Citi First Round Interview - Investment Banking
Hey, you can send me a message if you need info - did the AC couple of weeks ago.
can somebody help me with the AC? Need more information about what kind of questions should I expect and what exactly was given on the group work and on the case study! thanks!
guys - can someone please notify me of how the AC is marked?????
i had my AC on Thursday - 1 of my interviews went really really well, another 1 was fairly decent, another 1 was okish...... my group exercise and presentation went well so i thought that was ok..
i'm normally right about how my interviews went when i get home - so based on this information - will i be eligible to recieve an offer from Citigroup?????
PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP!!!
Hi Has anyone had AC for IBD intern yet? Or is anyone doing it on Wed?
Hi I sent two apps one for ops grad and one for cmo intern. For cmo I did numerical and got the same mail... But I isn't get a numerical for ops grad... U think I should email them??
Got an email from them last week saying something like "we are still interested in your application. We are planning to hold ACs in Jan & Feb. But at this point we cannot tell you whether you will be invited to one of those"
This reply is after I did the numericals. In which stage of the process are you (you finished 1st round or telephone interview?) and Grad or intern? I am for grad.
@ browncargos ...
I also applied for OPS and got the email on 7th saying im "no hold".. but nothing since... =(((((
I applied to Citi Technology Grad Scheme way back in September (mid september) and received an invite for online tests a couple of weeks after my application. It wasn't until mid october until i was invited to a first round interview and then a further week until my invite to the assessment centre. It then took another 3 weeks or so for me to find out the outcome of the assessment . I then had another meeting/interview with one more manager at Citi which was much less formal. So for you guys who are waiting, this will give an indication of how long the process is, and not to get too worried if you are still waiting.
Regarding the first round interview, there was a confirmatory numerical test, and a diagramatic test which was very intensive, but I don't think they expect you to finish it. There was also 2 interviews.
The assessment centre was also intensive, but you feel comfortable throughout the day. It included 3 one on one interviews. There was also a report style activity where you had to write a report depending on the information you were given. You also have to do a presentation which is related to this report, and finally a group activity which again is linked to this report.
I hope this helps.
Unfortunately I don't usually come On wikijob too often, but if anyone needs more info they can send me a message and I will try and respond.
@RealKoblitz: yea, 11th Jan, so i gotta see u der! u also apply Risk, dont u? u have any ideas abt the interview in Jan? but we dont know many places are left : (
@solomon bro: i hope they r still taking more : (
@browncargos: now u r done with the test, hope they ll contact u soon for the interview, i was kept on hold for really long as well, so keep ur hope up!
merry xmas u guys x
Applied for Full time analyst Operations & tech-Generalist way back in Oct.... got numerical invite 3 days back... seems like they had kept my applicaiton on hold & now since they might have more places available so want to proceed with it... Anyone else in same situation..? Also, what is the next stage after a numerical..? Is it face to face or telephonic interview..?
I got the invite too. London on 11th Jan?
I met people who had done a Risk AC back in early Dec - must be more places available though!
Hi all, do you think if the banks haven't specified degree qualifications for interns, will they ever consider taking someone with a phd totally unrelated to hardcore financial services? im thinking of HR...that might be a way around it. Still some internship programmes do rule out grads or phds... XD Please can you guys advise me? thanks!
Probably the intake number will be more or less 10 in total. 5 for GIRM and 5 for Global Risk Track. However they held lots of AC's in december and spread offers ... Therefore, I don't know how many places left .
@solomon bro, hi, i applied for Grad - EMEA corporate functions - Full time Risk Management
grad or intern?
GIRM or Global Risk Track ?
hi u guys,
i applied to Grad Risk with Citi way back to Oct. did my test in Nov and was just invited for first round face to face interview in london in Jan 3 days ago. Any of u guys apply to Risk as well or any experience with risk interview? i also want to know how many intake they take this year?
any help is highly appreciated thanxx
I applied for Citi's Global Transaction Services full time analyst position..I recently had my online numerical test which i felt i did well..could anyone tell me how long does it take to get a reply after the test and what is the next stage..is it a telephonic interview or face to face interview? Has anyone applied for the same position and got a response yet??
