JP Morgan - Graduate Technology Analyst 2012
Hey guys ,
has anyone been invited for a first round interview ? can you please share your experience ?
thanks
- For the Tech analyst Programme ..
I heard that Tech analyst programme 1st interview commences from 14th Nov 2011. H1k789, When is your 1st interview?
I have got invitation for the first interview for the Application Developer role this morning.
There will be a technical test along with two interviews and a numerical test but JP Morgan didn’t provide much information about the technical test.
Wondering if anyone had this technical test before and any idea what this test involves. Any advice will be highly appreciated.
I have an interview scheduled some time next week for the same role, am in the same boat as you IBGrad10, got no idea wht the Technical test is all bout? Was wondering wht sort of questions they might ask for the Technical Interview, I hope its not something to do with programming concepts :S
same here interview coming up soon and no idea what the technical test is about... I dont think its based on a prgramming language ?
Hello All,
I applied for Technology- Infrastructure Engineer and was invited also for the first round interview. Can someone please share what to expect from the technical interview?
Thanks
Hi, guys. A quick question about the online test. How many tests were you requested to complete? I was told to complete a numerical test, then the status showed that I was invited to do a inductive reasoning test. Were you asked to do the inductive test? I applied for the Technology as well. Appreciate for the notification!
Hi Yang,
We were all invited to do the inductive reasoning test after the numerical. Its pretty straight forward, just series of shapes that have similar pathern and you will be asked to identify what shape should follow next. Easypeasy!!
Plz has anybody got a clue on what JP do ask in their technical interview for technology role? Any responds will be much appreciated.
Regards
Hi Solomonlazio
When is your interview? Do you have to sit for any technical test as well?
For Application developer role I have to sit for a technical test along with a technical interview and a competency interview. I have no idea about what technical test and technical interview may involve!
Mine is coming up December. There is no technical test for my role just technical and competency based interviews. I think the technical test is for only Application Developer role as stated in the interwiew process on their website.
Best of luck
yanglio402 - have you completed the inductive reasoning test yet? I'm having problems accessing it...
Hi kiltox, I did my test yesterday. It is the same way of doing it as numerical test.
It gives me an error when I try to access the practise test "There was a problem with the assessment system, an error occurred. Please contact support. [Code #5210] {0}"
I guess I'll just need to contact them if it doesn't start working again later today - running out of time since they say it needs to be done in 5 days.
Hi kiltox. I think you definitely need to contact the technical team with your error code, better to provide your screen shot. I did have a problem, when I answered the numerical test. It asked me to do twice, then the introductive test appeared. What web browser did you use? Or try another PC to enter into the system. It might be the problem from the server. With a good explanation, I think you will have another chance to do the test, even the deadline has passed.
Hi Guys,
I have my first round interview for App Developer on 30th Nov. Heard last week's first round interview for Tech got postponed to Dec 8th?
Is there anyone else who has already attended it?
Any tips or ideas regarding Technical interview would be really helpful.
Thanks.
Hi guys, got an interview on 8th Dec. Anyone who has attended for App Dev. Could you please share your views on the first round of interview????
Hi guys, I am invited to the first round interview. But I failed to schedule a time slot for interview, as it is fully booked. Does that mean I only could do is to keep on checking its availability?
Yes, you have to wait until they open thier next slot. or you can mail them to know the current situation whether they would open in the coming weeks.
Had my first interview for App developer recently.
Interview included the usual competency interview (leadership, teamwork etc). Technical test was just a way to test your understanding of how to design a program, not using a specific language. Just make sure you know the fundamentals of programming well. Technical interview was just to go over your answers and also to see what you know about the software 'world', for example, "Name a piece of software you use regularly which you think has issues and what are those issues?".
Good luck!
Hi lordbodmas,
thank you for the info, very useful
could you tell us more about technical test ? any example of questions asked in the test? was there any numerical test after that ?
i have mine on 7th dec.. Appreciate any help
Thanks in Advance
Hi Bodmas,
Thanks for the tips, just a quick one, was the technical test thesame for every role or just specific for application developer? Just curious since mine is Infrastructure Engr role.
Thanks
I don't know how much info I can disclose as I have been invited to the next round but I was given the choice to "program" the solution in: any coding language, pseudo-code or just a step-by-step of how you would do it. There were 5 questions based around one topic and I don't think they were meant to be finished.
Solomon, it was specific to the role but they are meant to be roughly based around what you want to do. I don't have a huge amount of programming experience and I thought the questions were challenging, but doable.
There was no numerical test after for me but it might not be the case for you as it depends on the results you got in the initial one (I think anyways).
Just occured to me now, were you asked about JP Morgan in anyway?
Thanks
Please could anyone who has done the JP Morgan's business analyst interview share his/her experience. This will be highly appreciated.
Thanks
attended 1st round tech interview this wk. the tech test was really challenging, time consuming, may b there is no right or wrong answer. so called tech interview was not very tough, mostly like how u think u did in test, do u have similar experience, wat data structure u wil use, wat software u like the most or worst. competency interview was as expected, certain questions on leadership, initiative, challenging time....someone with examples and STAR presentation will be absolutely fine. Interviewers are really humble. good luck all
solomanlazio, never came a single question about y jp, y finance, y banking or anything related
I had my first round interview today. Its the same format as what lordbodmas and cutiecura has specified. The technical test is to test your problem solving ability and the technical interview is mainly follow up on how you did your test. The second interview was completely competency based with questions on leadership, personal development, teamwork etc. Good luck!!
lordbodmas,
Can u share your experience of second round interview? Even I have been called for one. Is it an interview or assessment centre?
lssainath,
I have a 1st round interview on 20th December. I am a bit worried about the technical test since I have no idea about its format. Was it a test where commands of generic language are provided and you are supposed to use to write simple programs (eg. Write a program to Subtract 3 from A, the number of times given by the value of B).
