I got my verbal test right after the numerical. You can phone the graduate recruitment helpline and ask if they have recieved the results of your 2nd attempt. Good luck!

By the way, mind if I ask you if any of your friends have received their application outcomes since both tests? If so, how long after the tests please?

As you can see our wiki profile on Credit Suisse is rather lacking. If you guys get to interview could you help us by contributing some information? It would be massively appreciated!

For ppl who successfully completed the tests, it says "Application under review", i guess they would wait until the last date before sending out invites for interviews...but not sure though !

I wouldn't worry too much. If you don't hear back after 3 or 4 days, just give them a call and ask them. No doubt they'll tell you to keep waiting, but they won't mind you asking.

I just took CS numerical reasoning test. My feeling was bad since I got stuck at some questions and finally had to guess. But I immediately receive the invite of verbal test. I was not informed my numerical test result (no email receive.). I am wondering whether they assess numerical and verbal together?

They assess results of both tests, along with your application form, before inviting you to an interview (or not). Passing those tests are mandatory but cannot guarantee your an interview.

I suspect CS is in a hiring freeze though.

hey guys, i just finished both tests. had some problems receiving my results for numerical test at first. thought i had to redo the test. after about 4 business days, they sent me an email and told me i passed. then i was on to the verbal reasoning test. completed that too, but now "under review". not sure if my post needs to go thru assessment center. i applied for IT...

Did my numerical test and missed quite a few questions! Somehow I had convinced myself that I could not skip questions --- very odd since I skipped all the time when I did practice tests and read the instructions before taking the test; test stress i guess. Got invited to sit for the verbal immediately though. Does this mean I had passed the numerical?

Update guys !!! I got rejected !!! REASON : " I have not passed the online tests ", it is completely ridiculous as the application status was "under review" for over a month. And just after the deadline date, they say you are rejected.

so i have sent out an email to find out...not sure how long that takes though...
in a way, i think they should have told you immediately that you didn't pass the tests, i'm sure those answers were marked instantly once they were submitted...

However, I just received an email that there were technical issues with the tests and that I have to take them again :-(

Just wanted to ask you the same question. I applied to the analyst investment banking division and got an invite for numerical test. Howver, I ended up having less time and had to guess some answers. Howver, afterwards I got an invite for verbal test immediately, does it ean I passed numerical test? I know someone who gave the test and is getting status as application under review...so does it mean he has failed?

I am applying to summer intern 2009 and I got an invitation straight after submitting the application.
You should definitely call them cause I think if u don't take tests before the deadline u'll be kicked out.

It took them more than 2 months to get back to me after I completed numerical and verbal tests. My application was rejected and the reason is the same as COOLDUDEHERE70 mentioned earlier: "Failed Online Tests". It is so ridiculous because I finished both tests with 2-3 minutes left and was quite sure about the correctness of majority questions...

i have been waiting over two months to hear about my application...I received an email about a week ago saying that it was still under consideration, did anyone get the same email? I fear that credit suisse may have finalised it Graduate intake and now concentrating on the Internship 2009 intake!!

Took them 3 weeks from my application to get invited to do online tests (numerical and verbal). Did them on them on the 5th and have heard nothing so far.

Cover letter was approx 500 words.

Hey, I also applied in the week of Sept 23rd and received the invites to take the online tests yesterday. Verbal went well, I had time left over to check my answers and as far as the numerical goes, I missed 3-4 questions but am quite confident that I answered most of the other ones correctly.

I went back online today after submitting the tests, and noticed that the status messages had changed for the three positions I applied for. Two of them said "in progress" and one of them said "you will be contacted shortly"

Yes it's true/false/cannot tell. The CS numerical and verbal is pretty hard. And the statements are very difficult to interpret from also. Good luck. Are you not doing numerical before verbal by the way?

It's standard PSL (not SHL) Tests. If you are comfortable with them, then you'll be fine.

thanks for the insight, good luck to you guys as well. yeah, i'll be doing the numerical first, just got the email this morning and wanted to check the testing style beforehand. judging by some posts here, i sure hope i won't be prompted to the verbal part in sense that it won't be required for the position. Personally, I find SHL standard easier... I pased Barclay's numerical but failed the verbal :(( The time wasn't enough and yes, it was difficult to make sense of the statements given the options are so elusive.

I just did the online tests for CS today.
Found the math test by Kenexa more challenging than SHL (which is used by barcap and RBS).
Left 3 questions blank for the math.