Just call the the HR department and ask nicely. They won't say no to you, its how I find most of my information during my application process. Call their switchboard and ask for HR:)
I agree Ibd_haunter. Let's see what happens, finger X to get into the next round
(My personal opinion) I think, they are checking their headcount figures and if they have already given out offers for that position, then they are checking how many are accepting the offer. That is, they are waiting for see, how many more people they need to recruit for that role. That's what I think personally. Obviously, if they didn't like your application at all, then they would have rejected you straightaway, instead of putting you on hold.
you passes the test, but this does not seem to guarantee a place in the next round, unfortunately...
keep us posted..
I applied for IT full time Analyst program in London way back in sept, did the numerical test on 1st of Oct, and today I got this email. I dont know if I have passed the test. What do you guys reckon from this????? cheers
Thank you for completing the online numerical test. We are very interested in your application.
We are currently reviewing all strong applicants against our business requirements and have placed your application 'On Hold' during this process. We will contact you again shortly to confirm if you have been selected for the next stage of the recruiting process.
In the meantime, thank you for your patience and your continued interest in Citi.
CMO grad role. testing was a loooong time bak.
buddy i have a first round confirmed...except for the date. they r deciding with the guys from the business wen to hold...i was told most probably b4 christmas.
they have. I was told in a recent event at Citi...but they also mentioned there would be a few more ACs in december/january.. but no further info.
hey audrey . i applied for S&T summer intern , but haven;t got any reply. how about u ? Which divison did u apply to ?
@ Nerva10, Congrats! glad you made it through. i just got done submitting my numerical test for internship next summer; keeping my fingers crossed. Hope you have a blast @ citi and pls do keep us posted of your progress.
Does anyone know if Citi has started their first round of interviews for summer interns?
I can try to help with my limited knowledge. Its not always been a smooth road for me either, but every "no" you get, the closer to "yes" you get to I believe:) If you need to know something just PM me.
Having gone through the whole process with Citi full-time S&T analyst program, I can describe the process for those who are still in progress with the applications. After my numerical online test it took me about 10 days for them to invite me for the 1st round interviews + paper numerical test.
The paper numerical test as others said was SHL and fairly standard. Interviews were competency based. But if you meet one American guy, he might love to ask lots of brainteasers, which was the case for me.
It then took about 4 days for them to tell me I passed the 1st round and that they were going to put us to assessment centre. However they had to get a date set up first, which ended up being 3rd of December. I think we were one of the last assessment centres for the full time position in S&T. In total there were 15 candidates on Thursday, quite few from France and Germany.
The assessment centre consisted of written exercise, case study prepation/presentation for one assessor. There will be 3 competency interviews and then group exercise, where the original interviewers and the presentation assessor will all be assessing the candidates in the group exercise (5 candidates per group). (Edit: on a note when I say competency, it also means financial market knowledge and ability to discuss various hot issues.)
I was very fortunate to be offered the position yesterday evening and I consider myself very very lucky. I wish you all the best and remember to prepare for everything, including practice of writing reports.
yeah, it is shl ...nothing to worry about, just make sure you maintain speed throughout... well, i attended an event today at citi and again we were told that they had already given offers for CMO summer internships but then the recruitment would continue for some time. I dont know why, but I feel slightly suspicious about this info :) let's hope we all get invited to the AC . fingers x
Guys i have Citi CMO grad first round in due course(no confirm date as yet but probably before christmas). can any one suggest what to expect or could share their experience
Hi Hazelground, I got some news regarding summer internship CMO at Citi: I applied on 1st December and received the invitation to the numerical test this afternoon. This is quite strange, as I've applied to risk management more than a month ago and didn't hear anything - weirdo... @ all: is it standard shl?
like kay, i would like to know about that too.. as i havent heard from them since i completed my tests on the 20th of Nov!
can someone let me know if Citi have finished recruiting for ICG grads for 2010?
