I've created the essence of a wiki on Man Group here. Take a look and see if any of the information is useful to you - I'm afraid I don't have any very detailed information for you. When's your interview?

my interview is on the 7th Jan. i think it ll last approximately 40-50 mins. i ll update how its going on.
thanx so much!

Einhorn VS Buffet

@Daisy

I was a big fan of ManGroup but they endured a horrendous year last year. The crucial thing with alternative investment is the need to procure gains for clients in both good and bad markets. I was interested in one of their Investment Programmes but they have a strong preference for Master students.

I recommend searching other websites like thestudentroom or even going on google, I am sure something will show up. This forum doesn't really cater for Alternative Investments and hence the lack of replies. If you do find a forum that serves this niche, please let me know as well!!

Unemployable

Daisy,

I had a telephone interview for the Technology program in December. Found it quite refreshing: although it's pitched as a "competancy based" there was none of the usual "name a time when you..." bullshit we all know and love. Instead it took the form of a walk-through of my CV, asking about motivating for choosing degree, projects, challenges encountered during internships ect, plus the usual motivation type questions. Just make sure you know your CV, and you should be fine.

@Einhorn VS Buffet: (wow, that's a fight I'd pay to watch). Agree that Man didn't do brilliant last year - was under the impression that they're quite well placed for a recovery though. Any thoughts?

Also would be interested in anyone's opinion on technology careers in hedge fundss. Is the whole "back office" stigma from banking present? What are exit ops like, are you as likely to get pidgeon holed as at an IB?

Do you have a F2F interview lined up Unemployable? I have mine on Friday.

I would suggest the exit options would be good at MAN, particularly with some of the qualifications they appear to sponsor you through.

Unemployable

Yup, have a technical one coming up. Actually slightly nervous given their rather academic reputation, so if anyone has any pointers that would be much appreciated!

Best of luck for Friday :)

Are you a Comp Sci grad?

@all: thanx for ur comment and advice.

I just had my interview today which lasted abt 30mins. The interview was really refreshing exactly like what Unemployable said. We talked abt my degree, projects, my internship, my extracurricular activities and a bit about the culture of Man Group. I would hear back from them at the end of next week after HR discuss with the Finance team abt all the candidates.

@Unemployable: how long did they take to reply back to you? when is your final round?

thanx all

Glad it went ok. I heard back from the phone interview within a day, but I guess there must be different procedures for the tech and business program. Not sure if I've made it to the AC yet, but I think it's on the 22nd. Good luck!
