Barclays Corporate
Hi all,
As there's no existing thread on this topic, just curious whether anybody knows anything about BarCorp, what it might be like working there, how well does it pay and how your experiences have been with them?
Hey guys
I have applied to them, did both numerical and verbal tests too!
So now it's just the waiting game :(
Just a question.. What would be a unique selling point about barclays..What to they do different than others I am really stuck
Hi, I have an interview coming up soon, could anyone give any advice? Thanks!
I have got a phone interview coming soon. Barclays Corporate (Risk Division). Anyone can give me any advice on the division-specific questions they tend to ask? The information available at Barclays website is rather scarce...
Thanks a lot in advance for your help and advice!
Ricardo.
Ricardo, how did things go? I have to endure the same this Friday- for the risk division too! Can you give me any indicators re. the questions, timing etc?
Thanks in advance.
JR
Hi all,
I have a telephone interview booked for the 28th for the Client Coverage Programme. Can anyone give me any potential questions they may ask me, I have found questions in other forums but not sure they relate to this particular programme.
Any help will be appreciated.

2 categories:
General and Competency
General: What do u know about Barclays?, Its positions currently?, How is it structured?, Recent news about Barclays?
Competency: Example of going an extra mile, complex problem solving, difficult message conveyed to someone and influencing people
Good luck to all :)
oh btw this was for technology division although they didn't really ask for any specific tech q!!! i mean come on!!!! newhoooo just venting frustrtion lol
good luck to all :)
Hi Guys,
I am attending AC on 17th Feb for Risk Mgt. Can please anyone let me know what questions they ask in the interview ( anything on derivatives or financial ratios, about Barclays competitors)?
What are the case studies? Not in details, just the main idea. Does everyone have to present the group decision?
Any help will be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone!
Ive done the Barclays psychometric test so many times and passed it every single time!
If you need IMMEDIATE help with the Barclays psychometric tests, join my Blackberry group by scanning the barcode on the link below:
Otherwise, e-mail me on testgenie123@gmail.com
Telephone Q's that aren't covered:
Give an example of a time that you motivated someone else? How will you measure your success during the first year of the graduate programme? What is your greatest achievement? What are the top 3 skills you fell you possess that are relevant for the graduate programe? How does the graduate programme fit into your long term goals?
Tell me about the specific group you have applied for. Tell me about Barclays (the group, not just corporate).
Quite a few unexpected Q's there, maybe they are changing the question bank this year. The questions seemed to be more "multi-pronged", instead of asking "Tell me about your skills?" They might say "Tell me, from either your personal, academic or work experience; a skill which you feel is important", then following up.
Hey, I was told I had passed the next day. Just waiting for AC dates ATM, so I can book one !
Does anybody have any ideas on ways Barclays corporate interacts with Barclays Capital and Retail banking?
Thanks in advance!
Zarar123 do you mean those are the telephone qus that ARE covered, or AREN'T? I have my telephone interview on Tuesday and am attempting to prepare as best as I can.
Thanks in advance
Em_lou772 - i m pasting here what i 've posted on another thread re telephone interview.....
I had my interview 2 weeks ago & passed - they asked 5 questions in total
1. What do you know about Barclays? 2. What do you know about the division you have applied to? 3. Tell me about a time when you set yourself a challenge? 4. Tell me about a time when you influenced someone? 5. Tell me about a time when you worked with a lot of information.
My suggestion here would be - keep your answers as short & sweet & to the point as possible - they are very time pressed when they do the interview and they won't bother understanding any complicated situations you may be explaining. I did my last 2 Qs on issue I had at work - hence having a lot to explain - so the interviewer was kind of interrupting me all the time which was annoying and left me with the impression that he didn't like me much in the end.
Also, bear in mind they ask a lot of 'in depth' questions on the competency ones - like how did you go about doing this, did you met any resistance from people you worked with.. etc - so make sure you are prepared well for such questions.
Hope this helps. I have applied for Tax, and I cannot guarantee you ll have the same questions for other divisions.
Good luck everyone with your interviews!
mancman2011 - your post is great! thanks for sharing the knowledge! I have my AC soon for tax and i was wondering
1. Did you get any competency questions? Do you remember what they've asked? 2. Was there any problem solving/analysis test as they mention in their AC info sheet? How was this test? Any chance I may get some practice tests beforehand?
thanks

Your ac could be different as mine was for Client Coverage.
In terms of interview questions i got asked exactly point by point what i've posted. Just to give examples of each.
In terms of the maths questions. Practise on this link below i'm pretty sure some of my questions at my ac were exactly the same format as this.
http://jobs.hsbc.co.uk/graduates/useful-tools/psychometric-test.aspx
Definitely make sure you know how to do the first 3 maths questions of this link, the second 3 didnt come up for me.
I hope your ac goes well!!!
EVERYONE!!!
As some people keep deleting my posts I have created a forum and explained in detail about my barclays corporate AC experience,
If anyone needs anymore help, just let a brother know!!!
(P.S. To the people that keep deleting my posts, I think you should ask yourself if you would be in the position you are in if it wasnt for the help of other people?!?)
hi em_lou772
could you tell me what questions they asked in your interview? also what division are u applying
hi zarar123
did you say these were covered on the interview or they dont ask these questions?
Hi wiganarms, I prepared for all of the questions in this thread, they asked me similar ones but worded a bit differently, for example instead of my strengths they asked for my academic strengths, and examples where I have exceeded targets.
The interview was in 3 categories,
1. academic and relevant work experience- why I chose my degree, what business knowledge I have etc
2. knowledge of barclays and the division I'd applied for
3. competency qus- my key strengths etc
She asked me quite a few questions but sadly I can't remember them all. I dont remember any of the questions being something I hadn't prepared for from this thread.
I was really worried because the woman was so stern on the phone, really expected her to ask me to further my questions but all she said was 'ok' and moved onto the next question. I thought this was going to reflect badly on the interview but I passed, so must have meant I did ok.
Just a quick tip, with the competency qus don't just give an example, try to link it to how it would help you in your role.
Good luck!
thank you, much appreciated. also what division did you apply
Hi, i'm applying for an internship within Client Coverage division - has anyone had a telephone interview for this specific stream recently? Are the questions tailored at all?
I am heading to the AC on Jan 12th. Anyone going to that one? Anyone going down the night before?
Hey mancman2011, i've got an assessment centre in a couple of weeks for client coverge, you've given lots of good advice so far, but the link to your forum won't work for me ? Says access denied, any clues? Thanks in advance x
Hey guys, seeing as I used this site to do my interview, thought I'd post what I was asked yesterday in my phone interview, although every question I got asked can be found on wikijobs, so prepare all that can be found on the forums!
1. What do you know about barclays 2. What do you know about its structure 3. What is your understanding of Barclay Corporate 4. Why did you choose your degree 5. How does the program fit with your long term goals 6. How will you measure your success in your first year 7. What business experience do you have 8. A time you set yourself a challenge and have completed it 9. What are you doing for self-development 10. How do you motivate yourself (in boring task) 11. How do you motivate others 12. What is your greatest achievement 13. Example of communicating complex information/helping others to understand information 14. 3 skills you have which would help you in this role 15. What are your strengths and weaknesses
Hope this is helpful! Good luck!
Hey, I passed my telephone interview for risk on 30th December but there are still no assessment centres to book-is anyone else having this problem?
nope. everytime i try to book onto one a message comes up saying...
'At present no interview slots available for your scheme. Please keep checking back as once further interviews are scheduled these will go live. Thank you for your patience.'
i emailed them and they just said I need to simply keep checking.