Hey does anyone know whether Citi CMO is done recruiting grads this year??
I called up the HR last week and she told me that they are still interviewing......... but has anyone got any info about whether they are done for the year?
@audreylee Thanks for the response. I got the reply from HR as printed below. He said it will take 3 business days. How did you get your test reset by 24 Hours. Can you tell me that you got the same response from them stating 3 working days and then got reply in 24Hrs?Dear Girish, I have contacted our technical support team regarding your issue and they will let us know if your score can be retrieved or if you will have to re-take the test.
It can take up to three working days for them to contact you, but please do not hesitate to contact me in the meantime, should you have any further queries.
Graduate Recruitment Team Citi
@girish1914, i encountered the exact same issue, i emailed HR and tech support straight away. in my case they got back to me within 24hrs- HR didnt mind as it was a technical issue. Tech will probably have to reset ur test again. Dont sweat it!
I got problem with online tests.
Yesterday night I took online tests and at the end of the exam when I click the finish button browser shows 404 error and exit. Whwn I tried to login immediatly the server couldn't reach. When I check this morning I still got "Invite to Online Tests" on my application and there is link to exam aswell.
Can someone plase advise me what steps do I need to take. I put a mail to email@example.com from where I got invitation from. I'm worried how much time do they take to get back to me. If anyone got contact details of HR please mail me(firstname.lastname@example.org) I will ring them to clarify next steps.
i applied for the ICG way back in September but have not heard anything. In October, I was told that my application is under review by business area and I thought that I would get an answer fairly quickly. Its been a month and a half now but still no updates. I emailed HR a few times but they keep coming back saying that my application is still under consideration....do you think it is worth expecting anything? is anyone else in the same boat?
@harsh, do keep us posted if u hear anything; im from UCL.
@VG1324, which scheme did u apply for? I've also applied for S&T, summer internship- just took the test today (encountered some tech issues) but was wondering how long it takes for them to get back- just wanted to get a rough proximate so that i dont have to linger around hoping to get an invite back!
I have a first round iview with Citi, S&T. Has anyone gone through that? What was it like, and how does it differ from the 2nd round?
I've applied for the Grad S&T programme in late Sept and did the test at the end of Oct but haven't heard back. Does anyone know what's going on or should I take this as a rejection? thanks for any help:)
it seems citi does take some time.. I applied on 8th Nov for the FT analyst institutional clients group.. and got an email asking me to take the test just yesterday... i.e. 17th.. so a good 9 days b4 they reply.. at least its not automated
I wonder if you can give me some information about Citi AC...
Thank you all,
A general comment for who completed the first round interviews...
It doesn't necessarily mean that you are rejected if you haven't heard in 2 days from Citi after the interviews... I've heard after 8 days from my interview which was positive... It really depends on their workload or other interviews or lots of other stuff...
@ reasoning - Citi HR is my source. There are gonna be two ACs for Risk Managament. One on 20th November. another in decemeber.
Where do you know that AC will be next Friday ?
call them up! they shouldnt take this long. the usual standard is 2 to 5 working days..... but i must say, since they havent gotten back to you yet, it might mean rejection
hey angela, (and all others who are wondering)
here is how Citi operates. > you send your application > the HR screen it > if you pass that screening, then you get invited to numerical test > you pass the test, then you application is screened by the business > if the business likes your application, then you get an interview invite.
However, the interview invite is only sent when the interview dates has been confirmed internally. May I ask, which division you applied to, and is it for Full-time or Summer Intern?? Based on that, I will be able to provide you with further information.
P.S. It took me 2 weeks (after my numerical test) to get invited to the first round interview at Citi. And when I went there, HR told me that I was one of first candidates that they are interviewing for the position this year, coz they just started interviewing.
Also, if you failed the test (hopefully not), then they might keep you hanging and not send the rejection. Anyway, like I said, let me know which division and FT or summer? and I can provide you will more info.
