credit suisse woes

Hi everyone

this morning I received an invitation to do the online testing for Credit Suisse, but to my surprise, the email sent to me had a different
addressee. Never happened to me before, so what do you suggest I do?

it's really messy, messy :((

Husch

Contact grad team. they are quick to answer at CS.

stas

@ hazelground:

When did you apply? I have applied 29/9/2009 and still haven't heard anything back from them.

Thanks

hazelground

@stas:

I sent my app on 13 October...a bit short, hence the irony of the email confusion...:)) let's see how it goes

how tough are the CS tests btw?

hazelground

ok, good news

got another invitation to online testing, but this time with my name on it. Lucky!....

they responded within 3 hours, and that's something to appreciate ...

hazelground

can someone tell me how difficult the verbal test for CS is?

So far I have only done the one for barclays...hence, i've got little experience with verbal tests..
any suggestions are much appreciated

thanks

ambaey

@hazelground: the verbal test for CS is tougher than the standard SHL one. But it is still doable. you are given a passage, a statement and then it's true, false or cannot say. the tricky part is the vocabulary in the passage/statement is not as straightforward as the SHL one. on the whole, the verbal test for CS is easier than the math test. i couldn't finish the math test within the time limit.

ivyzhou

I got invitation as well, But I am not ready for verbal.

anybody can share some hints?

hazelground

I just took both tests and here are my views

1) the verbal test was indeed tougher than the shl one, with several questions very tricky, even now I am not sure whether I could do it better next time around... and the 18 minutes fly away like crazy !!!

2) the numerical test was by contrast really easy...i finished with several minutes to spare...

anyone knows how soon we get to hear the results and whether or not we are progressing to the next stage?

cheers

Husch

Can you choose the language as for BarCap ?
Thanks.

Husch

Do we have to make them one after another, or we can take time to have a break ?

Thanks for your feedback.

hazelground

as far as i know, there is no choice of language, but i guess you will need to contact the graduate team if you want it for the numerical.
for verbal, obviously there wont be a choice :))

yes, you can have a break in-between, but what i have noticed is that you can only take the practice test once and you cannot go back anymore to practise more, so make sure you do it properly the first time itself...

browncargos

I took CS online tests on 21 oct and haven't heard back form them yet.
Expecting to hear something in coming week.......

20BePositive09

@hazelground, hey, I did the tests also on 31 oct. Please let us know if you get the feedback from them :) cheers !

tommy_86

Has anyone heard from the UK credit suisse branch at all for IT? Anyone for first round interviews or Assessment Centres?

I've had absolutely nothing.

oli_f

@tommy_86

heard from someone in the graduate recruitment office today that they'll be 'reviewing applications shortly'.. my application still says in progress..

tjadeja

I am in the same boat as you tommy_86....have completed the online test ages ago and since then its been dead quiet

20BePositive09

@oli_f, thank you for the information ! cheers.

bobjim

Same here, I completed the test probably more than a month ago now, and have not heard anything.

Actually thats not true, I got another invite to the test, which I emailed them about saying I had already done it. They replied saying it was an error and that they have my scores - and the dreaded confirmation that my application is 'under review'. Probably lost in some kafkaesque maze of corridors and bureaucratic desks.

oli_f

So I got an email on friday inviting me to an assessment centre on thursday 19th november! 3 interviews (with technical and non-technical questions) and a group assessment.. I applied for both IT technical and non technical roles.

Does anyone who's already attended an AC have any advice for the IT graduate interviews?

Any advice would be brilliant! thank you :)

20BePositive09

@oli_f, congras !!! My application status is still "in progress" ... When did you apply for the role ? grad or industrial placement ? when did you complete the tests ? Thank you for the reply. Good luck with AC !

fishwry

I completed my tests long long time ago. On mid October I think. Still no response. Anyone knows why?

oli_f

hey 20BePositive09! I completed my application october 25th, did the numeracy and verbal tests on the 27th and got my invite on friday last week... I attended one of the IT open days in october so they already had my CV and i'm wondering if thats why i didn't have a phone interview?! I applied for the grad placements, both tech and non-tech.. my application online still says 'in progress' though! I'm sure they'll be in touch with you soon! they do say it could take up to 4 weeks after the application deadline to get back to applicants.

Good luck with it and i'll let you know how the AC goes!

If anyone has any hints on the kinds of questions you get asked that would be great! thank you

20BePositive09

Thank you :) and good luck with AC !

Hey Guys !
I am pretty confused about where we are at this point on the recruitment at CS.

I have applied, and taken both verbal and numeracy test (3 weeks ago). Since then nothing !

1/ Where people invited to their premises ?
2/ Would so have their phone number so that I can contact them ?? Many thanks guys !

Butters,

Go with the gut,

In your heart you'll know what one you want already, you probably just dont want to admit it to yourself!

I'm sure you'll have one which you feel better about, more comfortable with. If you are still unsure give the recruitment depts a phone and tell them your concerns - see what they say. They'll be able to give you advice and maybe even help with finding accomodation etc (Find some places have intrawebs which can locate flat/roommates which may help). If you have offers, you are definately entitles to ask where job can take you what experiences you can gain and where you could potentially be in 10 years. This should definately help.

Whilst the DC job may seem like the easy option, the experience you would get moving to NY would set you in excellent stead in the future. Relocating develops a lot of your skills, communication, felxibility, adaptability, confidence, independence etc. Employers find these highly attractive. Research the possibilities that NY offers you more, I think you will be more at ease when you learn more.

Ultimately however you need to make a choice, but when you do make sure you know in your head and feel in your heart it is the right one, so that in the future you dont look back and regret your decision as it was right for you at the time.

And remember, having two offers to decide between is a good problem to have, a lot of people would love to be in that position!
