Hey IBD_Haunter, we spoke before. i also applied to corp finance but in Hong KOng, my recent updates are they bump me down to my second choice "structured finance" which i know nothing about.... I am not sure if that is a good news or bad..

@ .l9011fa2 - that's good news. that means they liked your application and they didnt want to reject you! for corp. finance, usually they look for people with previous IBD experience, if you dont have that, then chances are pretty slim and it is better to apply for Structured Finance. This was the HR told me in person!!!! so, that's not bad news at all..... well, unless you wont accept anything other than Corp. FInance

I applied to Equity and Derivatives Trading in HK. Previously interned on a tier 1 equity desk in HK but i'm not sure if thats going to be of any help. havent heard anything so far....no news is good news i guess ;)

wat horrid markets to be looking for a job in. a masters degree and an internship later, not a single interview so far.

The French banks tend to hire people with engineering or other highly quantitative masters degrees and hardly anyone who doesnt speak French. Maybe why some of you (incl me :) have gotten rejected by BNP in the past.

Just a quick question to anyone who might still be active on this thread.

I just filled in the application and within a minute received an email congratulating me and asking me to proceed to the next stage. Thats weird. Who is screening the application over the weekends.

Now, I have a test to do which I am sure I need to get over 65-70% cause its for the Sales Internship Programme.

Any tips on the numerical test?
Also, how long do they take to get back to you after completing the online tests?

I applied for the Capital Markets Systems Support Analyst (IT) and got a pannel interview next week with two ppl from Credit Trading Risk dept . The email says that it will include competency qstns as well as technical...m not sure what kind of technical qstns to expect...

I got an email today inviting me to a trading insight day. Says it will be a speed networking event with various managers from different desks.

Anyone else invited to this and anyone know the likelihood of being invited for interview if you come across well?

Yep thats what i got. They must review all the applications initially and then send them on to the department you have applied to for it to be reviewed further, thats what i make of it.

They are quite late in comparison to other firms, i was starting to think i would just get a rejection

I think it means we passed the initial screening by HR, now they pass our CVs to the respective departments, if we pass this stage we'll be invited to interviews.

Agree their recruitment is quite late compared to other firms, which is sort of annoying to me...Anw, fingers crossed guys.

They're keeping us waiting. Will be gutted if i get rejected

Do you reckon they are slowly cutting down numbers, or our applications are being passed to different desks and they are deciding if they are interested in us.

I am still waiting as well, i have applied more than a month ago.. and i also received this email telling me than my application was being reviewed further, but i tend to think this is an automatically sent message as i just receive exactly the same one again today (exactly one week after the first one)

I applied to the Corporate Finance division London and received the same email today for the second time. First time was on the 8th of December. I wonder what's up with their recruitment. The email is from bnpparibas@alexmann.com. I went to www.alexmann.com and it's a recruitment agency meaning either they're incompetent with emails or bnp likes pulling our chains.

Why can't employment in this country be like it is in america? No numerical tests or AC. Just a simple interview or two.
