credit suisse woes
Hi everyone
this morning I received an invitation to do the online testing for Credit Suisse, but to my surprise, the email sent to me had a different addressee. Never happened to me before, so what do you suggest I do?
it's really messy, messy :((
@ hazelground:
When did you apply? I have applied 29/9/2009 and still haven't heard anything back from them.
Thanks
@stas:
I sent my app on 13 October...a bit short, hence the irony of the email confusion...:)) let's see how it goes
how tough are the CS tests btw?
ok, good news
got another invitation to online testing, but this time with my name on it. Lucky!....
they responded within 3 hours, and that's something to appreciate ...
can someone tell me how difficult the verbal test for CS is?
So far I have only done the one for barclays...hence, i've got little experience with verbal tests.. any suggestions are much appreciated
thanks
@hazelground: the verbal test for CS is tougher than the standard SHL one. But it is still doable. you are given a passage, a statement and then it's true, false or cannot say. the tricky part is the vocabulary in the passage/statement is not as straightforward as the SHL one. on the whole, the verbal test for CS is easier than the math test. i couldn't finish the math test within the time limit.
I got invitation as well, But I am not ready for verbal.
anybody can share some hints?
I just took both tests and here are my views
1) the verbal test was indeed tougher than the shl one, with several questions very tricky, even now I am not sure whether I could do it better next time around... and the 18 minutes fly away like crazy !!!
2) the numerical test was by contrast really easy...i finished with several minutes to spare...
anyone knows how soon we get to hear the results and whether or not we are progressing to the next stage?
cheers
Do we have to make them one after another, or we can take time to have a break ?
Thanks for your feedback.
as far as i know, there is no choice of language, but i guess you will need to contact the graduate team if you want it for the numerical. for verbal, obviously there wont be a choice :))
yes, you can have a break in-between, but what i have noticed is that you can only take the practice test once and you cannot go back anymore to practise more, so make sure you do it properly the first time itself...
I took CS online tests on 21 oct and haven't heard back form them yet. Expecting to hear something in coming week.......
@hazelground, hey, I did the tests also on 31 oct. Please let us know if you get the feedback from them :) cheers !
i did them on 30 oct and i haven't heard anything either. i've read somewhere that feedback will be given after 20th nov (deadline). correct me if i am wrong. good luck to all :)
pumpkin28, thank you for your post ! "20 nov"! still long time to wait ...
... i m confused ... why someone else has got interview already ???
well, maybe it depends on the division we applied for ...
hi pumpkin28, i just read some discussion from one of the Credit Suisse Forum Posts on this web. me too, it seems cs recruitment process depends on country maybe division too ... I will definitely let you know if there is any progress on my side ! let us be patient.
no i m not in the UK. Just submit my visa yesterday. Hope it worth ...
hi all
I have taken my online test more than 2 weeks ago and havent heard from credit suisse since ..application status say "in progress". I have applied for technical role has anybody got any interview with them could you please share any info u might have. Appreciate ur input.
Thanks
did not heard from them neither ... but applied for another position and got another invitation for the online test ... still wondering if i should take twice ...
@20bepositive09
how many positions have you applied for? I took the CS tests long time ago, perhaps about 2-3 weeks ago and nothing yet... someone was saying on this forum that CS is waiting until deadlines to send invites to AC...
anyone got such an invitation already?
cheers ~~~hazelground
@hazelground
I have applied for two not the same day. their careers website is updated quite often ... i did my test 30 oct. have heard from them since ...
I will let you know if there is any news.
cheers

hey hav my AC fr IT dept in singapore tomm seems thhey r hiringq quite a bit here
Has anyone heard from the UK credit suisse branch at all for IT? Anyone for first round interviews or Assessment Centres?
I've had absolutely nothing.
@tommy_86
heard from someone in the graduate recruitment office today that they'll be 'reviewing applications shortly'.. my application still says in progress..