Verbal was manageable but again, it was more challenging than SHL.

Status for my applications after the tests- "in progress".
Applied to FICC Sales in Singapore- anyone else in Singapore has any updates on their CS applications?

Did the tests today - for a reason unknown I was prompted to do the verbal first. And I thought that depending on the results of the test I'd either be progressed to do the numerical or not. But apparently you have to take them both at once (woulda been easier to know after the first exam whether or not I've made the cut). Applications say "in progress" (not quite sure what it said before though...).
For anyone who's taken the test and saw a change in their application status to be contacted shortly, how long did it take for that to happen?? And will they wait until the deadline to send rejections?

hi guys, in my case, I've been invited to the test but there was no ID so I asked it by email. The answer is I wont be asked to take a test for the position I applied to (=investment banking analyst) and my application is under review. Is this positive or very negative, I mean the invitation is mistakenly sent out? I hope it is not,,,.

if it is PSL, go to http://www.psl.co.uk/practice/
also, I find the practice tests on efinancialcareers website quite helpful

try to practise these tests in a timed environment as it helps you with the actual test..

also, from experience, i would say, dont push yourself to finish all questions, if there 20 Qs in total, make sure you use the time to answer about 15-16 as accurately as you can, and then make a wise guess for the rest. This is what I usually do and it seems to work out for me.

I applied for two postions and they both have different application numbers. The email for invite to tests says "the applicant ID is unique and specific to profile and it's same for all the positions you apply". Dont know what to do :(((((((((((

@IBD : i would choose the role u like most out the two, and use that ID.

Then send them an email saying ive used this ID which was for role XXX.

Im sure its one test for all 3 roles you can/would apply for.

Email them FIRST if you feel unsure.

I received the test invite for Credit Suisse and did the tests, a week later, I received the same invite again! So, I sent them an email, and this is what they replied.

Dear IBD_Haunterr,

Please ignore the second online assessment invite, we have already received your Online Assessment scores. Your campus recruiter will contact you shortly for the further proceedings.

well guys what is application ID for CS online test? Does the email after submission of apllication clearly specify this is the applicant ID for you or it's just the application number followed by 'emea' followed by position you applied for????- This is sent in the confirmation email when you submit your application. I sent email to grad recruitment about the problem but no response yet

app ID is the same as your candidate ID.

When you receive the invitation to do online testing, it should be mentioned in the content of the email.
You can check whether it is the same number as the one in the app acknowledgment sent to you by CS upon ur submission.

i think verbal is quite hard for ppl not having english as mother language. there are 8 articles to read, longer and more difficult than articles in SHL, three questions for each article, 18 mins to finish all questions.

the numerical is soso, about 20 mins to finish 20 questions.

there is no language choice, you can take one test and save the other for later. verbal first, numerical comes second.

I recently applied for CS IBD full-time analyst position. I was asked to take the test on the 10/21, which was about two weeks after my application was submitted. For whoever is taking the tests soon, make sure you have NO distractions. Verbal is not too bad, but it involves more interpretation than the examples you can take online. The numerical one threw me off and I had to guess on the last two questions. Definitely do practice questions ahead of time. Anyways, now my app status is 'in progress.' For those of you who also took the tests recently, can you let me know if your status changes at all. I'll do the same.

I just did the tests. i found the verbal pretty tough but the numerical was pretty decent. i'm quite concerned about the scores and mailed campus recruit about. not too sure if they'll reply to it though.

i was an intern at CS last year and the application to the HK office was alot simpler. just resume and cover letter. then came the interviews and the offer. applied to emea this time since the asia pac campus recruiter said i would be considered for the asia pac roles by default.

cs has a culture of making offers to its interns first and then recruiting outside. i really wonder how it will go for alot of us given that they were on a hiring freeze and no interns got offers at the end of their internship. at least this was the case in HK.

not really, or quite few were rejected after tests...in fact, there is a widespread view that CS does not bother to even reject you,
they will just keep your app hanging...that's why I've heard..

what did you apply for? grad or internship?

