NPower Telephone Interview

Thanks that was really useful! I just had a npower telephone interview today for the management grad scheme, those were the exact same questions I had. They said they don't know when the assessment centres are going to be as they don't have any dates as yet, incase anyone is wondering

Hi just wondering - these questions seem very similar to the ones asked on the form, before being invited to take the online tests. Did you find this and if so do they ask you about your previous answers? any help is much appreciated thanks in advance!

Sorry just seen this thread, guess you have done the interview but its pretty much what the original poster said - I didnt get why N Power though energy or anything like that.

I took mine last week - still havent got a reply though, another firm to cross off my very short list it seems.

Hi I also had mine but haven't heard back yet - I think at this stage that means they just haven't decided yet so I wouldnt worry too much. My list is also very short - it is a tough year it seems!

I had my telephone interview today, got asked similar questions listed by lupefiasco. There was one more not listed here: tell me about a time when you did something that affected everybody. This is the one I struggled in.

I was told that I will hear within 3 days. Lets see what happens.

So, I had the tel. interview today. It lasted for about 35-40 minutes. The questions were: complex solution to the problem (why I consider this solution particularly complex, why I chose it, what got in the end..), planning smth/organazing people, crisis in the team, mistake(s) I made (why made, what learnt), actions which effected everybody, convincing people to change their mind, dealing with vague/contradictory information to solve the problem.

I think that's all although I can't be sure...

I have a telephone interview coming up for Npower (Finance) and was wondering if anybody has had any telephone interviews recently with them.

Okay, i'm going to repay some of the wisdom,

Just had my telephone interview today for the marketing scheme.

All the questions listed above are now redundant apart from Why Npower and why the specific scheme.

The interview is split into 2 areas

1. Competency based questions

Please tell me (giving examples) how you manage your time. Please give me an example when you nearly missed a deadline. How did you deal with it. Give me an example of when you led a team. Give me an example when you shared an idea - Also a sub question asking me to explain when i took other peoples opinions on board.

Sorry thats all i can remember. Just bare in mind, the interviewer always put a number of sub questions in. For example, asking to develop points relating to communication and negotiation etc.

2. Personal Motivation

Why marketing?

Drive

I genuinely thought i messed up the whole interview but 4 hours later i was told i had passed. So if your caught on the hop don't worry too much and keep your composure. The recruitment staff were really nice

Heya just had my telephone interview don't think i did very well! Mine was a bit different to yours on second part. Mine was split into two sections as well.

Competency How do you manage your time? (Give example) Describe a time when you've nearly missed deadline? Give an example when you've led a team? Example when shared idea/ changed people's opinion?

I struggled with deadline one they had to come back to that!

Why Finance? What skills do you need for finance? (have a list ready coz i only had a few then my mind went blank) Explain when you've used those skills (you can't use examples used in competency section! so prepare more examples for this section!)

Finally explain what skills you want to learn or develop on finance scheme.

It all seems such easy questions now but at the time I didn't really know what to say. It's really annoying when that happens. Make sure u prepare and keep ur cool!

I have been asked same questions as Dorib. So be prepared and confident will be alright! But due to the signal problem, that lady could not hear me clearly.... So i think I will not pass the tel interview....And this problem never happened, I do not why it happens this time... So must ensure that your voice is clearly..

I was wondering if anyone had a tele.interview for the engineering grad scheme (Energy services)? I am having mine at the end of the month and was seeking some guidance from other peoples' previous experience in this tele int. When I am done mine I shall post the questions up as well. Thnx =)

heya mine was for finance but if the finance and marketing schemes got asked same questions I think you'll be asked the same competency questions then you might get some more engeneering specific questions as well.

Thought I'd share the love people, just had the RWE Npower interview for HR.

Literally same qus as above:

1st section 1. Time management 2. Nearly missing a deadline 3. Leading a team 4. Persuading others to come round to your idea.

2nd section 1. Why HR 2. What skills 3. What do I want to develop on scheme

Didn't even get asked why Npower!!!

I also had the same exact questions in the 1st section as trudester. BUT I applied for energy services role so my 2nd section was as follows:

I had my telephone interview last week for the Finance scheme and was basically asked similar questions.

I had my interview for the 2012 intake for Business Analysis and thought I'd share the questions I was asked as its so useful!

Competency based questions: -Focus (when have you had cope with multiple conflicting duties?) -Accountability (can't remember the question but I think they want you to have a led a team to a successful outcome) -Drive and performance (when have you shared ideas to improve performance?) -Time management (when have you nearly missed a deadline?)

-Why business analysis? -What skills do you think you will need (and give an example of how you have each of these skills)? -What skills do you hope to develop through this scheme?

I had my telephone interview for finance scheme today. They asked somewhat the above mentioned questions. The interviewer was from npower graduate recruitment team. He said they will let me know about the results shortly. The assessment centre is on 23rd November 2011. It was my first telephone interview, so I am crossing my fingers.

I just had my telephone interview...it was pretty easy to be honest, just a chat. quite informal....got a call 2 hours later saying i passed...off we go to the assessment centre on wednesday :p

I had my interview in Decemeber and they emailed me saying I had passed, but I havent heard back since, so I emailed them today asking when the ACs were and they replied saying: Hi Jessica, Thank you for your email. We have not actually set up an assessment centre for this scheme yet so we have not invited any candidates to an assessment centre. I believe this will be being held in February so we will be making our decisions then. We will give all candidates a call to let them know if we have invited them to an assessment centre, so thank you for your patience during this time and we will hopefully in touch soon to let you know. Hi Everyone , I just did my telephone interview and it went quiet good ,the interviewer name is Lorna and the questions were same as mentioned before , -Time Management -Missing a deadline -Change people's opinion ... also she asked me why I choose the graduate program and what skills I need in it and what skills the program needs from its graduates and why I selected this graduate program in particular

then she told me that they have not yet prepared for the assessment centers and they will only call those who they feel best suit the role ...

I had my telephone interview yesterday, the woman who interviewed me said they're holding an assessment centre on the 14th (i'm sure she said of Feb but I'm not 100%, it may be March). She also said they would make their final decision on Friday (tomorrow) and let people know if they're offered a place. Has anyone had experience of the npower AC for marketing?

Oh, and my telephone questions were the same as other people have said, examples of working to deadlines, sharing ideas etc.

Hi, I have a telephone interview for customer services advisor scheduled for this week. They have told me to expect questions in the following areas- CV Review, 5 scenario based questions, Behavioural / Motivation competency interview, Role-play exercise.

I had my telephone interview on 23rd march and later recieved an email stating that I met the required benchmark score for the telephone interview. They said they will be in contact as soon as they can to confirm about the assessment centre.

I still havent heard anything since then.

Has anybody been invited to the assessment centre yet?
