Internships 2012 - too late?

I have just read some of the topics posted here and I have got a feeling that it might be too late for applying to summer internships 2012? Is that the consensus among most of you guys here?
Last week I applied to most of the UK-banks for both font, middle and back office positions. But it seems like most of them already have started with the first and also second round of interviews. I have made all of the tests (no rejections so far) and they are under review.
Should I honestly expect that they might call me one day or is it too late?
