Has anyone else applied to Macquarie Capital for a graduate programm? Any news?
I have submitted my application on 15/9/2009 and got any response from them so far.

Guys, I spoke to a lady from Macquarie a few days ago, she said they're not reviewing any of their applications until after the submission deadline. The same lady told me that when she applied she had done so about 3 hours before the deadline and eventually got the job - so there's hope for all!

Not heard a word yet but I didn't get invited to their drinks in London last Friday so I'm not holding out hope!

It was not a formal drink reception for graduates (or shortlisted graduates); it was a networking event. Lord McDonald was not even there (for those who are interested in IBD). So no need to worry.

I just got a reply after submitting my application: rejection but it also said they "would like to retain your details on file in the event that further opportunities to join our team become available. "

Is this the standard thing they say to everyone?

@ the09, I got the same email about 3/4 days ago, I assume it's the standard reply they send to those who don't make it to the next stage.

got first round onterview on wednesday and invitation to the numeracy test next week ! 3 hours of AC in their office...

I got the invitation for the interview last week. Then went to the interview yesterday and told me straight after to go to the AC. I could take it that day cause I am not from London but I have to go back there next week.

How was your interview? I have an interview next wednesday?
Was it just standard competency based? Teamwork, leader etc?

As far as i remember, they have 1st round and ppl who pass it are told to stay on for the testing sessions same day...............so the 1st round for Macquarie Cap already started???

Yes first round started last week already. I think. They didn't tell me anything about the testing sessions? I received an email that I was invited for a tel interview, because i was not living near their office, but I am, so a changed it in a face-to-face. Anyone has extra tips for the interview? It is my first ever, so i need some!!!

Does anyone know how we need to be dressed for the AC day ? They say to wear "comfortable cloth"... Can i bounce in in Jeans or dressed up as for a real interview.

not a jeans, but i don t think you need to wear a suite. in between

Its both commercial awarness and motivation. the HR ask you to go through you CV and ask you things like why Inv Bank, What do you know of Mac Cap. It should be fine, do not worry guys !!!!!!!! Still fucking waiting for JPM, HSBC, Credit Suisse, Fidelity, Morgan Stanley to wake up from their sleep and come back with some news... ARG !

Does anyone else think it's weird that Macquarie doesn't pay for travelling expenses for interviews. I had to pay to go to Leeds to sit their test, and it left a really bad taste in my mouth, not because it was expensive, but because it really shows how little they care about courting grads - and, clearly, how desperate they all think we are. What next, unpaid internships?

Hi guys, does anyone know how many rounds of interviews do Macquarie have? Because I am invited to the first round, and I was told second round will be on the same day if I pass the first round. Does that mean, the whole selection process will only span one afternoon?

There is a three stage process. 1- interview, 2 - psihometric testing, 3 - interview with the businesses

@claudiu So everything is going to happen on the same day and nothing else afterwards before they make you an offer?

No. Interview with senior managers is held after analysis of the AC taken the same day as the first interview ! The laps of time can take from 1 to 3 weeks before you know the outcome of the test. Cheers.

I just had my first interview and AC today. Personally I dont see the point of a personality test... Does anyone know what they are looking for in the personality test?

I applied to Risk , what abt u? I didnt really prepare for it, cos its SHL, I have had a lot of practice before.

capital, I never did the SHL tests, so need to do some practice, good luck with your application!
