Hi guys

Is anyone know what is the passing score for DB's numerical test? any verbal reasoning test after that?

Cheers

chrism2671

It's standard practice on these tests to take the top quartile as the pass mark. You should reasonably aiming for a mark of 70%+.

There's some info about the test, number of questions etc on the Deutsche Bank Interview Questions profile.

DeltaExchange

DB standard is very high, I know that they only select the top 10 per cent and that they use negative marking, thats why I never guessed an answer. Hence why I am at the AC stage now, although my AC seems to be forever delayed.

noob

if you pratice enough you will be fine! the example tests on here are good! psl is a little harder than shl in that it takes longer to do the calculations. i have done an shl test with 10 mins to spare whereas the last psl test i took, i completed with 2 seconds to spare. oh and also, the more you do, the more you'll see a repition in the questions + will automatically know the answer.

lobvot2

@ Bananas, out of interest, how many did u do?

DeltaExchange

@lobvot2, how many what did I do?

lobvot2

how many questions did you answer? I managed to do 15 and didnt get through

vivekrao

lobvot2,
i think it depends on the program..I applied for the HR program..
can u tel me like many days they take to reply after ww take the num test??

thanks,

Vivek

lobvot2

@ vivekrao

about 2-3 working days or so.... i did it on thurs and got my answer on a monday... meaning someone reviewed it before they got back in touch ...

i am a little late at this as I forgot to look at the DB deadline, does anyone know when is the closing date for applications? On the website I can only find it is closing in Nov but cannot find the specific date.

cheers!

vivekrao

lobvot2,
Did u pass the num test??
I just managed to ans 12 q correctly..
Do u thin i'll b successful..

lobvot2

@ vivekrao

i did 15 and was sure of about 12... didnt get it... im guessing if i'd failed it would have told me immediately... like it has been said already, it could be that they have diff cut offs for diff areas... where did you apply? i applied to ops

vivekrao

@lobvot2
I know it depends on the progrm u've applied..
I applied for hr..i think the cutoff wil b lower thn ops bcoz it not related to maths and calculations..its just hr..
May b i'll get a reply by tom..

I applied yesterday, had invitation for numerical today. Just completed it and failed it. Well i have not got result back yet but i know i did very bad. I have not failed a single numerical test and I have done for 15 companies but this one was hard or may be i was absent minded. :o(

rishman

I failed almost all shl ones, but managed to pass this deutsche bank one. got 1st round interview next tuesday :P

vivekrao

hey rishman,
congrats for gettin an interview..
how many days they took to get back to u??

@Maxi..
I dont know..still waiting for their reply..may be i'll call them..

Chrissy

hey just wondering if anyone has done the db and whether they give questions on debasing. I think i understand it...u go bak to the beginning? what other types of questions do they give is it more similar to the numerical test 1 or 2 of the 2 given on this website?

thank you

jlee1

i pass all shl but this one was diff.

Chrissy

Difficult? what kind of questions did it involve?

Alishiraz7

I have just had an opportunity to sit for Numerical Test for my application for a Summer Analyst role with Deutsche Bank; the test was fairly easy then I had initially thought (I found SHL lot harder than this PSL one). It is only the time factor involved and I am afraid I couldn't do more than 12 questions out of 20 in 20 minutes. I thought I should leave the unfinished qquestions rather than giving guess work which will have a negative impact if the answer goes wrong; which chances are that it will be wrong since the probablity is only 16% that my guess work will be correct because each question had 6 options.

But yeah those 12 questions I did them all correctly for sure. I am just waiting for the outcome. So far, I did one with Norwich Union and failed. One I had with Xerox but need to do a verbal one so don't know my results yet. I still got one more to do with Grant Thornton.. hopefully will do that tomorrow.... good luck everyone with all your tests/interviews/ACs.

Interesting reading these comments as I am AVP at Deutsche Bank - why do you want to work there?

IBD_Haunter

haha... hardon_always,
I am sure everyone on this forum wants to work at IBD, but not everyone can make it there!
since you are a AVP at DB, will be holding interviews then? any insights on how to impress?
I plan to apply as soon as the applications open!

hardon_always

Hi IBD_Haunter - how's it going? Well, I found it interesting reading the comments on this forum ... I'm in IT ... I've only interviewed experienced candidates (i.e with 5-10 years experience) and given technical interviews. I've never interviewed a grad ..... we just try to find the most exceptional/intelligent candidates - who have ..."A Passion to Perform"

IBD_Haunter

ahh... thanks for that!
I will be applying for IBD (Corporate Finance).
Will remember that "A Passion to Perform"!!!

hardon_always

OK - which location? I have met a few interns and graduate analysts - they're pretty bright and very eager to learn ... they usually rotate though the various divisions/depts

IBD_Haunter

London - IBD
I am interested in M&A Advisory and DCM, also got interest in TMT & FIG industries.

hardon_always

cool - best of luck! Best job I have had - but have to long hours - 50-60 hours/week ..be prepared to work w'ends ;-) ...

stas

@ hardon_always:

50-60 h/week are not too long. If you have to work 70-90 h/week that means tooo long :-))

Hi

I did may test for DB on 25 November but no reply yet. Is it a bad news? Anyone who did the test at the same period?

Minimonkey

Which division/location is that for?

tap

It is Finance in London. Are you in the same situation?

Minimonkey

No I am not, I had applied for Global Markets positions.

I believe you should contact HR.

tap

Did you hear anything back from the? when did you take the test?

Minimonkey

Application deadline was January 17th. Applied on the 9th.

Discussed with HR the fact that all vacancies had already been filled around the 21st.
Nonetheless invited to the numerical tests on the 23rd.
Spent the week-end tanning in Bali.

Came back and received the expected rejection email.

IBD_Haunter

anyone had any experience with first round IBD interview with DB??? wanna share your experience?

rheeda61

hey i had it recently, wasnt too bad.

how are the second round interviews?

IBD_Haunter

DB - IBD - Summer Analyst - First round is taking place today.

They are interviewing around 40+ candidates today!

andrewcm16

is deutsche paper test at the assessment centre psl (konexa) as well?
cheers

rheeda61

yeah it is
its 32 questions but there are 3 tables/graphs given with info rather than just 1.
i think its more about how accurate u answer rather than how much u actually do.
hope this helps

suparpal

Did anyone had any experience with first round IBD interview with DB, Technology division? Want to share your experience? What type of questions do they ask? any technical question or competency based question?