Thank you soo much IBD Haunter, that's very helpful~ Well i applied FT in Risk Management
hazelground, Thanks for that. Really annoying that they don't even tell you if you don't get through... Well let's keep fingers X :)
i dont think you will come to know at all unless you are invited to the next stage.
I did the tests last week and no reply yet.
hope it helps!
They make us worry!
Silence is worrying. AHHHH! :)
that's a long time, far too long for citi....but we dont know how different recruiting divisions operate... IBD may wait for the deadlines first before sending out tests....so dont worry too much at this moment :)
i applied on 6 september 2009 for IBD full time graduate.
when do they send the tests? it's been ages since i've submitted.
Dont they send emails of rejection then or they just keep applications hanging? I'm getting worried now...
What is up with CITI?
I applied to two positions in London for the EMEA Full-Time Graduate Program.
One was in the Corporate Division for Risk Management and the other in the Institutional Clients Group.
I applied on 13 September 2009, and within a month was rejected for the Risk Management Program.
My application still says Under Review for the Institutional Clients Group. It's been so long. What is going on?
Hi Aj! I'm in exactly the same situation, the difference is that it's been in September, I received the second email on the 18th. And the application is still under review. I guess in my situation it means unsuccessful and they just didn't change status. Although, I might be wrong. Anyway, good luck with yours.
Does anyone have HR contact details for Citi? I have applied for 'Full Time - Institutional Client Group - 2010 - London" programme on 6th October. They sent me two emails; 1st - notification of receiving application; 2nd - Thank you for your interest in Citi's Investment Banking division. We are reviewing your application and will contact you shortly to confirm if you have been selected for interview. The 2nd email was sent on the 16th and I have not heard anything since. I know they already had atleast one AC; so it is most likely my application is going nowhere. Could anyone advice me on what to do regarding this? Thank you.
i applied for full time though..
@hazelground i applied last thuursday....applied for Sales and Trading... hhav any idea about thhe recruuitment progress/?
when did you apply and what division?
Hey, anyone for Paris IBD? I have applied 2 weeks back, no replies yet..........
usually at citi, if you havent heard back within 1 day, then its a rejection. but usually you hear back within 3 working days.... that's for IBD, dunno about other division.
Dont think you should worry just yet cos they have a lot of apps to sort through.....if your anxious to know, give them a ring...
megaman, i had myfirst round at citi yesterday. i think i did pretty decent. they told us they would send an email out the next day with the outcome. they havent yet got back to me today. should i worry? how soon after your first round did you get invited to AC?
hey megaman, what do you mean by results? I completed my test and haven't heard anything yet. Does this mean I am unsuccessful?
No they don't - they just leave your application hanging there. They don't bother sending out rejection emails. I have no idea why!
will do thanks
@megaman: i applied on tuesday nigth, havent got a test yet? have you completed the test? i also applied to tech role.
thanks for sharing
Does anyone know anything about the diagrammatic test they are doing at the first round, I was told you can't prepare for them. If anyone could share any experiences that would be great.
i think the IT recruitment is different..... dont have much idea about that... sorry mate!
the technical questions completely depends on the interviewer, they dont have any particular structure to it. But mine were based on P/E ratios, DCF, Comps, precendence... etc... which is better? why? when are the better? what's the problems with them?
and what deal you read about? and I got specific questions on the deal.... I got grilled on the Cadbury/Kraft deal coz the associate interviewing me was actually working on that deal.... the other associate was working on the NatExpress deal... so got a bit on that too..... but then again, they dont have any structure for technical questions..... some people I know were even asked any technical questions at all......
Has anyone heard from Citi for Technology? I applied to them last month and was asked to submit further information which I did but I still have not heard from them and it still says "Application Under Review."Anyone heard anything for Technology?
www.citi.gtios.com Have a look on there.
I have a problem. I could not find Investment Banking vacancy in London on Citi search. Did they close it?
jungle_boogie - have you been invited?? for full-time? London?