I am in the same boat as you tommy_86....have completed the online test ages ago and since then its been dead quiet
Same here, I completed the test probably more than a month ago now, and have not heard anything.
Actually thats not true, I got another invite to the test, which I emailed them about saying I had already done it. They replied saying it was an error and that they have my scores - and the dreaded confirmation that my application is 'under review'. Probably lost in some kafkaesque maze of corridors and bureaucratic desks.
So I got an email on friday inviting me to an assessment centre on thursday 19th november! 3 interviews (with technical and non-technical questions) and a group assessment.. I applied for both IT technical and non technical roles.
Does anyone who's already attended an AC have any advice for the IT graduate interviews?
Any advice would be brilliant! thank you :)
@oli_f, congras !!! My application status is still "in progress" ... When did you apply for the role ? grad or industrial placement ? when did you complete the tests ? Thank you for the reply. Good luck with AC !
I completed my tests long long time ago. On mid October I think. Still no response. Anyone knows why?
hey 20BePositive09! I completed my application october 25th, did the numeracy and verbal tests on the 27th and got my invite on friday last week... I attended one of the IT open days in october so they already had my CV and i'm wondering if thats why i didn't have a phone interview?! I applied for the grad placements, both tech and non-tech.. my application online still says 'in progress' though! I'm sure they'll be in touch with you soon! they do say it could take up to 4 weeks after the application deadline to get back to applicants.
Good luck with it and i'll let you know how the AC goes!
If anyone has any hints on the kinds of questions you get asked that would be great! thank you
Hi Guys,
Can anyone forward me the details of Credit Suisse Graduate Recruitment?
Cheers
Johnny, you can find all the information on their website. https://www.credit-suisse.com/careers/en/
can anyone help me i have assessment next week for technical analyst.what does that consist of?
@oli_f
i have an assessment next week and have applyed for the technical analyst role, any tip?and what sort of technical questions do they ask?
@ oli_f what role did you apply for? I also have an A/C next week, any tips? All i've been told is that its 3 one on one interviews and a group exercise. any info would be great.
thanks
hey congrats ....could you share your experience of the assesment centre with us .
Congratulations to you guys who made it to the final AC!!! I am having my AC at Credit Suisse for graduate technical IT role next week but don't really know what to expect and prepare:( Could you please anyone who had been there give me some hints? Thanks sooooooooooooooooo much!!!
Bingshu
hey i have mine next week as well for the same role. when is yours?
Hi tradermaker mine is on Tuesday next week. How about yours? Maybe we'll meet each other then:)
Bingshu
seems everyone is busy with their interview. my friend was invited for summer' interview. I was told db, barclays started their summer intern interview also ... grad recruitment finished already ???
Anyone know what's going on with Grad trading?? Still havent heard anything. Has anyone else?
Hey Guys ! I am pretty confused about where we are at this point on the recruitment at CS.
I have applied, and taken both verbal and numeracy test (3 weeks ago). Since then nothing !
1/ Where people invited to their premises ? 2/ Would so have their phone number so that I can contact them ?? Many thanks guys !
Butters,
Go with the gut,
In your heart you'll know what one you want already, you probably just dont want to admit it to yourself!
I'm sure you'll have one which you feel better about, more comfortable with. If you are still unsure give the recruitment depts a phone and tell them your concerns - see what they say. They'll be able to give you advice and maybe even help with finding accomodation etc (Find some places have intrawebs which can locate flat/roommates which may help). If you have offers, you are definately entitles to ask where job can take you what experiences you can gain and where you could potentially be in 10 years. This should definately help.
Whilst the DC job may seem like the easy option, the experience you would get moving to NY would set you in excellent stead in the future. Relocating develops a lot of your skills, communication, felxibility, adaptability, confidence, independence etc. Employers find these highly attractive. Research the possibilities that NY offers you more, I think you will be more at ease when you learn more.
Ultimately however you need to make a choice, but when you do make sure you know in your head and feel in your heart it is the right one, so that in the future you dont look back and regret your decision as it was right for you at the time.
