ICAP Phone Interview

check out some of the previous threads on ICAP, they tell you everything. Besides the interview is just 15-20mins long and one of the easiest one i had.

Already checked the thread out. I refuse to believe anything is simple so covering all bases to make sure. Were you successful? Do you work for ICAP?

haha.... well, mate it is simple. I passed the telephone interview.... and was invited to AC. Had my AC, which also I found very easy.... and should pass it..... then comes the final round - two interviews with the business.

Ah nice sounds not to bad then. Which division are you going or you not fussed got my phone interview on Friday.

Doesn't really answer any of your questions but i thought this may be of some relevance nevertheless. I'd never really heard about brokering as a career option and never really knew what it meant but i noticed this in last week's Gateway:

(The first half is just generic HR waffle but the second half is more interesting)

passed the AC. Told ya, it was easy..... Invited to the final round now!

even though I found the AC easy, if anyone needs any help, let me know. The description in the other thread is the correct description.

• SHL Numerical Test
• SHL Verbal Test
• Group Exercise - puzzle
• Trading simulation (if applied to broking)
• 10mins HR Interview

Total time - 3.5hrs MAX

Nice one. Il let you know how my phone interview goes tomorrow if i get through to the AC il be sure to have some questions.

i applied a while ago. From what I heard from the Graduates, he programme starts in August/September.

Tell me about ICAP's competitors: I initially replied to this in the usual way Tullet etc but then she asked about competitiors in ship broking so if you are applying for that or electronic broking make sure you know this as if i hadnt had my laptop in front of me would have been stuck.

I find those forums useful so I thought I should share. i had a phone interview with Icap. Questions were: Why ICAP? What are our activities? Why will you be good at this role? What are the 8 type of risk? Example of working with a challenging person Example of work when you had to work under pressure Competitors External activities.

I've got mine coming up soon, haven't seen much info on the shipping research interview but I think it will be different from the risk or broker ones..

Yeah mine will be on Thursday morning. I'll update the thread once I've done it. I wish I know more questions though.

Hi, I got a telephone interview with ICAP for the accounting scheme. These were the questions:

Why ICAP? What research have you done to prepare? Who are our competitors? What was our group revenue? What was the operating profit? What are our strategic goals? What is 7% of 7? What is 1/16 as a decimal? Where else did you apply to? Give an example of how you dealt with a challenging person Give an example how you had attention to detail despite time pressure Why did you choose accounting as a career?

I have a telephone interview coming up for the Shipping Research division and was wondering whether you could be so kind as to share the questions as before for other divisions...are the questions the same for all divisions (except questions like why research as opposed to why accounting or broking)? Or can we expect very different questions?

I read ur post on the phone interview questions! I was wondering did it get any more technical then that as i am appyling to the bus services division too. It seems more general from what have written!

Were you succesful and how long did it last, i got mine coming up soon!!

I just had my telephone interview today for the human resources division. Questions they asked were something along the lines of: What do you know about ICAP? Why ICAP? Why do you want to work in HR? Name 3 products ICAP sells. Describe a situation where you had to work to a tight deadline. Describe yourself in 3 words. How would people you've worked in a team before describe you? In a team situation, do you take on a leader or doer role? What's your weakness?

That's all i can remember! but hope that's helpful..bear in mind that this was for the HR division and not one of the main broking departments.

How did you get on in intervew? Mine was postponed from 4th Jan and now have it tomorrow!

For the business services telephone interview from what I remember they asked;

Why ICAP? Why this division? What does this division entail and how important is to the running of ICAP. Share price? FTSE 100 price? Who are our competitors? What can you tell us from looking at our financial statements? Thats all I can remember tbh! Good luck guys. They usually tell you the next day if you've passed.

I just had my interview for Post Trade Risk Services today, for 2012 programme. Thought i had share my experience:

First we talked through my C.V, briefly touching on education and experience. Then i was asked:

What do you know about ICAP? Why have you applied/your motivation to post trade risk services? Name three products that ICAP trades in (specific to OTC) ? Tell me of different part/divisions of Post Trade Risk Service? Do you know what is the ICAP Share price? A piece of news that would affect ICAP? Tell me of a time when you worked with a person who was unreceptive? what did you do? Tell me a time when you used your networking skills to get a job done?

The interview must have been between 15-20 mins long Good Luck!
