Qinetiq

I been invited to an assessment centre for Qinetiq, has anyone got any advice?
Mudd h
Have you had your AC, how did it go? have you got any tips you can share......thx
AC went well thanks. I got through. But sorry cant share anything abt the assessment as we have been advised not to do so. All I would say is, just know the company well, do your research, make sure you know your presentation topic in detail.
One last thing.......How much do they offer and have you started or when do you start. Thanks
After you've applied, how long do they take to get in touch with you?
Thanks
any tips on what we should prepare for the written exercise and the technical interview? got my AC at the end of feb!!
they took awhile to get in contact after my initial application but after that the process has been quite quick.
I've got my telephone interview on Monday.
Any idea what to expect?
Also where is the Graduate Scheme for the business aspect based? It is not really made clear on the website.
The purpose of this website is to help people. You do realise after an AC they don't base if you pass on how well others do.
It really annoys me when I read posts like this when everyone else is willing to share their experiences.
Telephone interview is mainly competency based. They will ask you a couple of questions about the company:
Why do you want to work for QinetiQ? What do QinetiQ do?
Competency questions I got asked are below:
Tell us a time where you had to show initiative? Describe a time when you faced an obstacle, How did you overcome them? Describe a time when you have to work in a team. What did you attribute to the team? Describe a time when you have to analyse a large amount of data in a short period of time? Tell us about a time where you had to sacrifice something within a team?
They do require alot of detail so make sure you have your example thought out before hand.
Hope this helps
My telephone interview was pretty much the same questions as my application form, so I was glad that I had printed that out before my interview!! There was also some questions about why qinetiq i think and maybe what they do aswel! but other then that the telephone interview was pretty standard!!
thanks for all your help guys.quick question ns404 : did they ask you only to give one example or when you answered same things you had written on the application form they asked you for a second example as well?
dey didnd ask me for a diff example so just gave them the same answers.... and it worked cos i got through to the ass centre so think it should be fine!
thnx a lot I hope u do great!! btw are you an Engineering graduate?how about you Mudd2487 ??
@ hellohello, although companies might say that you are individually assessed based on your performance and assessed against a criteria, the reality is that there are usually a specific number of vacancies available and comparisons with other candidates is inevitable as there, generally, more candidates who pass the AC than there are positions.
To be honest for qinetiq it doesn't really matter as the do their AC's by degree discipline so anyone who has already been to an AC will not be in competition with me for a position.
Anyway you can check my post history and it is evident from that I am always willing to share my experiences. If I can help someone on here get a job with one small detail for an AC that I have already been through and achieved the outcome then I will.
jagode , if you believe that people are so competitive..can you give me a reason why should anyone believe what other people are posting? and not giving wrong tips so at an interview or an assessment centre you get caught unprepared and someone else can have the advantage?
@teardrop I only said that graduate recruitment teams do compare graduates in most cases so it's wrong to assume that an offer only depends on your performance. I personally couldn't care less about how someone else has prepared so, if I can, I'll post my experiences.
hi @ MUDD2487 congrates! I have been invited for the AC. I really need your guidance because its my first AC.
Hi there, got a call today inviting me to the AC on Tuesday in Farnborough. Is anyone else going to this one? It's my first AC.
Guys how long did they take to inform you about the AC and are they giving you any case study to prepare on
hello @ Mudd2487 Thanks man. Can I get your email id or contact no. if you are fine with that then leave me a mail.
thanks once again..
i was told i passed me phone interview almost 4 weeks ago and still not been giving a date any one else in similar stu
@ the_mars_volta - My AC is on Tuesday how are you getting on with your presentation?
@Brute what degree did you do at uni? QinetiQ do their AC's based on degree discipline so maybe they have not got to your degree yet.
@hellohello what is your degree? I'm a computer scientest.
Also, anyone know if there is a sign-on bonus or relocation allowance on top of the £24k salary?
@hellohello presentation is fine so far but not finished yet.
@ hellohello Comms Engineering, surely they should have got back by now. So they sent you a case study fr presentation, pls do leave some tips on how yours go and wish you the very best
Oh that's strange they told me on my phone interview that they do their AC's by degree discipline. My degree is in business so I guess we won't be competing for the same job ha.
I'm not sure about relocation allowance. The salary is pretty good though so I don't think there will be a sign on bonus.
@brute they took two months to get back to me after my initial application. Maybe they are just trying to place you at an AC. That is weird though I found out about my AC a few days after I passed the phone interview!
The presentation is for you to discuss your best module at university so it is not as difficult as I was expecting.
@hellohello , I have not got any call for AC till now. My degree is in Telecom Engineering.
I wouldn't worry then I have a business degree so I think they assess people from similar degrees. If I were at the same AC as you we would be going for different jobs.
I guess Nik85 and myself are in the same boat...lets keep are fingers x and hope they get back to us soon
Brute and Nik85 , did you get the same competency questions at the phone interview like the other guys?
yea pretty standard.....y do u want to work for us, tell us bout urself, team work......and was told not to mention any compe that i had already mentioned in my app
Has anyone that was at an AC in the past week heard back yet?
They said at the AC we would hear by the end of the week, which I'm guessing is Friday.
@hellohello
No I have still not heard and I was at the Tuesday AC. Looks like we might be waiting until next week.
I thought it went well. The wait is the hardest part for me. Should find out by Monday.
Nope I've not heard either teardrop. They said initially by the end of last week then I phoned on Friday and they said Monday morning then I heard nothing from them today.
The strange part is that if you pass the AC that is what you are told a job role is not confirmed until later so I'm not sure how it can take a week to decide whether I passed the AC.
I'm guessing that they're still assessing people at different stages and that's why its taking so long. May I ask , how many people where you at the assessment centre and if they told you approximately how many jobs equal to each division?
I passed the assessment centre Teardrop. I have had no word on what my role is, where I'm being placed and when I will start.
thanks for your info Mudd2487,
i passed the tp interview.i am waiting for the AC. could you give me some tips about the written exercise. is it like a numerical & verbal test or somthing like preparing a technical report? thanks for ur kindness.

I have my telephone interview on tues.... any tips??
