BNP Paribas Final Round interview, London

Hi All,

Today I received an invite to the final round of BNP Paribas Graduate Analyst role in London. I was a bit surprised as I haven't even been asked to conduct any telephone interviews (I only did the application and tests), and it states on the email that this interview will be conducted with a hiring manager, not HR. The role is in Corporate Transactions and the interview is only 1 hour.

I was wondering if possibly anyone else had received similar invites as Im not sure if this means, they just made a mistake and this is a first round interview? Also if anyone has had the interview, whether they know what technical abilities will be tested, as it was stated in the email that these attributes will be tested.

Any help would be appreciated!

that is so wierd! but congrats! BNP Paribas interviews doest have any specific format. completely depends on your interviewer. Mostly they check for fit, but might ask questions relating to your previous experience, and if you have related experience, then it can get technical. But, personally, I never interviewed for Corporate Transactions, so would know much about that role.

Strat

yeh i have been invited too!

I have exactly the same dilemna as you. It says final round assessment event but its only a 1hr interview so I don't know what this actually means.

I also have no idea of what questions might be asked in relation to technical questions. I found this role quite hard to prepare for because its more difficult to identify how the blurb on the website translates into a daily job. So when they ask bout why CTG and what I know, im not sure ill be right with my answer!

Can anyone provide a brief overview of CTG about what it actually is?! lol

Hey guys, how was the Final round assessment?

Strat

Pretty easy really. Only seemed to last 20/25 mins.

Interview was with someone from the business covered team work, why banking, my view on the industry, how i deal with situations where i have repetitive tasks and people who may be "less intelligent" lol.

Also asked a tough question regarding interest rate swaps in a theoretical situation on a trading desk and whether I would buy or sell according to some info he told me. Bit confusing to take it all in at once but after I finished my answer, he said it was a good answer.

thats about it, no questions on why bnp, why the role, what i would be doing etc. i still dont really know! haha find out this week i think! Corporate & Transaction Group is one of the only roles without an assessment centre, I did the application form and numerical test and then had this interview and thats it! Nice n easy!

lalawilson

Did they say they are going to make u an offer on the basis of those?

Strat

Yes, I would be made an offer on the basis of the interview.

As i said, CTG is one of the only ones without an assessment centre, therefore the first interview is also the last interview.

Strat

I now have some more information.

In actual fact it wasn't the final round, I have been invited to a 2nd interview which consists of 3 interviews each with 2 people from the team. I think this is what was meant by no assessment centre, instead theres a series of panel interviews.

Hope that clears things up!

seems like GS style

Hey,

I have also been invited for the AC without having gone through a first round interview. HR spontaneously called me one evening and asked if I was still interested in the role and briefly asked why I applied for Operations.

Then I received an email inviting me to AC next week. It consists of an individual presentation and a panel interview with hiring managers. Expected to last 3hrs. I hope there is no more ACs after this one.

  • Strat: Did you have any work experience beforehand therefore they asked the interest rate swaps qns?

Anyone gone through the AC for Ops? Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Strat

hui,

Mine is for Corporate and Transaction Group so maybe slightly different to Ops. The process iv been through is

1) Application
2) Test
3) 1st individual interview

Now iv got the final stage which is:
4) 2nd interviews consisting of 3 seperate panel interviews

I have work experience, a 12 month placement etc but not in banking. I had to use my own knowledge and common sense to answer the interest rate swaps question, although I think that was a question my interview thought of as a way to test my knowledge rather than a set question.

Chocopie,
It took a while to hear back, can't remember exactly how long but i applied early doors so might be different if you've only just done the tests. They kept me posted along the way though saying they were still considering my application etc.

Hope that helps.

Hey!

How did your interviews go strat? I also have panel interviews in a few weeks but as part of a full day assessment. what was your impression of how they conducted them? guess mine will probs be different as different area but would be grateful if you have any thoughts?

Strat

hi,

they seemed ok, weren't really too hard. a lot of me just talking about myself and what iv done etc. why bnp, what i think they do. couple of difficult(ish) questions regarding debt but i think that was just the person's interest in what i thought rather than a make or break question.

no one seemed to write anything down in any of the 4 interviews i had that day. so i don't really know what they will base their decision on. the people i met were all nice and seemed like people i could have a laugh with and work well with too which are both important in my book.

id just learn the regular questions, why bnp, why the role, what you do etc. know whats going on. thats all you can really do because you can never prepare for every question, and you have to expect to need to think on your feet.

hope that helps.