And remember, having two offers to decide between is a good problem to have, a lot of people would love to be in that position!
Lil. x
LilShorty, best advice I think anyone with multiple offers could get! Agree 100%
Hi Guys,
I had some queries regarding CS application process in America.I have applied for multiple positions in CS where my applications status says:(1)In Progress(This is for one position) (2)You will be contacted shortly(This is for two different positions).Could someone please help me understand what does this mean.Any help would be appreciated.
hi everyone
hope you have a merry christmas and enjoying the holidays...
one question regarding CS summer internship - is it ok to submit more than one application? I have read that CS allows up to 3 applications, right? Now, if you do apply for 3 different business areas, can this negatively impact your standing as a candidate? you know, grad recruitment may think you're not really focused on one thing, and stuff...
can someone shed light on this one?
many thanks...
Hi Ab123, Have you been contacted since ? my status says: One is still in progress since 2 months; one is "thank you for your interest" and another one "you will be contacted shortly" ... since more than one month.
in my case "thank you for interest" was put up after rejecting through email. And just before rejection came "you will be contacted shortly".
So Credit Suisse is the best bank of 2009 according to IFR and they are happily advertising/emailing their acheivement. Only if their HR was as good; I can't even remember if I have applied for internships with them! Anyways, hopefully the latest news will increase headcount for 2010 internships and we will hear back one day soon.
@ husch
i applied for FT Grad. Finance (rejected/cancelled) IBD (progress) Non Tech IT (progress)
@ akoo It seems they didn't started their IBD fl time recruitment.
Applied for Finance summer intern. Three weeks ago, someone tried to call me. When i called back, there was an automatic response saying "this is an invalid number owned by credit suisse" (i know that sounds weird). Since then, I haven't heard anything, status is still "in progress". Their application processes seem to be from the 19th century... I don't care, I got an other, at least even interesting, offer...
i spoke with Credit Suisse HR in London. They said that they will start contacting successful applicants in January for interviews. Just from the looks of it, nothing so far.
this is for IBD - London - Fulltime.
hej guys,
i applied for the internship on the last day of the applications. and immediately they called me to solve numerical and verbal test. 1- do we have to complete these 2 tests back to back? i mean that may i complete them on the different dates? 2- what is d difficulty level of the verbal part? do u have any resources to have a look? or any sample question you may present me?
since it ll be the first time i m gonna solve verbal test, i am quite confused. thank u for help :)
yes you can first complete the verbal part if you like. furthermore, the test gives sample questions before the 'real' ones, you can try those first.
cheers
From what I remember, the tests' structure incentives taking both straight at the same time but you have no obligation to do so.
However, I guess you'd better not delay that too much since they have already started reviewing applications that are complete.
I found Credit Suisse verbal to be quite tough, but passed.
I submitted my last (3rd)application to CS for summer intern on the 11th hour. Literally..
got invited to do the tests again. I have done them already sometime ago.
Anyone had the same problem?
emailed them .. didn't get a reply yet.
yeah, I think all of us got invited for the tests twice. Apparently, its a bug in their system.
so do we just ignore it? or have another crack as practice?
coz it does explicitly mention we only need to do it once..?
when you go on to do it again, you will see that you have already done it. So, you cant access the tests coz you have already submitted it once. Atleast that's the way in my case.
you are right, unless I want to sign in with another email again i mean re-register. I think
..
oh well, I ain't holding my breath although CS would be my no 1.
I wasn't invited to do the tests again!!! Probably this is not a good sign for me :-((
anyone heard back yet? got rejected to Asia pacific FT in November but submitted 2 other intern apps for UK 2 weeks ago...
on the TSR forum, some people are saying that CS has had ACs for IBD!!!!
Guys
I recently heard that CS is facing a $24billion lawsuit in the US. That is quiet a hefty amount to pay under any circumstances and especially given their revenue was 9.8 CHF billion in 2008 (concede the fact that probably not the best year to gauge with).
