Legal and General Telephone Interview
I have a short telephone interview for investment management position tomorrow, anyone know what they will ask me?
Cheers
No, I haven't received any correspondance from them. Can I ask when you got the email about the online test?
Not sure precisely but under a week, but been waiting over two weeks for feedback, not sure i did well though
Did the tests about a week and a half ago but haven't heard anything. Has anyone been rejected post tests pre interview yet?
Yh I did the test about a few weeks ago but i got sent a message saying I should do the test again really confusing so not sure what they are up to.
I too applied for the lgim graduate position. I got through to the telephone interview (usual standard questions mainly)on the 14th of july and the guy who took it told me they were running assessment centres on the 22nd and 29th. However i still havent heard anything back from them. Naturally i am assuming that my application was unsuccessful but sure they would have the common decency to send me an e mail saying thanks but no thanks. However having said that he did say they were working through a number of applications. I would love to hear everyone elses story and if anyone actually got to the assessment centre

I had the telephone interviews with L&G and I was sent an email last Wednesday that I didn't go through to the Assessment Centre. They told me they received 1500 applications, interviewed 70 and only 16 went to the Assessment Centre.
sorry mate,
what kinda questions did they ask you. I applied for the IT role and I am dreading questions they are going to ask but fore knowledge will allow me to prepare.
Thanks
Basically it's the standard questions such as why l&g, why the specific area. Then they asked some competency ones and they had some rather tricky ones such as tell me a thing you feel passionate about. You should be fine if you prepare well
Any one going to the assessment centre on 31st August??.
I will give LGIM one thing...They are thorough...With this much to do in assessment centre, you cant employ the wrong person...
Does anyone have any update about their application adventure with LG or LGIM?
@bluechip..did u appply for the I.m role or the IT. I did the AC but I just want them to get back to me to say I got it or not.the wait is killing.how long did they take before getting back to to you?
The nice ladies there said for IT- they are interviewing 7 people for tentatively 2-3 positions... Better odds than the inv management route I bet.
I went for the IM role... did they tell you when you should expect an answer? If you don't hear from them when they said you would, that's probably not a very a good sign as they wait until all of the grads that were offered a place accept before rejecting the rest. But you never know, I wouldn't really assume anything before they let you know... They got back to me in 1 week after the AC.
Bluechip,
Would you please tell me the events that took place at the A.C. in as much detail as you would care to provide? Thank you!
Hey, right...
Morning: 2hour group investing exercise. They will basically send you relevant materials that you need to go through prior to the AC- what products/how they invest, geographical areas, etc. During the actual exercise, you will invest over four 3-month periods- they will give you economic outlook at the beginning of each and what benchmark you're trying to beat- outperform a market index. You as a group have to decide on your investment strategy based on the info they provide you with- e.g. if you want to be overweight in equity (relative to the benchmark)... your performance will then be measured against the performance of the index.. the most important thing here is how you interact, but surely you need to be able to justify your decisions. At the end of the exercise, you will be asked questions, such as what would you have done differently, pros/cons of active/passive IM, etc. For me, this was the most enjoyable part of the day.
Lunch: You get to meet the fund managers, senior staff as well as grads
Afternoon: Numerical test- a lot harder than the SHL one... but I don't see how you can prepare for that really... it's Kenexa as well, but for each questions you will have more graphs/tables and it's quite time pressured. Individual interviews- mostly competencies, commercial awareness, motivation, and your CV. Presentations- for that you need to prepare at home, they will tell you the topic in advance. This is also clearly testing your presentation skills and commercial awareness. You should have powerpoint slides, list of references you used and should know what you're talking about very well as they will ask you questions. Our topic was "Is the Euro likely to fail, and what impact it would have on the UK economy."
That's it!
Hi all,
Has anyone applied to the 2012 L&G Investments scheme?
Yes, I was invited to do numerical and verbal tests but haven't heard back since then. It was last week
Has anyone been invited for the telephone interview yet? I also have just done the tests last week and am waiting for the decision on if I passed.
I have been invited to do the tests as well. How did you guys practice? Are they similar to the SHL ones?
Yeah, I applied and have been invited to take the online tests, I won't be able to take them until saturday though, has anyone taken them and heard back?

Got an email saying they received my test results and that I should hear back by Friday 11th.
Found the maths test pretty much like any standard one, but did anyone find that the wording on the verbal test was more ambiguous than normal?
I'm hoping everyone on the forum who applied to the L&G programme got through to the telephone interview stage. From what I've read the interview is not unlike last years. Does anyone remember the questions from last year? From what I know so far, we'll get asked;
1. Why Legal & General? 2. Why your chosen division/area? 3. Tell me something you feel passionate about? 4.... 5.... 6....
Can someone fill in the rest for us please?!
Hey max,
Quick question - when were you invited to interview? I completed the tests last week but still haven't heard back.
Thanks,
I got invited yesterday, but I originally applied just over a month ago, don't worry about it though, most of the interview slots were still open when I booked mine yesterday.
When are the interviews mate just wanna know because of exams. Good luck with yours
As far as I could see, they were up until the end of the month. I'll need a lot of luck!

What role did you apply for max?

Hi kkhimji2001
I have also applied for the LGIM graduate position. I applied on the 15th 9the deadline was on the 18th0 and I was wondering when you heard from them about the interview?
They said to keep the 22nd and 29th free for interviews and I am yet to hear back from them. If they had rejected my application I hope they would have emailed me.
