Barclays Group Numerical Test
Hi everyone,
Just stumbled on this site in my prep for Barclays online test and there couldn't have been a better timing!
Please, anyone whose done it before? What are the questions like?Strictly data interpretation or a little of everything?
Will appreciate useful tips.
Hello again Yaz,passed the tests and have been invited for a first round interview at Canary Wharf.Say,have you had your interview?Or please if anyone else in the house has gone through the first round interview with Barclays kindly provide information on what/how to prepare.Best wishes.
Yes Chloe, immediately after the test. Please guys, any ideas about Barclays assessment centre experience?
neyo>
Sorry, I haven't heard about them since the day I took the test, so I can't help you for now.
Which programme did you apply for ? Me, I applied for Investment Banking summer internship.
Yaz>
I applied for the Finance Grad prog in London.Alright I understand.
Please is there anyone in the house who can offer useful tips for Barclays AC?This will be much appreciated! Thanks
neyo, do you need to do verbal tests before the first interview? there doesn't seem to be a lot of information on their graduate recruitment website
@ml85, yeh you have to do an numerical and verbal reasoning test, altho the verbal is v.easy, almost everyone i kno passes it !! gud luck, what you applying for?
ml85,yes you're invited for a first round interview after passing both the numerical and verbal tests.Still looking for tips on their group exercises and competency interviews though. All the best
Bananas, have you done the first round interview?
I am probably going to apply for Finance, but I had really bad experience with the KPMG verbal so I am a little worried about that. Still in the process of filling in the application at the moment...
neyo, when is your AC? Have you got any details about AC from Barclays Recruitment Group. I've just been told my AC is coming up in 2 weeks, but no exact date. I've applied Treasury. Do you know what activites will be involved? Do we need to do an individual presentation?
Need help, I really appreciate it!
Hey bobdog,AC is tomorrow! All the info I have is it would involve group exercises and competency interviews.Called the recruitment line but was told they couldn't give me such info in isolation but everybody will be advised of what to expect closer to the interview date. Not heard from them yet though!Have you got any new info? Please advise
hi all, just submitted my application yesterday, does anyone know roughly how many days it takes them to get back to me?
neyo, it will be great help if you can share some experience after your AC, and best of luck with it!
hii all,
i did the online tests for Barclays- HR graduate programme and i got a message saying- you have been invited for the first round interview- what does this mean?? is the next stage- telephonic interview or assessment center?? how long before did you hear from the Barclays Bank team??
Thank you
Niharika
Hi niharikab, congratulations on passing the test and the invitation to you is a very positive sign in view of the typical mail sent to those who complete the tests successfully:
HR, Tax and Treasury Candidates
Due to the relatively small numbers we recruit in these areas, we are
unfortunately unable to invite all candidates who successfully complete the
online tests to the assessment stage. Your application will now be reviewed by
senior members in the business area. They will make a final decision on whether
to progress your application further.
Not sure what the next stage will be as I applied for a different program but you can always contact the Recruitment Team on 08452414936 and they should be able to advice. All the very best!
Hey guys,AC went well, there were just about six of us and we worked separately in groups of two!We were given background info about the bank and its objective for the next year(all fictitious) and then asked to choose a product out of 2 which will enable the bank achieve its objective for the fin yr.We were then asked to present to 2 external interviewers. After that, had the competency interview which lasted 45mins!But it all went well, thank God!
Competency was the normal rote but there was a tricky question about a time you took a risk and things didn't work out as planned.what happened, what you learnt from it.
Hey neyo
Can you tell me more about what the interview questions like? Thanks
hi guys someone posted some tests of barclays online on youtube check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHlDLvOYym0 i think there are three tests...
cheers
Hi everybody, I have completed the application form for Barclay's capital yesterday, however I still haven't got the invitation to take the numerical test !
Did something like that ever happened to anyone ?
Thanks a lot
It's normal...unlike barcap, barclays group reviews apps first before sending out the tests.
I'm in the same situation..
good luck!
Hi all,
Any of you know websites which provides free numeracy test for practice?
I am going to have such test next week and want to practice more.
Tks all
Hi all.........
which links r helpful fr prep'tion for the Barclays numeracy nd verbal test...........
I have applied for the position of an Analyst - Full time - Investment Banking Division - London - 2010. I gave the numerical and verbal online quiz today and the current application status is: "Your application is under consideration".
