Ahh mines the week after you then. Do you know if the interviews will be just competency based or technical as well. I've heard they are just competency but maybe wrong?

Do you mean the telephone interviews? If so then I had mine early december.

You had a telephone interview? I had 2 face-to-face interviews for the 1st round. Had mine last friday on the 7th of Jan.

AC at MS for summer internship was 3 interviews, a presentation exercise and group work. The three interviews are very casual, some competency involved, mainly talking about your experiences, why you are inquisitive etc. It must be said I was in Equity Research, but from what I've heard there are definite synergies between processes.

The presentation was on a stock and I had to provide recommendations to an MD who was a stock selector (don't be scared by that, they're all normal people). Group work was standard, if you're interviewing at MS then you should know what to expect from group exercises.

For the 1st round there's no test. Just two mostly competency based interviews.

Thank you captain Kirk. Does anyone know if there is a verbal reasoning test in the AC? If yes is there only numerical and verbal?

Also how many ACs (and how many positions) do they have this year, anyone know?

I have my AC coming soon and was wondering how it looks like. Should I expect role-plays ? Presentations ? It certainly depends on the division as well. Anyway, good luck to all of you for these AC.

how was the assesment centre experience? Ive for another division but was just wandering what to expect

3 interviews, technical/competency based, i was asked for the square root of 17. one on one presentation, my guy was quite pushy and aggressive but i think he did it on purpose to see how i'd cope with it, you need to stick to your guns, it requires you to come up with a few investment ideas based on a few news articles and your own commercial knowledge. a nexia numerical test, 20 mins, 20 questions, not too difficult. a group exercise, again not too bad, need to come up with a few business ideas, relative to a brief that you will be given.

And if you can survive all that you get an offer :)

I was going for Sales and got an offer for a Sales/Research rotation, but she did ask for the square root of 17 knowing I was going for sales. Most of my questions were technical/ commercial awareness but I tended to steer the conversation that way anyway. I was also asked what a CDS was and how it might be valued and lots of questions on my opinions on emerging markets, the US, commodities and european debt in 2011.

I spoke about the market moving data that was coming out that week. Swiss CPI, PPI, US housing starts, US initial jobless claims, Philadelfia manufacturing data. GS, MS, IBM, Apple and other tech results, Spanish, Italian and Portugese successful debt sales.
