British Airways Assessment Centre
Hello all,
Anyone here been to an assessment centre for the "Engineering Professionals Programme" with BA before?
Any fresh hints or tips for me to take on board?
Cheers.
Hello iwill,
I'll be there for the 28th too. I take it there were half day morning sessions to start with? I'm sure i received an email from them saying they will be sending out practice papers and stuff but havent seen anything come in yet, have you received anything?
Have you been to any other assessment centres?
To clarify, my understanding is that an offer is made after this assessment. So there are no second interviews or anything?
Cheers.
Hey mate,
Im not pretty sure about how the assessment is going to be.This is my first and i am pretty jumpy about it. Hope everything goes well for us. Do you have any idea about what the procedures are going to be and stuff? They said they would be briefing us beforehand. And they have also mentioned that this is stage 1; apparently it does not end there.
I did receive the pack containing a test booklet with examples of the type of questions. But the pack I received was for the business professionals programme for which they asked me to ignore the letter within the pack and said the practice booklet was the same. Quite confused cos they have marked certain section to be worked out. I have asked for further clarification.
And mate what is your area of interest?which uni??
Cheers.
hi,
I have also been called for the assessment for the Engineering professionals programme. I have booked a slot for 29th. any updates about the next step in this process?what assessment other than psychometrics is gonna take place this time??any ideas??
cheers
@iwill
Same here, it'll be my first assessment centre so its a totally new experience! Just go with the flow and maximise on any hints and tips that get thrown our way i suppose. Are you going to be coming from far? I'm worried i'll be late even though i live in east london!
I received the pack midweek and it had two sample booklets which said only look at one section from each. I guess that there will be a lot more questions on those areas otherwise it'll be a fairly short test?!
I'd like to focus on structures, loved doing structural analysis and studying materials engineer at university. But to be honest, I would really have liked to go in to avionics but that was never offered as an option on my course (even though it was clearly an option when i selected the uni).
I went to City university, yourself?
@adil_starz
All of the assessments they'll be carrying out are on http://www.britishairwaysjobs.com/baweb1/?newms=info48
thanx for the link dillio. By the look of the email and package I received, I do not think that we will have a formal interview on that day? am i right about it?
@adil_starz I assumed it would be a formal interview but i guess it makes sense for it to be informal if there is more than one stage to the selection process.
guys, they would be intimidating us about the selection processes before we get there. are there any other sites where we could practice few more tests, that could be helpful!
Hi guys from their email they state "At this stage we are only inviting you to a group discussion and tests specific to this role" so i doubt there will be a formal interview. Good luck!
Hi
So then ppl hw did the assessment centre go? A structure/outline of the day would be great. Also hope all went well for eveyone
Cheers
Hey I know this thread is a year old but I have just been invited to the AC. Thing is I am worried that I will waste money going as I already went to an AC for another one of their schemes about 8 months ago and it says in their Faqs that we have to wait a year to elapse before we can apply again. But this is a totally different scheme and I used the same account to apply and they didn't say anything. Should I email them or just pretend I have never been? Thanks
Hi
I'm invited to the first-stage assessment centre this year for engineering graduate programme. I'd really appreciate it if someone can give me some pointers on the AC. The group discussion and the tests, what are they like? and will there by any competency-based questions during the day?
Cheers!
septemaugust
septemaugust hi. i too am going. not really sure what o expect from this. can anyone clarify what "tests specific to the role" is? is it to engineering in general or the specific roles we said we were interested in on the application form?
Cheers
tootrue
Hi All,
I've been invited as well to the BA Engineering AC (first stage). I'm not sure what it will entail but I think some numerical reasoning of some sort. Mine is on the 23rd of June, when have you guys booked it.
Thanks
Essam
I think "test specific to the role" means a test such as Mechanical Comprehension test as a unit of the many tests available out there. Since we're applying for the engineering grad scheme, it will be that and maybe numerical reasoning. All SHL ones I guess.
I booked mine on the 28th and BTW anybody got the bookleaf yet?
And how do you find the online reference link?
The email says you'll be sent an email telling you how to do the pre-employment checks but I haven't received any, so I called them and they said there's a link on the homepage where I log in. I can't find it anywhere. Anyone's got a clue?
yeah got mine. yer i'm kind of expecting verbal, numerical and mechanical reasoning type tests. can't be that many tests, afterall it's only half a day. reading the words above we should prob bring some snacks to get us through the day! I really hope the tests are done in the morning when our brains are fresh, also gives some time to establish a rapport with the group.
anyone live locally to the tests?
I got the test battery booklet leaflet, and it had written on it # TEST 4 ONLY # and it was the one on the 'mechanical comprehension test'. I think we'll have that and maybe numerical and verbal reasoning by shl. we'll also have a group exercise. I'm sure there will be lunch provided on the day. I live in London zone 2. anyone local?
seriously does anyone know how to do the online reference thingy?
hello essam...i have got the same thing..and i dont know anything much about it...which date have u selected?
Hi essam86, I also live in zone 2. Did you fill in the online reference? I called the BA team and they told me it was on the login page and I was looking for the link but I couldn't find it. Could you help me with this?
