I applied to IBD in GS about three weeks ago, but have not heard anything back since. It just says they will get in touch should the appropriatejob come up.

Has anyone heard from them? Does anyone know their timetable for applications/interviews?

Goldman Sachs waited for the deadline (last Friday) to review the applications like every year. They're not recruiting on a rolling basis like CS or Barcap.

same here. I applied to GS AM more than a month back but havent heard from them since.

GS contacts only after the deadline has passed! Never before that!

@IBD: I applied to technology area, stil havent heard ne thing!

Where did you apply to? Do you know when the deadline ends?

I didnt apply to Tech. The deadline is 18 October 2009 for all divisions. Since the deadline has now passed, you guys can except to hear back very soon! the first round interviews will be held this month or next months.

@CK - I am not about the exact recruitment process for Technology, but for front office roles, its is usually numerical tests at the GS office. and then if you pass, then first round interview the following day! and then ofcourse AC....etc..etc...

anyone know any contact email address for Goldman Sachs London recruitment?? need it ASAP!

CK

@ck how long ago did you apply?

thanks. I have written an email to GS recruiting team but received no replies sofar. I guess this is bad news :-(

@ i applied just after opening!

i emailed them 2 ask what has happened to my app they said after deadline youll hear from us in two weeks, this is the third week now!

how abt urself?

@ nexus hopefullt no news is good news!

ck

i applied on the 3rd november for tech, got an invite to interview this wednesday. No news is probably good news, if they didnt want you they would have rejected you by now

I think if you haven't heard back from GS by now (me included) you should not have high hopes. What IB's normally do is not reject anyone until the actual positions have been filled, i know this is true with Deutsche Bank. It is so they can keep you as a back up unless anyone drops out. Sucks, but it seems GS are applying that method.

I am thinking about calling them, did anybody try this? Anybody got the number?

@nexus

i havent got there number! i havent tried it...

@nexus

Here's the number: +44 20 7774 1000

Just ask to be put through to the grad recruitment for your selected division. I contacted them a week ago said they are still in the process of reviewing apps, said that they will contact me within the next week, it's been a week lol. I guess the review time will differ between divisions.

@ddhaliwal1

thanks a lot! I will try this week

Everybody who wants to contact them:

1) log in the applicatoin system 2) click on the left side "Help Center" 3) look for the topic about application status 4) click "no" to the question if this was helpful and fill in you e-mail in the form

!!HOWEVER!! : I can really not recommend to contact them and ask about your application status!!!

I contacted them about my status, as it hasn't been updated for a while (under review) and I got a nice e-mail from HR, that basically said to shut up until THEY will get back to you. So there is no chance of a relief of your uncertainty if you contact them, they will contact you if they really have something new and they won't tell you anything that is not an accessable information anyway.

I read in another thread somebody saying how Deutsche Bank is recruiting, and I think this applies also to GS. It's a waterfall principle.. they have their target universities which are the 1st tiers in Europe, and they'll invite matching applicants from those universities first to fill up their positions. Matching applicants from 2nd tier universities are put on hold and kept warm (under review) for the case that some of the 1st tier graduates jumps off or whatever. Even if you're fitting and luckily to get invited: after 1st tier applicants. That might be why you're under review for weeks, why they dont tell you when they start recruiting, why you can read that other get invited while your status is under review, and why you're probably get rejected after you waited for weeks and still put hope in it.

I applied to Asset Management and havent heard from from them either, I find their recruiting process quite mystical to be honest..

Hello,

I also applied to technology just before (or same day as) deadline day.

I received an e-mail today inviting me to a presentation/events day that I also applied for taking place this Friday, running from 11 in the morning until 5:30 in the evening. Basically the day is to describe the Technology division, what Goldman do etc.

My application is still "under review" and I guess this presentation is unrelated. However, I did notice they included an "expense" claim form in the e-mail and told my application to attend had been accepted. I doubt it means much, but I guess it will be an experience and I see it as a good thing.

I also know of a class mate who got invited to an interview a couple of weeks back, yet to hear if he made it through, this was also for Technology division.

Thought I would let other knows, make sure you keep an eye on your e-mail if you applied to something similar!

Cheers

@timmy magic

where did u apply for the presenation for goldman sachs?

is that still avaliable?

Thanks

CK

are they done with their IBD FT first round interviews??? or are they gonna schedule anymore???

  • anyone knows the answer to that?

Hi,

I applied via the same application site as the main application, via "events application" or something similar.

Not sure if they are still taking applications, give it a shot

Cheers

@IBD_Haunter,

I dont know.. but I strongly assume, unfortunately

I wouldn't expect them to be done just yet. Next week should be the deciding/final one....

@avam have you tried contacting them (email or phone)?

@SK22: actually, I haven’t ..I’m not sure that they would give me a proper response, GS really sucks at responding to applicants, I find JPM far better …

Received final response today for IBD London.

Hopefully good news..?

hey guys

I havent heard from GS technology! is that a sign that it looking like a rejection?

Any body else in this situation?

Thanks

CK

Hi Guys

Has anyone heard from Operations

I have just submited an application for a summer position on the same day as the deadline (6th Dec, 09) at about 2am. I got an error message at the end saying something like 'your action can not be proceed now' and a link back to the communication centre. As anyone would do, I freaked out badly. However, back in the communication centre it says that my application has received. But I still got some questions:

1) are you not meant to send the application at the deadline date? 2) after submitting the application, do you get an email confirmation?

Thanks guys.

Hi

Could somebody advise me on the application process at Goldman Tech (Singapore). I've read many conflicting posts on the exact application process. Is it round 1 > round 2 > AC? Or round 1 > round 2 > round 3 > AC? or 4 rounds and then AC?

Thanks in advance.

Pawan

Hey

I had a similar kind of problem when I applied, although it wasn't on the deadline date. I emailed them and they replied saying that I had resolved the issue on my own and said that as long as the communication center shows "app received", you're fine.

In my understanding, you can surely apply on the deadline date BUT you have to keep in mind the time difference as the deadline is midnight of some time zone.

Also, for goldman, you do not get an email confirmation.

Hope that helps.

Pawan

Thanks Pawan. I sent them an email regarding this, and they replied extremely fast. They said the application has been received, so no worries.

Thanks again.

hey, when you guys interviewed with GS, did you get the interviewer's contact information? or who did they tell you to contact to check your status??

Hi ijwbs

In my case, the contact information was not provided. However, I was told that HR would be contacting me shortly regarding the status. Also, you can mail the HR who contacted you in the first place to schedule an interview - they're usually very prompt while replying.

Pawan

Hey Pawan, thanks. Actually, I went to this career fair where I was interviewed more than once. I emailed them 2 weeks after I had the interview, and no response.. also.. I didnt ask when they would get back... my bad!

Also, Pawan, when did you interview..and how long has it been since your interview?
