Ford IT Graduate Scheme 2011
Hey everyone...I wanted to create this forum so that we can have some information on the IT grad scheme within Ford. There have been a forums for Finance, Purchasing, HR, Sales and Marketing and Product Development, with lots of comments from other candidates, but nothing yet from anyone who applied to Ford. I applied for this scheme on 28th of October and suprisingly got invited for the online tests on the 1st of November. I was given 3 days to write the test but faced difficulties with browser choice and had to have my test reset (like twice!).
I finally sat for my test on the 5th of November. it went very very well, and I know I passed, but I havent gotten any word from them since then. To read that other schemes have done their phone interview with some people in HR nad Finance already booked for assessment centres was a teeny bit worrying. I called the HR department and was told my application is still under review, which is fine by me because no news is good news, and I am staying positive.
Anyone who applied for the IT graduate scheme, please can you share your experience about your application process. If you have done a phone interview, what questions were you asked. i've read the general questions other schemes were asked - Knowledge of Ford and the function to which you are applying • Working effectively with other people • Results Focus • Customer Focus
I have a feeling just like the product development scheme, the IT scheme may have a different set of questions because it is a technical role. I read from a 2007 candidate on Prospects website, that you may be asked about projects you've worked on. That was 2007, a lot may have changed since then. Any useful hints or responses will be very much appreciated.
Well they are hiring for immediate start and February 2011, so I suggest you do not lose hope. if it is on hold, means you are still up for consideration. Yes I did the inductive and numerical test. The inductive test first and then numerical. Sm1 for the HR scheme said she logged in and got booked for an assessment centre immediately after she finished the numerical test, and I was like wow, did she get 100% or what. I know for a fact that they take their time more with technical schemes like IT and product development bcos they hv to screen to get the best.
I am not worried at all, and you shouldnt too. Lets hope more people will post comments on this forum so we can have information about whats going on
employee2010 - thanks
Regarding the test, is it 3 days for the inductive reasoning and another 3 days for the numerical tests?
Thanks

thanks for the reply but I can only see the inductive test in 'My Account'
i dont know why you do. u will need to contact HR for that. I had found out from this blog, that after the inductive test is the numerical test. So i signed back into my account after I had finished the inductive test, to do the numerical. Sorry i cant help u on this regard
Hello,
I submitted my application on the 28 of October but I haven't received response so far, however I would like to know how is the test?, where can I find material to practice?..
Any help will be appreciated,
Thank you
hi i have applied for IT graduate role and i did my online exam on 12/11/2010 but till now i didnt heard any thing from them. it just shows that "We will be in touch shortly with regards to the outcome"
hi,
I also applied for the IT programme and I was invited to do the online test, which I did on the 18th. I got a mail from them to book a spot for the telephone interview, which is today. Does anyone have an idea of the questions they ask?
also, can anyone remember the exact functionla areas in the IT dept, as I cant remember what they are and it says they will ask questions on ur functionla area!
Good luck on your interview. I copied this from the job advertsiement. Systems support is vital to every aspect of the Ford business. IT graduates will experience a unique breadth of exposure in order to develop technical capability learning through roles which may include Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Security and Control Analysts and Architects.
Please let us know how your interview went.
hi employee2010,
thanks. I will let you guys know how it goes. if anyone has already had the telephone interview experience, please share asap.
I wonder if you get invited to the numerial test only if you pass the inductive reasoning test...?
no...d link for the numerical comes up right after you do the inductive reasoning. At least thats what happened in my case.
Hi blaw,
I just got an email from Ford, about the phone interview (good news). The email stated that it is a competency based interview. Which is great for me. Has anyone also done the phone interview, what questions were you asked. Any help will be very much appreciated
I just read on the Ford Product development graduate programme on wiki job that during the application, you may have chosen a function to work in, under your graduate scheme. I cant remember choosing any specific area to work in, and i read that you will be quizzed about this area. Can anyone remember chooing a functional area, bcos i sure cant remember doing any such thing. I filled the form, with all the details and answered their questions. beats me to be readiing that. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!ANYONE.
The only thing I know about the functional areas is what I responded to for BLAW, which is what i saw on the vacancy." IT graduates will experience a unique breadth of exposure in order to develop technical capability learning through roles which may include Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Security and Control Analysts and Architects"
Can anyone please let me know if I was correct, bcos if so, Business Analysis and Systems Analysis is my comfort zone. Thanks
Hi emp;loyee2010,
The telephone interview is pretty straight forward. Just do ur home work on Ford motor Company, try and know everything about them from start to now (atleast the important things), know the UK market, and you will also be asked 3 comptency based questions, just like it says on ur account page. they competency based questions r all customer related....so be prepared.
Cheers.
HI guys, I applied 2 the IT scheme as well, I have a phone interview with Ford this week after passing the test, Fingers crossed. Anyone who done the interview where the questions the same/similar as the ones on the application form?
Hi wela, I have the phone interview too. Do you remember applying for a specific function under the IT graduate programme, as I read in the Ford Product development graduate programme blog on Wiki Job, and someone mentioned that he was asked questions specific to the function group he chose under product development. I dont remember doing any such thing for IT. I want to ask, if you did, bcos I am beginning to wonder if choosing a specific was only for candidates applying for product development.
Hey blaw, thanks for replying. Were you asked any technical IT questions?
Oh thank you. it must be specific to The Product Development scheme then. Now tha's a relief.
anyone who's had the phone interview, were you asked Technical IT questions. I know people in Product Development were also asked technical questions, just want to know if IT candidates will face the same. Thanks
Hi every1,
I have been invited for the Assessment Centre for IT graduate scheme and I was wondering if ne1 else has heard nething abt assessment.
