I haven't even heard anything from BG group since i submitted my application about 3 months ago, and thats despite me emailing them and them then saying in 'due course'! Hope u av at least heard since ur last post, and how long did it take 4 em 2 get bk 2 u frm ur intial app?

Hi Vikram, BG group take an age to get back to ppl! Still have not heard back, but hopefully will get a few jobs sorted before that, in which case i can reject BG

hey Dee boy, iam applying for 2011 bg graduate opportunities, which category r u applying for? and what degree r u holding?

I applied to commercial scheme & have a business background. I completed the online reasoning tests 2 wks ago & still waiting to hear if I made it to interviews.

How abt u ahmedbahgat...what program did u apply to? whats's your degree background? & Most importantly what stage in the recruitment process are u at? It seems like BG take forever to get back to candidates...

I applied for the engineering and operations program,iam a mechanical engineer. how was the online reasoning test,??? ive heard that its too difficult?

I just filled an application and waiting for their call, it seems that u r far ahead of me,

The testing is the same as any other...practice SHL & u'll be fine...
Its numeracy and verbal...but u have to pass numeracy before the system allows u to do the verbal. Also you may need to be patient cos it took over a month for HR to ask me to do online tests after i submitted my app...they are sooo slow!!!

where can i find the SHL tests?

Hey Dee Boy, I'm in the same position as you, did the tests over two weeks ago and still waiting to hear back (commercial scheme too). You're right, they take absolutely ages! Let me know if you hear anything!!

Yeah same. Exact same mix but with a definite preference for international oil & gas companies.

There doesn't seem to be that much on wikijob about this sector... Well, me and you might end up posting successful walkthroughs on here! (fingers crossed)

I have applied for the Business Analyst role and also successfully completed the online tests about 3 weeks ago....still not heard anything!

@Stepney1..... why are you doing a telephone interview? as far as Im aware the next stage after the tests is a technical face to face interview!

Anyone else heard anything further?

I live in the UK, don't know why they're asking me for a telephone interview.

What degree are you studying/ already got? What grade?
You got any work experience such as placements or anything?

Fore the sake of anonymity I won't divulge too much, I'm at a top 5 uni, with relevant experience.

25K is poor, you sure its the same across all roles?

No bother, but I fail to see how revealing your degree/ grade would compromise your anonymity? I am studying for a Business Law degree. No where near the top 5 universities though lol how important do you think that is at this stage? I would think that once you are by the application stage it is a case of "selling" your abilities and experiences and your university isnt considered (hopefully lol)

I wouldn't set that figure in stone. I have found it very difficult to find a salary for this position but this is the only number I could find. I did think it was low as well considering the company/ industry/ job description.

I think a certain amount of weighting is put on which uni you attend, but can be counterweighted by relevant experience, extra curricular achievements etc.

Where did you see the figure of 25K? Cos I haven't been able to find anything. Also, will the UK placement be in London, if not then I might withdraw.

I just googled searched and eventually came across the figure on some job/ recruitment website somewhere i believe...i cant find it now though lol

I applied for the graduate trading analyst role. I thought it was at eagle house london with some scope for international travel.

I doubt there will be a great deal of difference in terms of location & pay - I also thought these "non-technical" roles were based in Reading but I could be wrong.

And that pay figure does sound rather low especially when compared with market rivals, I'd be surprised if it is what's quoted above!

Trading analyst stephney1?? Are u sure its not a direct entry role rather than a grad scheme cos its not listed as one...and also I thought the initial placement would be based in Reading rather than London...
25k does seem a bit small for a company in this industry but I wont be surprised if its that...cos firms like EDF energy, Eon, Npower, Centrica dont pay much more

Energy marketing, thats the one I applied to.
HR said the pay will be discussed during the interview, will let you guys know what I hear.

Anyone got any more news? I still havent had any correspondance since completing the online tests...its frustrating that they tell you that you have passed the mathematical test but not the verbal test!

Its still a waiting game...know what u mean abt not knowing the verbal results. Lets hope to hear soon...

I got an interview coming up at their reading office. Just curious what do they mean by a technical interview?

when did you do the online tests BYR, roughly?

I am the same, I dont really know what they mean by a technical interview but if i was to guess i would say it may be situational questions about the job you have applied for... they will put you in a scenario that you may face in the role and ask you how you would deal with it?

what job have you applied for as well? if it is an engineering or technical position then they may also ask you some theory? Im really not sure...good luck with it anyway, keep us posted

They took ages to get back to me I done my tests on 14th November and they only got back to me today. I applied for the business analyst role, I was reading up on their site and I guess the interview would be based on something like this;

We’re looking for graduates with a degree or equivalent in a management, scientific or financial discipline, demonstrable analytical skills and business acumen. Your communication skills and diplomacy will also be important – you’ll need to explain clearly and succinctly which factors most affect the value of our projects and quantify the risks and rewards involved.

I done my tests on the 11th or 12th of November and haven't heard anything yet. I can't imagine that I would have passed the numerical test and not the verbal test. I have never had any problem what so ever with the verbal reasoning tests. Hopefully I hear something soon. I too have applied for the Business Analyst role.

Yeh that passage you have highlighted does look useful. There is a lot of great information on the BG Groups website actually, its one of the best described graduate schemes I have came across so far.

Have you any idea how many they will be hiring though?

@ wobgnorts...when u click on 'graduate vacancies' and then click on specific positions to apply, it tells you how many vacancies are available. For example, commercial only has 7, energy marketing only has 2...but a program like engineering and operations has 25 places. So all the engineering positions account for something like 80% while business positions are very limited...

The business analyst role is not listed in the vacancies anymore!
I logged on to my existing application though. My status still says "under consideration" which is good!
The job description doesn't state how many positions are available!

Yea business analysis isnt there anymore...maybe they're receiving too many apps for it & have decided to make a decision based on those that have already applied. A couple of weeks ago anyway I saw that business analysis only had 1 vacancy which is one of the reasons why I didnt go for it...

Can you apply for more than one scheme?

Would imagine you're allowed only one app per academic year...but there's nothing on their website stating that, so I have no clue if you can apply to more...

I have only came across one job that allowed you to apply for more than 1 scheme and that was with Citi
