petros786

Hello, I was wondering if any of you could give me some information on the RBS GBM Markets summer internship?

In one of their screening questions they ask you what you know about the programme.... but on their website there is basically nothing about it except :

"GBM Markets – during your internship you will undertake a range of placements including Trading, Sales, Research & Strategy and Structuring"

it doesn't even tell you if you rotate...

can anyone help me and give me some more information on it?
Thank you

DN

@ Lorchii,

Thank you so much for the quick reply, and I am now more released. Your response from RBS was really fast, which I believe is a really good sign, congrats!! Good luck with ur numerical test, and I believe you will find it is not that hard in the end :)

lorchii

@ DN

I did make it past the numeracy test (thank god) and I'm now off to an ability centre in January! So cheers for the words of encouragement and I would like to reiterate the fact that not hearing from a firm is not a bad thing! If they are done with your application you'd have gotten the email! RBS seems to be quite on top of things and it takes two seconds to send you the dreaded rejection email!!

If anyone has applied for risk I would welcome all past experiences.

DN

@ Lorchii,

Congrats and thank you for the kind message -- Yes, I was invited to take the numerical test now :D Was it hard for you? Is there a logical or verbal test following after the numerical test? Thanks so much and good luck with the Ability Centre in January.

mehakvasal

i have been called for the numeric test too! how many questions are there? what is the time limit? Is it standard SHL stuff or hard...plzzz help!!!

lorchii

@ DN
the numeracy test is fine. If you have done others by any of the banks, it follows the same line of questioning...graphs, %'s, currency etc It's SHL but not as hard as it could be. Once that was done, I got a message the next day inviting me to an assessment centre, so no, I don't think there is a verbal reasoning one at all! It has 21 questions or something, and about a minute per question. I could be wrong tho, all these tests are starting to form into one memory. I got to the last question anyway and was about to answer it and it timed out! So either I'm improving or its easier than other ones i have done!!

mehakvasal

@ lorchii
thanxx a lot.....that really helped......although i have no deadline to do the teat I think i am going to take it in a day or two....
I hope i dont have to take the verbal reasoning as well! Best of luck for assessment centre!

DN

at Lorchii,

Thanks for the message! Best luck for the Assessment Center :)

Hey guys,
If anybody there I want to discuss an issue here
Does it really matter when do we do the tests after we receive an invitation? I mean, does the fact when you accomplish the tests show yuor attitude to the job. For instance, if you do the test straight after you have been invited it means you are very interested in the job and kind of want to start everything so quickly.?? Thanks

pratikprakash9

does anyone know what testing company RBS uses? I know its definitely not SHL for this year.

gooner1886

just had an email with a link for a psychometric test

there isnt a dead line is there by which we have to do it otherwise the link will expire? I cant get home till the weekend!

pratikprakash9

i would recommend you drop them an email regarding the problem. It would be the safest option. x