Not for an instance am I saying that they will pay the amount quoted above but still an alarming number. CS is accused of issuing loans based on inflated appraisals so it could take over the resorts when the debts couldn’t be repaid. More importantly, if CS lose the case it could create negative publicity, which never helps any bank.
won't be surprise if they are not hiring, If we were the bank's management, in such desperate times, when our bonuses are cut 30% thanks to Mr Brown, and all eyes are on OhhhBamma,
should we spend money hiring and training interns so we can hire them next fall? or do we just pick those thousands of experienced analysts who got the chop due to the credit crunch, who are now floating around.
Simple supply and demand. Then again I think i read somewhere on the forum at least someone getting called up.
Well fingers crossed..
FT Analyst - IBD - London - havent heard anything so far!!!!!!!
Hi guys, I heard a rumour that CS gonna recruit in big numbers this year and they might start assessments by the end of Jan.
Hi all,
Has anybody heard anything about FT Associates in IBD? I have heard nothing....
i know they've got 65 places on the technology grad programme this year - double than last years intake(split between technical and non technical).. non-tech places already got filled before december last year and they're still holding AC's for tech places..
hopefully they are really hiring.. im still waiting for their reply...
I wrote an email questioning the delay in the application but she said "they are still in the final stages deciding on the the number of in takes for this year". This is quite worrying as ppl have posted their experiences of AC on this site.
the other thing that can cause delays in inviting for AC's is the availability of space to hold them as well as the availability of the interviewing managers.. always something to keep in mind
Hi people! Applied for IB summer analyst last november after attending a recrtuiting event and still no answer. Anyway, they told us that they would start contacting people mid January... So maybe we have still a chance!

Hi guys,
I just looked at my application status and it says I will be contacted shortly...has anyone elses status gone like this? I am applying for IB in London and Fixed Income Analyst in Singapore.
Thanks,
Vicki
Hi Vicki
Yes, I had that before I got the rejection email. Regards
@g-host
What programs did you apply to?
Did anyone receive news for London SA Internships?
@ v_l_rutherford
When did you submit your app for IBD London SI?
CS has sent out interview invites for Fixed Income S&T - Fulltime. Dont know about other divisions.
Hi guys, I got a rejection from Fixed Income Singapore after it came up 'you will be contacted shortly' so if you get that message its going to be a rejection. I applied for IB London in October! They take ages to come back to you it seems! It still says 'in progress' for that application so I am guessing they havent got round to looking at IB yet. Although i am not holding my breath that I will get an interview.
Good luck everyone!
I just checked my profile on Credit Suisse recruitment. I could no longer find my applications and Cv/ Covering letter. Strange...
You have to choose :"view all applications" and not only last months applications.
Hi all,
Did anyone start hearing back from CS SA? Both of my applications are still "In progress".
Thx,
Still nothing for me for SA. I spoke to hour 2 weeks ago and they said I would hear within 3 weeks
I received a call from CS last week inviting me to final round for FI Research FX Strategy in London, they told me they are recruiting on an ad hoc basis, i applied to them in early october and heard nothing from them since last week!

They are still reviewing applications for London based summer internships.
Anyone called/received rejection yet?
For --- IBD Full-time Analyst - London.
Just got off the phone with Credit Suisse HR. Here is what they said -
They are still reviewing applications, we should hear back in the next couple of weeks. They haven't held any first round/AC for IBD yet. The first round interviews are most likely to take place in end of February. They are very sorry for the delay.
That is what she told me!
Thank you for the update Haunter.
If they haven't started FT, I guess we can wait for SA...
Same speech on my side from different contacts in IBD/Derivatives and from Graduate HR.
Wait and see
I guess, they are just waiting to see how much the market gets better/worse - that is whether to do a huge recruitment or do a conservative recruitment since they reduced the headcount in their London IBD only less than a year ago....
nope, the only thing i heard back was a survey form.