Does this mean it actually is under consideration or has it been rejected at this stage. Response would be highly appreciated.
Thanks
it means you passed the tests. But if you applied for BARCAP, this does not guarantee you an interview.
If you applied for Barclays Group, you should get an invitation to the AC soon..
good luck!
Thanks a lot buddy. I did apply to BARCAP and I guess I don't have an option but to wait for them to take a stand on my application. Btw did you also apply to BARCAP?
well, that's a funny story...i did apply for barcap, but actually failed their verbal test.
then decided to take revenge and applied for barclays group, passed both tests there and now reached the AC stage :)
i guess getting through BARCAP is much difficult than any other division of Barclays. Btw can we apply to 2 divisions simultaneously? I mean along with Barcap, can I apply to any of their other divisions also, i just wonder if that would give them a negative impression about my choice considering i am applying to another division having cleared the initial rounds of BARCAP.
Anyway Good luck with the complete process with Barclays, i hope you get through :)
you still can apply to barclays group, but not to barclays wealth as far as i remember...
they have a rule which allows two application per year under certain conditions...
Two applications to BarCap/Barclays Wealth or one each to BarCap and Group? Under what conditions?
i think it is
one each to barclays group AND barcap/bar Wealth.
I passed the numerical test and just gave the verbal reasoning test, my applicaiton is under consideration. Does that mean I didn't pass it??
YES!
but if you applied for barclays group and not barcap, it should say "invited to first round of interviews".
cheers

@izzahrahman
What division did you apply to? I passed the numerical and verbal test too for barcap, i applied to the trading division. Also does anyone know how long they take to review an application?
Thanks in advance.
I applied to Barclays Wealth the private banking analyst role. I was wondering the same thing - how long do they take to review the applicationn??
Hey guys, I had my final round AC with Barclays Wealth 2 weeks back and everyone from my AC has either received a rejection or offer. Have emailed HR and they have said they would get back to me 'shortly' on the result- any insights as to what this might mean? Anyone been in this position before- what are the chances of me getting an offer? :S
Thanks!
@sweettooth
they most probably put you on hold just in case one of the winners refuses the offer...this would be bad enough.
but in a fortunate case, they may still take some more time before offering you a position. :)
keep us posted
hi all
i've completed the online app, got invited very soon to take the numerical test.
I passed the numerical one and instantly received an email to advise that i have to take a verbal reasoning test.
i completed today the verbal reasoning test and now my application status is "application is under consideration"
did those who got through to the telephone interview had the same, or did you guys instantly receive an invite to interview after completing the verbal reasoning ?
thanks
If you applied for a BarCap position, the interview is not a given even if you pass both the quant and verbal tests.
This is different for non-BarCap Barclays positions in that you could be invited to an interview right after meeting the quota on those tests.
hi
I went for Barclays Wealth, private banking.
BarCap and Barclays Wealth are under the same app process.
So i guess I am falling under the barCap method and I still stand a chance to get an interview invite, right ?
Nothing that you have mentioned above is an indication that you are not in the running.
Hi all,
Hope you guys got through.
Could any of you tell me how long applications to Barcap generally stay "under consideration"?
I have taken both the numerical and verbal test for Barclays Research in Singapore on December 28th.
Since then, my application is described as "under consideration".
thanks,
i have completed the numerical test for Barcap and I have just been invited to the verbal test? Does that mean I have past the numerical?
Hi guys,
Just finished my application and pending my numerical tests..
Any opinion on the difficulties of the numerical as I think I am pretty rusty with it..
Cheers
Hi Guys
I am about to start my numerical reasoning test for Barclays Wealth... any tips as to where I can practise online?
Thanks
hello, guys
I just finished Barcap online test, wonder how it takes for them to get back? What kind of message do you get after ? should it be a "you have passed the test"? I received that for numerical but not for verbal, a bit worried...
Thank you
mz
If you didn't get automatically rejected it means you have passed.

I took it on Tuesday, and I found it quite easy. If you have already taken another test from BNP or HSBC (the two I remember) you will probably face questions that you already answered.
It is typically the same type of questions that eFinancialCareers' ones, according to me ...
Don't stress, don't panic, I am sure you will succeed in those tests, just keep focused on the questions, do not panic ;)