Just did the online tests for a Full-time Associate role. There were 3 tests. 1st test was a competency questionnaire with 36 questions where you had unlimited time to answer all questions. I hate these as I think every one is suitable for me. 2nd test was a verbal reasoning test with true, false, can't answer. You have 49 questions to answer in 12 minutes. The data is all contained in 6 tabbed pages so you have to tab between the pages to find the suitable paragraph to answer the statement. 3rd test was a rules and interrelations test using 3x3 matrices with letters and numbers and had 12 questions in 12 minutes. The 3rd test was really hard! You can choose your language for each of the tests but I didn't look to see what language choices there were.

Suprisingly, you get a report at the end saying how you did versus the competencies sought by CS. Given my result spread I don't think I will be going through to the next round :-(

I took the tests for a role in Switzerland. From what I can make out CS in Switzerland seem to be a seperate entity from CS EMEA for business and HR purposes. Additionally CS Switzerland uses a different test provider (Cut-E) than EMEA (Kenaxa) for its online assessments.

The EMEA tests I have been invited for today are for an IBD role based in London.

Good luck today :) I thought the actual tests were much more difficult than the practice ones. They are all doable, just difficult within the time frame. If you don't even know where to start I would suggest skipping and making sure the ones you do know are 100% correct.

Just I finished the verbal & numerical tests. I felt CS's numerical the most difficult.
Their questions in English seem to sound less clear to non English speaker, compared to SHL.
I do not know the reason--. I passed Barclays but it wouldn't work for CS.

My status for the PB role has changed to 'You will be contacted shortly' from 'In progress'. I also did really badly on the matrices test. I found them really difficult and I am normally very good at these types of tests. So I don't know what all this means....are they going to contact me to tell me I did badly and won't be going forward or are they calling me to an interview? I guess I will know more this week.

I got an email from CS on Friday informing me not to sit the Kenaxa online tests so now I don't know if I am going forward in this process? It said that Associate roles in London don't sit the online tests .

Just rejected for IT (technical stream) London office!!

I have just finished Verbal/Numerical test.

I sailed through Verbal, finished with three minutes to spare but no real idea how I did. Some of the questions were very difficult to interpret I felt, others were more straight forward.

The numerical seemed to start off really easy, some real straight forward questions. Later on it got quite difficult, then the last two questions I answered seemed to be quite easy, I missed the last three due to time constraints.

Like everyone else my application says "in progress", I passed the Barcap tests (no auto rejection e-mail) but have not heard from them in over a week. I also haven't heard from JP, Goldman and a couple of others where I am currently "under review"... I guess it is still early perhaps, but you would have thought most of these places would want to get graduate recruiting out of the way before Christmas, so I am seeing it as a bad sign.

According to their website you only need to take one set of tests for all the applications you make, so if you have only been rejected for one and not the other I guess you can assume your test results were ok?

Unless they rejected you for one and are still deciding how your scores compare to others who have applied for that position..

You have to big up IBD though; he has a lot of inside information. You said in another forum this whole application process is knackering and I could not agree with you any more. I applied for CS full time analyst IBD programme, one week ago and got directly invited 2 days after.
But after ending the verbal and numerical test , my application status is still "completed test"...
I'm fear because it seems that nobody here have this kind of status...

Umm... After logging in to CS' Application System, I can see, under 'My Career Tools', that I have 1 application. However, after clicking on that link, it takes me to a page where it says:

    
    Display applications from:
    You have not submitted any Applications.

You have to refresh selecting all applications as the default option will only show applications made within the last week. But yeah, it is a bit weird...

hey matevoz, there's a drop down menu just above where it says that and says 'Display applications from:' and then the options are last week/last month/last 3 months/last year/all applications

Since you submitted your application over a week ago try changing it to within the last 3 months, or all applications - it should display them then!

I have the feeling they're waiting till everyone has completed the tests to invite people to the next stage.

I took the tests a long time ago and so far I haven't heard back...my application is still "in progress" when I log in. No word about whether I passed the tests or not...I wonder how much longer are they going to delay letting people know. I sure lost hope for anything happening this year...:(

um ... i was quite busy for my studies ... when i saw the email that they advice ppl to complete within 5 days .. but they aren't a specific deadline , I left my application for two weeks and just completed it today .

The careers one...you have to select the "All applications" option and it will show you the status of your application...mine says "in progress" for a very very long time.

I applied for the graduate programme for the guy who asked earlier, sorry I didn't reply.

My status has changed to "you will be contacted shortly" which seems a little strange, it means nothing to me. I will be contacted shortly, for rejection or for a telephone interview?! Why not just write that on the site?

I'm sure they have their reasons I guess, not very professional in my opinion, other banks I have interviewed with have been far more thorough and polite.