But I have heard people being called up for internships by CS, don't know which division though.
They havent answered back for a grad FT position! Im not holding by breath though
I got a call from HR on thursday, but as I was in the train I couldn't hear her. The only thing I heard was, she asked if I could talk. Then I lost the line and since I haven't heard back.
I applied for both industrial placement and full time but I think the call was for the industrial placement because I'm guessing that they are done with full time at this point. They didn't call back and I find it really hard to get in touch with their HR. BTW do you have an idea about Credit Suisse pay range?
hey Baba, i got a call today from credit-suisse hr for industrial placement in technology as well (6 months) she said that they're gonna start sending details for first round invites later this week
Has anyone who applied for summer analyst positions heard anything? I sent them an email and it has fallen on deaf ears!
egoneo,
Yeah they called me today as well and it looked like if she was taking me for an interview right away, as she was trying to get hold of my CV on the system while we where discussing. But, after a quick chat we her I decided to withdraw my application as she said that I'm being considered just for the industrial placement. So, I'm out now for Credit Suisse.
I never heard from them after submiting my apps fo summer intern .. anyone heard back?
Yeah, haven't heard from them either after applying for a summer intern position last year. Cant even navigate my way round their appalling applications section to withdraw my application now, after having other better offers!
Cannot believe how bad their entire recruitment process seems to be compared to other banks!! :-(
Yea it's pretty annoying. You have to view current applications and select made within last year if you want to access it
I have decided to write off CS and focus on other companies to be honest. I applied in October 2009 and have heard nothing since. I have sat the online tests, but then did not get a response after they were submitted. If the places are now filled, I think they should at least email all of the applicants and tell us. Rather than having us all waiting and wondering if they will be contacting us today, tomorrow etc. I really wanted to work for CS, but now i have accepted that i will not be contacted. I applied for FT IBD London.
Good luck to anyone who does get a response!
Same here - wouldn't have minded working for them but the sheer chaos that is their recruitment process has totally put me off as well! I mean, it cant be that difficult to just tell people what's going on, can it?? Other banks seem to manage just fine...
Anyways, yes, have written them off too. If only I could actually withdraw my damn application! :-(
Good luck to everyone waiting on them though!
Had people in CS over the phone last week.
First, their recruitment is very division-specific. There is one recruiter for each division and not all divisions have the same pace/timeframe/deadlines.
If I understood well, it seems several interviews and offers were already made for their IBD department. Some people I discussed with had interviewed candidates.
I applied in Fixed Income Research, a division for which they are currently interviewing. I have been included in the review process, will get you updated on the interview itself.
Is it me or recruitment in Europe is becoming more and more like in the US, very political and network dependent?
I have never seen such incompetent recruitment in my life! How can u apply in october for a FT position and never hear anything back in February? I attended many of their events, networked, did a good application etc.. basically spent a lot of time and effort, at the very least we should get an answer. Im done waiting, i moved on.

@ ciubix
hi mate..did you get CS HR number. could you pls PM me as well.
CS FT recruitment is hopeless this year.
Patrick Bateman: I'm into Murders and Executions!
could somone pm me the number for CS hr? Preferably one which connects me to a real person! Thanks.
just to update you guys who are waiting for the following role
- Full-Time Analyst - IBD - London
The HR at CS has just received (last week) the FT recruitment requirements of IBD for this year. Therefore, the CVs of those who applied (and havent received any rejection yet) has been sent to the business for screening. So, successful applicants will be contacted in the next couple of weeks for first round interviews.
CS has not done any FT recruitment for IBD this year yet, and will be starting very soon. I do not have any figure about the headcount they are looking for.
Has any one heard anything from CS with regard to FT Global Markets (Trading in particular)??
I'm yet to hear anything and was wondering if others were in the same position.
Many Thanks, Dave

Contact grad team. they are quick to answer at CS.