Hi NANO
When was your phone Interview, and how long afterwards did u get news about the AC. Also when is your AC?
Could you please let us know if you were asked any Technical Questions for your phone interview, or they were all competency based. What kind of questions about Ford were you asked during your phone interview, and what kind of questions about the function you applied to were you asked. Thanks
Well my phone interview was 2 weeks ago and yesterday they sent me invitation for the Assessment Centre and as far as interview questions are concerned they were all non technical and mainly focusing on Customers.
Oh Thank you NANO. I have been studying for technical questions. All focused on Customers, interesting. As you've passed this stage, any useful hints you might provide, like what were they expecting you must hv done for customers, and especially what questions should I be expecting about Ford.
So the part of the email where it states knowledge of the function you are applying to, what was that about. Thanks
Hello All,
Nice to see there is a forum for this.... I got my email yesterday for the on-line assessment and wanted any help that can be rendered as regards the nature of the assessment.
Thank you.
hi, I have recently been invited for the assessment centre. please is there anyone who has been for the assessment centre or has also been invited? It say there will be a Comptency-based interview, In-tray exercise, group exercise and role-play. Does anyone have an idea of what type of Competency-based questions they will ask?
Thanks.
Hi Blew,
I have a telephone interview tomorrow. What questions did you get asked? and what did you use to revise? could you provide any advice?
Thanks
had my phonte interview this morning, and i got a call by this evening about the AC. I would suggest you research well on Ford, and have some prepared competency questions. From what i've gathered, the only common thing for everyone is the competency part, but for other questions about Ford, its different for every candidate.
ok well hopefully will be joining you at AC. Going to be doing alot of work on this tonight
hi employee2010,
what date is ur AC and what competency based questions are you going to prepare for? How do u advice I prepare for the AC?
for the guys who went to the AC today how did you find it?
mine is booked for the 08/12/2010. what kind of things did you do as the email from ford doesnt explain that much. thanks
Hi Guys,
>>>If anyone has been for the AC could they pls share their experiences. I am particularly curious about the in-tray exercises and the role play any information will be helpful.
I am sure most of you would have gone in for the assessment center but I hope this post will be useful to someone else. Ford has not had a graduate scheme for about 4 yrs now and my guess it that happened cause they had to do a lot of internal restructuring.... the "ONE FORD strategy" . I am guessing thats also why there is not a lot of post about the application process on this site.
I have been through the on-line application stage, on-line test and telephone interview stages. will be going for an AC same day as "barrowvian" on the 08/12/2010.
TELEPHONE INTERVIEW I would like to share some insight on the telephone interview. It is pretty straight forward just DO YOUR RESEARCH & take time out to think about your skill and how you have applied them in various situations from work, to school to volunteering experiences. There are always 2 consistent questions, 1) tell us what you know about ford 2) Why have you chosen to work in your chosen function.
the other 3 are competency based questions are and i am not sure if they are always the same questions asked to everybody. The questions I was asked are 1) about being persuasive 2) being client focused 3) Working effectively with other people
ADVICE My advise is Before the interview 1) be calm, 2) research the company and 3) reflect on your skills. During the interview 1) SUMMARIES - As you state your specific scenario for each competency based question try and summaries the skills you are trying to reflect from the scenario you gave. 2) FEEDBACK - get feedback from the interviewee whether or not they felt you had addressed the question well. you dont have to do this every time but do it when you are unsure about your answer or when you notice a reaction from them thats makes it seem you have not addressed the question.
Hope this helps those still yet to do their telephone interview and for future candidates.
If anyone has been for the AC could they pls share their experiences. I am particularly curious about the in-tray exercises and the role play any information will be helpful.
Hi everyone, I was told by one the recruiters that six people where invited for the AC on 2nd and everyone of them was told that the AC was postponed to Wed 8 DEC.
My guess is Medoz, Barrowvian, Blaw, Employee2010, Nano and myself. Six of us at least are for the 8th of Dec AC.
We could share resources and prepare together if anyone is up for it.
sorry, i've already had my AC. would be of more help, after i've gotten word back from them. i'm sure you can understand
I have been invited to the assessment centre too on the 8th...
Hi Employee2010, I understand you dont want to share your experiences... at least not just yet. But I do have some questions. did you do any presentations and/or psychometric (Numerical/Logical) at the AC? would really appreciate the help, thanks.
there are no suprises at the AC. Its as exactly as it says on the message you get. Group exercise, in-tray exercise, role play exercise and competency based exercise
Where there any numerical reasoning tests as part of the In-Tray exercise? And by the way Goodluck!
Well Done Throne. Which grad scheme did you apply for? Perhaps you may like to help the rest of us achieve your position?
Hi Employee 2010, at what date was your AC and when did you hear back from them. I am curious because I attended one of the first ACs and have not heard back from them as yet. I send them an email yesterday, and got a reply today, stating that my performance at the AC is still being reviewed.
Hi, Throne, well you have a new colleague. Thankfully i'll see a familiar face when i start. See ya next year
Well done employee2010, when did u have you AC? how did you hear about your confirmation?

Gud job for creating this Forum.
The funny thing is I submitted mine as well on the 28/10/2010 but only got feedback today that my application is 'on hold' so you are in a far better position..
I am glad they haven't refused my application so far but I wonder what another week might bring..
Employee2010.. did you do the inductive and numerical tests..?