Mine says the same too.....so I asked what it means...CS HR told me that it means your application has now been pased to the functional teams where you applied for e.g. Ops, IBD etc. The teams then request you are invited for interview if they like your application. So 'You will be contacted shortly' means you have got past the Assessment Test but may or may not be called for interview!!!!!

I have applied on 28/9, done the both tests in the mid of october. Since then nothing heard back and the status is still "In Progress"...

Received three e-mails today (yes, three) to confirm my rejection, each ten minutes apart. I think I got the message now :D

Commiseration Tim. Did you apply for grad or internship? You can apply for upto three positions so you may want to apply for some other positions/internships which are still open. Just work on your CV and cover letter and make it role specific.

They sent me the email to sit the numericals and then emailed me saying not to do it as Associates don't sit the tests. I have called them about 2-3 times over the last few months....all they say is that it is under review and I will be contacted in due course. I am writing it off as a opportunity unless some other Wikijobbers can tell me they haven't heard anything either...if people have had interviews then I guess they didn't like me :-(

If they started calling other people up ONLY for EMEA FT IBD associate (i.e. the same department , location, and job as you) but not you, then if I were you I wouldnt keep hoping,

BUT if they haven't then it is fine, that means they haven't started processing it yet.

be realistic, if you get the call up it is a bonus, keep looking. Do everything possible on yourside with regards to CS. it is obvious you have and you take it seriously having called them 3 times.

I was wondering if anyone who have been to ACs or first round interviews got a chance to ask their interviewer the no. of applicants to openings ratio

I heard/well I read some consulting firms have like 5000 + applicants for 50 openings or less?

a ratio of 1:100 is not very good odds, plus I think it is fair to assume most of the 5000 who applied are pretty smart people compared to the general pop.

It is worse than that.....if you are not from a firm's target school you have basically zero chance of getting an interview. HR people do what everybody else does...they make life easy for themselves...if they have had successful candidates from Harvard, Oxford, LSE, LBS etc. in the past then why take a risk with hiring from the University of Nowhereville. They justify this by saying these are the best candidates as it is harder to get into these schools in the first place. A good logical agruement but unfortuante to excellent candidates who for whatever personal reasons could not afford or otherwise go to these schools.

rejection letter came from DB, I must say I was a bit surprised not to get called up. I expected to be rejected after first round or AC

I nailed all 20 questions, used up 20 mintues. I am 80% certain I got 18-19 right.

I am absolutely certain of only 1 mistake, (bummer)

I just finished reviewing my answers again without the time pressure...

Almost willing to bet my life that I couldnt have gotten less than 17 right.

Which leads to 3 possible explantion

1) I suck, CV suck, not good enough. enough said.

2) Everyone else did better than me in the numerical, oh dear! Do we have to nail 20 questions in 10 minutes or what?

3) I did the test late, I actually had to phone up for an extension coz I missed the the dateline, and only did the test on Monday!

anyway doesn't matter now, tough, better luck for me next time.

Ok, one down 9 to go! bring on the rejections!

My friend in CS told me some of the graduate programs were cancelled altogether and some were put on hold or delayed. Finance was one of those cancelled apparently, not sure about others. Just to let you guys know.

damn , wished I'd listened to my mum when she said "study hard" so you end up in the good university.

problem is I did well, I just chose NOT to go to a good uni.

Moral of the story, Always listen to your mum! they have an uncanning ability to be right.

It is an inductive, logical reasoning test. CS in Zurich use a German company called CUT-E for their testing. Look at the link to see an example.

Just took the numerical and verbal test for CS internship. Dont understimate the difficulty. It's funny how the make the example tests always easy and then the actual test is much more difficult. These tests dont tell much anyway! But HR seems to be a sophisticated science, in the believe that standard tests tell much a candiate, thumbs up!

However I was thinking by now the recruitment process would be over as the program is due to begin in September. Apparently, it seems the process is still on-going.

i completed some tests for IBM last week IPATO and I found them real hard but ive been offered a place at an assessment day so fingers crossed. I found the test tough and looked at lots of sites online but no luck unforyunately.

Regarding my application for a cs job in zurich I did the online assessment last week.
It was a verbal part without time-limit and a logical part with 12 questions in 12 minutes.
I failed in the second part and want to know, if anybody here has already done this 3x3 matrice test from cut-e.
