Would you send a "Thank you" email after an Assessment Centre?
Just wondering if it's a practice that you do after attending an Assessment Centre and before being given a final response by the company.
Would you just wait for the response,... or in the meantime, just send an email to the HR person to say stuff like "thank you for the opportunity... i enjoyed the... etc"
What;re your thoughts?
I personally didn't do it, and am pretty certain most people don't. But I can't see it doing any harm as long as it gets to the relevant person in HR.
Just make sure it doesn't look like you're trying to brown-nose!!
I've never heard of anyone doing it. I never have anyway...and it wont help your cause because ultimatly, you are only sending them a 'thank you' to try and help you get the position (They are not stupid). I think it will onlly hinder your chances.
Stags
Agree with Stags. It is pointless as they would have made up their mind about you before they even get your letter! So it would not score any brownie points...
I disagree....... a thank you email after the AC or interview is always good...... lets just say that it wont lower your chances..... but it might increase it...... when your interviewer is undecided about you..... the email will tilt him or her towards a positive decision....
so, if you dont send one.... that's perfectly fine... but if you do send one.... that's good as this will give you a chance to build up a rapport..... I have done this and have seen the benefits.....
I remember I had a first round interview at an IBD with a senior VP... i sent him a thankyou email after the interview (which he replied back prompt)..... then when I was invited for my second round interviews.... the Senior VP actually came down to check up on me to see how I was doing...... even though I wasn't supposed to have an interview with him.... so in this competitive world... you should take any edge that you can get!!!
I'd say if you send it to the interviewer or partner then that's great; if it goes to recruitment@company.com it'll probably just vanish into the ether ;-)

anyone?