Thanks
Regards
Kuan
Hi , Is there any one booked for 29th June for BA Assessment day ?
in that booklet there were numerical and verbal reasoning questions right? so why say only test 4? gives the impression there's not going to be any numerical or verbal doesn't it.
Hi tootrue29 I gues you are right. what date have you booked for the assessment day?
Hi Kuan
No I haven't filled in the online reference, I think that happens after Interview stage, we won't be interviewed at the first assessment stage, my guess is we'll get the Mechanical comprehension test + group exercises + presentation. If we pass this stage, we'll be invited to the 2nd stage in which we'll need to provide references. It only makes sense to provide references prior or after the interview stage. Have u booked the 23rd June Kuan? If you have, we can meet up if you like somewhere close to Westfield?
Tootrue29, my guess is there will not be any numerical and verbal reasoning, and thats why they've written test 4 only. Do prepare for them just in case.
Anyone booked for 23rd June, ping me an email.
Thanks, Essam
Hi Essam
Thanks man, appreciated. I've book 28th, not 23rd. But good luck to you and everyone here and wish we can all get through to the final stage!
I'm applying for engine management but I don't know if we'll be guaranteed to do what we choose.
What's everybody applying for?
Regards
Kuan
yeah def. going to prep for all test types...it's a good opportunity might as well prep for the worst case.
I'm also going for the AC in 'leaders for business'. Yuppie! Congrats for all who have managed to get through to the next round! I wish us every best of luck for the remaining parts.
Can anyone share examples of the group exercises in 'leaders for business'? Are they BA related ones, or I should expect anything?
Good luck to all that attended todays session! do you care to share your experience?
How long did it take for assessment day candidates to hear back from BA and how did they contact you to say yes or no?
i think it should be by the end of this week. don't know how though but i'm guessing the successful ones would get a call and the rejected ones would be told by email :x just random thoughts but good luck to us all!
regards
septemaugust
Thanks for that....It will have been a week tomorrow for me, would rather know asap either way. Good luck
through to the final stage! anybody knows what's it gonna be like? just a face-to-face competency-based interview or are technical questions also involved?
pretty nervous now! and im having a little bit of trouble with my visa. sent them an email today, hoping to sort it out asap
Me too, congratulations....If anyone can offer any information relating to the final stage I would much appreciate also.
yeah me too, well done to all that made it. ditto on the information as i am clueless!?
anyone been filling up those references?
I'm just wondering if the referencing team gonna check the references in the form against my CV, or even with inland revenue. I don't wanna write all my references since some are abroad and some companies i worked for were outta business.
Just the shool+university is enough to cover the 5 year scale and im wondering if i shud put all those work references too, or maybe only those companies that are still in business.
any thoughts on this anyone?
Hello,
I am scheduled for the HR graduate program on the 8th of July.
Please i would like to know if the class test was in the same format at the online (SHL) test.
Furthermore, I would like to know what the group exercise was about.
Thanks
Well done on getting through guys, I got through too - not really sure what to expect from the interview, I'm sure it's just competency based stuff.
Any one heard back from BA following their final interview yet? Has been a week and a half for me and nothing yet
Hi Shotokan,
I have my final assesment interview on Monday for the Cargo program and was wondering if you had any tips or advice?
Was the interview mainly competency based, did u get asked much about the company etc?
What did the work related exercise interview involve as well?
Any help about the day would be much appreciated.
Thanks
All my interview was competency based (Give me an example of a time where....leadership, time management etc). Few questions at the end relating to the challenges you believe are facing BA.
That was it, lasted about 1hr. Interviewers were nice and fairly informal
Tomorrow is the last of the ten working days, but I didn't hear about the last assessment until the end of the envelope, so I'm expecting something similar. Shotokan, when did you interview?
Funky6, the interview wasn't too intimidating, it is mostly about you. Think about all the experiences you can talk about in your life (mostly standard competency questions, kinda focussed towards coping with busy/difficult times in your life) and I got asked about fleet expansion, and what I would define as success in my role. Good luck!
hi Craig, I had my interview last monday, so quite concerned that I haven't heard anything yet as I felt that the interview went quite well.
How about you, when did you have yours?
I had my interview last Monday too, in the afternoon slot. I haven't heard anything either, and I thought my interview went OK, maybe not fantastically, but the line seems to be you get to hear either way, so I think maybe tomorrow will be the day. Here's hoping!
Check back the same time tomorrow?
I really hope so, best of luck to you. I just worry that they would contact the successful applicants within a few days, but who knows
Well, they said 10 working days. I'm sure we'll find out either way. I realised 10 working days stretches all the way to Monday, so we'll see. I've still heard nothing.
No me neither.... Was expecting some form of contact today, maybe they meant 10 days from the last interviewing day (Wednesday)?
Its frustrating though, they do not check references until they make job offers. Have all degree certification already so don't really know why it takes so long to decide.
Anyway, fingers crossed for next week!
Yeah, certainly, and best of luck to you! The annoying thing is, I have a couple of other interviews in the next couple of days. I organised them specifically for now, thinking I'd've heard from BA. Puts me in a bit of a dilemma if they offer me a job.
The joys of job-hunting, eh?

Hey Dillio,
I have been called for the assessment too for the professionals programme. Iv booked for the 28th. Which time slot have you booked into??
Wish u all the gud luck mate.
Cheers!