Which programming concepts(stacks, oop, memory handling) do I need to brush up for the technical interview that takes place after the test?
Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.
People who have already had their interviews, how did they go? Any help would be much appreciated!
Hello solomonlazio, How did your interview go? I guess you did marvelously well. I would be going for a similar interview (1st interview) for the same role (Infrastructure Engineer). Please can you give me detailed information on the kind of questions you were asked for both the Technical and Competency Interview. Were you also required to retake an online numerical test. please i would appreciate your prompt response to these questions as this would help me prepare well. I wish you success in all your endeavors. Thanks

Hello John,
I did the first round interview december, the interview was in two stages as was detailed in the mail sent. The first was technical, which I was asked several questions based on ITIL like I should talk on incidence management, event management etc. I was also given scenario questions like how do I go about in resolving some IT issues in an organization. We discussed my CV as well during the technical interview as in my level of experience and also my responsibilities on the position held.
The competency interview was OK as well, just the usual like an example of a time when you ........ which center around teamwork, problem solving, leadership and personal development.
The interviewers were generally friendly.
Throughout the interview there was nothing like why JP, why technology n all d why's u can think of.
The interview was highly well organized and in the end I thank God I was successful to the final stage, the AC which comes up anytime soon. I'm writing my exams now and I hope this helps. My 2cent!
Wish you great success in the interview.
Solomon Congrats for making it to the AC.
Solomon Thanks for your advise. I am very grateful. However, i want to know if you were required to do any test again during the first interview. Secondly, I am wondering why your technical questions centered around ITIL. Are you ITIL certified or was it based on ur CV in terms of your previous work experience? I look forward to your response. Finally, what exams are you doing called " 2 Cents" i have not heard of it before please enlighten me.... Thanks and sorry to bother you so much.
Thanks a million. I wish you further success in all your endeavors.
John,
There was no test for we Infrastructure guys except the developers guys. From the name ITIL which means Information Technology Infrastructure Library contains everything an IT infrastructure guys do on a daily bases in the industry. I'm not an ITIL certified but had some knowledge about it based on my experience, I didnt even know till I got to the interview but thank God I was still able to answer the questions I was asked.
By 2cents I mean my little contribution and assistance to you. As for the exams, I'm a postgrad and I'm on with my 1st semester exams now.
Cheers n goodluck to you in your interview and plz try and give me feedback after your interview.
Sorry to hijacking your post guys:
I have an AC for a Summer Business Analyst position at JP Morgan (London). I was wondering whether someone could provide me some information regarding the group case study given. Also, as far as I understood the below are the activities I have to do during the day:
- one technical interview - one competency based interview - group case study - written exercise
I promise to return the favour in future, thanks a lot for your cooperation.
Mrxela.
Hello Mrxela,
Case Study & Presentation You will be given a bundle of papers, composed primarily of emails stating problems with a (make-believe) company's IT system. You will have approximately 45 minutes to deduce what the problems are and suggest solutions.
At the end of the 45 minute period you will be required to give a presentation on your findings and proposed solutions. It is a one-on-one presentation.
Group Exercise The group exercise continues on from the case study and presentation. Each person in the group is given unique information about potential upgrades to the system described in the case study. As a group you will need to discuss each of your solutions and decide on the best one to implement.
Interview Finally you will receive a one-on-one interview. The initial part of the interview will discuss the group exercise, with questions such as:
Do you think you showed any leadership? What was your contribution? Did you correct anyone?
Some technical questions will be asked too though not quite different from what was asked during the first round interview.
This will be followed some competency based interview questions and standard career motivation questions, such as:
Why JPMorgan? Why IT?
I hope this helps.
Is your AC slated for the on the 19th? Know some couple of guys that will be attending AC on this date.
Greater Success on your AC.
PS: Dont forget to come back here and give your little contribution to some folks that may need help as well.
Thanks Solomon May God Bless you. No probs. I would let you know the outcome of my interview. I wish you success in your postgrad exams. Cheers
Thank you all guys.
I am having an first round interview about app developers too.
Thank you all guys.
I am having an first round interview about app developers too.
Hello Solomon Good day. How are you getting on? Guess fine. Thanks for your advise. I have done the interview it went on fine. The questions asked were exactly as you described. The Technical questions included questions on ITIL (Incident Mgt, Problem mgt, Service level mgt (SLM)). Then I was asked some questions based on my CV. The Competency interview questions was more on leadership, teamworking, initiative, communication skills and personal development. Generally it was a nice experience and the interviewers were friendly. I hope i make it to the final stage. Thanks a million for your advice and encouragement.
You are welcome John, its just a privilege. I pray you make it to the second round. You can check your status online they might have got back to you already. Mine, even before I got back home from the interview they had already replied me with feedback.
Goodluck
Hi, Guys I would like to ask if anyone here attended an assessment center on 19th Jan for Application developer role. Anyone has hear back from them yet?
Hi,
I applied for the business system analyst. Does anyone can provide me some information about the technical interview and written exercise?
Thanks a million.
Hi, solomonlazio
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. The first round interview was exactly as you described.
I have passed to AC stage and would like to ask you does the case study require any technical background knowledge? I don't have much experience in coding although I managed to complete the technical tests in first round interview.
Also, will you be given a computer or a white board to do your presentation? How long is the presentation?
Thanks for your help in advance.
HI Lester,
Hope your interview went well. I have my interview scheduled and would thus appreciate any help regarding the interview process.
Some insights would be greatly appreciated. For example: What questions did they ask during the interview? What technical details do I need to prepare? Do I need to know in details about software? etc
Answers to these questions and anything else you can advise me on would be of great help.
Thank you
